We loved this home! Nice outdoor pavilion and swimming pool as stated. It was perfect for our large group of 3 families. Everyone had plenty of space. Not far from Lake Anna. Peaceful neighborhood. Thanks for the pleasant stay!
Mikel was a wonderful host and was very quick to respond when we messaged with questions. The WiFi worked perfectly for us during our stay. The fenced in yard is huge and was perfect for our pets. The pool was beautiful and we enjoyed swimming very much!
Kitchen was adequately stocked. We enjoyed a lazy rainy 2 days catching up with friends. Outdoor area had trash and old unused equipment. Beds were comfortable but bedroom walls needed paint or repairs where TVs had been removed. Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed our time.
Beautiful house, equally nice yard, and a great neighborhood. The owner is doing some construction on the property (he made sure I was aware), but it wasn’t an issue. The rooms were a great size for the kids. Our dog had room for his crate in the kitchen. It genuinely felt like coming home. Kudos, Mikel!!
I have so much to say about this home and the host himself. My stay was from July 6-10th. He offered an extra day but I would have to pay via Zelle to avoid any VRBO fees which I did (first mistake). I had to ask for the code to get into the home and while on the line with the host attempting to get the code he stated "The pool is green because someone had something on their body that turned it green". Then he said, "Someone turned the pump off to the pool which is why it was green". The pool was full of algae and dirty. Full of bird feces. The bottom of the pool was not visible. The projector in the living room was missing and his excuse was that "A previous visitor stole it". The remotes for the TV were missing and TVs in the rooms were missing. The Internet is NOT SKETCHY it DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. Now you're in the middle of nowhere with no phone service (I have AT&T) and no internet. How is this safe? There is garbage all over the shop and piles of garbage where you're suppose to discard your garbage when you check out. He offered to bring his projector and never came to try to fix anything because "I told him I was checking out therefore he DIDNT FEEL HE NEEDED TO COME". Run now!
Ive reached out all the appropriate individuals including OSHA.
The pictures are deceiving to say the least! Good luck.
Upon check-in 5:30pm informed that the cleaners did not arrive. Owner said to have done it himself. There were dead flies everywhere, food residue on a dresser, kitchen table, counters. Moldy food left in the refrigerator. Linens left in the dryer wet and towels in the washer. Dryer runs when opened. White towels and wash clothes had stains on them.
We observed a broken window a child could easily cut themselves on, missing bathroom hardware, drywall patching, stained mattresses on both sides, a lot of junk in the yard (trash debris, old equipment, construction supplies, liquid containers with stagnant water collecting in them etc). The HVAC intake was coated with a thick layer of dust.
Trash to be placed outside in a bin near the auto shop, but the bin was full , majorly overflowing and several open trash bags were laying around the bin. Trash bags torn open.
Pool was cloudy with clumps of visible dirt on the bottom and the hot tub was not in use and torn apart. Within 3 days, the pool had become green and unsafe to swim in. The owner said he was going to treat it but did not come out for 2 days.
We have pictures of everything but unfortunately VRBO at this time doesn’t allow you to post pictures with your review sadly.
We made the decision for the safety of children to leave early. The owner initially agreed to refund us the remaining nights we had not stayed but did not honor the request.

Hi Jordan, We appreciate the review. It’s unfortunate you didn’t enjoy your stay. While you may be correct that the cleaning was subpar. I take full responsibility for that as I am Real Estate Investor and not a cleaning professional. My cleaning person did call out at the last minute so I did the best I could do within the 2 hours I had to clean before your checkin. This was evident because I was still cleaning when you arrived. Which is a good thing I was there because I caught you trying to checkin my property with dogs you didn’t advise were going to be with you. When I addressed it, you claimed to have put it on your reservation. It was evident you didn’t because pet fees and each charge is itemized on your receipt. We both took out our phones and checked the VRBO app. I showed you where there was no $100 pet fee added. You then looked at me nervously unable to figure out words to justify the “mistake” because you know you were caught in a lie. I didn’t make a big deal out of the situation because I told you that I’ll just add the fee for you to pay at the end of your stay. I was done talking about the matter at this point. You then called VRBO on speakerphone to justify you had indeed listed your dogs on your booking. Unfortunately for you, the VRBO representative advised that you didn’t add the dogs to the reservation. It was probably a blow to your ego being caught lying. So again there was another nervous silent stare. It was a bit awkward so I walked away and left.
Again you are correct Jordan. There was a load of laundry in the washer and dryer when you arrived. It seems that 2 hours wasn’t enough to get everything thoroughly washed and dried before you arrived. However let’s clarify that I advised you that the linens were in there and asked if you wanted me to finish them up before I left. You declined. Nothing was just left in the laundry room without your knowledge.
Again you are correct Sir. The pool did turn began to turn green after you were there for 3 days. However, again let’s clarify. For some odd reason a pool pump won’t filter properly if the water levels are not kept in proper range so the pump is able to suction water and filter it. It may seem odd to you but water evaporates. Even faster in high temperatures. Water levels also drop when people who are in the pool splash a lot of the water out. Nevertheless, I’m no scientist neither am I an expert at how H2O works. The basic knowledge I have about the subject matter, I relayed to you. You were instructed to make sure the water levels stay within the required range. When i arrived the day you left. Sure enough as suspected the water level was very low and the pump was sucking air. Luckily for you, the pump didn’t die. I was able to save you a few thousand dollars in additional costs.
Man you are good at being right because I in fact did agree to refund you for the 3 remaining nights. However, again you are forgetting to divulge the other facts. I did in fact refund you $500 and decided not to charge you the additional $100 pet fee. This sir was a bit more than the 3 nights but who’s counting right? Well it seems you were. You called me and we had a conversation about the refund because according to “your” math, I still owed you a whopping $40. Imagine that right? Well apparently you didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t going to budge. I received a call from VRBO a few days later asking if it was ok to conference you in as you were on the other line with them. Of course I said yes. Well after having the VRBO representative listen to both of us do the math which each other. Being that I’m not a mathematician or accountant. I asked the representative to step in and help because the conversation was tiring. Again to remind you it was $40. To your surprise, I was right and the representative confirmed it. You didn’t like it and hung up.
A few days later I received notification that you disputed the full booking amount with your bank. Which means you received the $500 I refunded you and you’re trying to get the full amount paid back. Darn and all this time I thought only $40 was in dispute. Seems to me you may have stayed somewhere you couldn’t afford. No problem it does happen. Statistically speaking vacations are one of the main things that put people in debt, so I get it.
The fact remains I didn’t have to refund you a dime sir. You caused the pool to turn green and there was no health or safety hazards on the property. You wanted a free vacation. Unfortunately for you sir. you have now publicly written a review that is going to get you convicted of bank fraud amongst other things.
1. Stating you did in fact make the reservation and stayed there. 2. You agreed to only getting a partial refund but you are asking your bank for a full return of payment. You have bitten off more than you can chew Jordan. I am big in principle and will spend $10,000 to make a $1000 point.
Lastly, I hope this little incident teaches you integrity and financial responsibility, amongst other things. Take care bud!
