The West End is one of Durham’s oldest neighborhoods, and historically one of the largest. Located roughly between the Downtown Durham/Durham Bulls Athletic Park and Duke’s West Campus, it is a lovely oasis with close proximity to anywhere you need to be! The neighborhood is home to the Durham Co-op Market, Grub, The Cookery, the historic Maplewood Cemetery, and the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. (If you’re not familiar with West End native Pauli Murray, do yourself a favor and look them up. You’ll wonder how you’ve never heard of them before.) Groceries, coffee/cocktails, restaurants, events and history all within walking distance. If you’re a walker or runner, you are in close proximity to the above-mentioned cemetery, the 1.75mi Duke East Campus trail, and the 26+ mile American Tobacco Trail.
You’ll have the entire home and property to yourself, including off-street parking for up to 2 cars.
We’re delighted to share our home with you! We hope our cozy space will be the same peaceful retreat for you as it is for us after a day of exploring the Bull City. The home has been fully renovated with all the modern amenities, and natural light infuses every room. In the enormous primary bedroom, you’ll sink into the sumptuous king bed, perhaps cuddling up to stream your favorite before-bed show on the 60-in TV. The private bath boasts a double vanity and walk-in double shower! The large closet leaves you plenty of room to unpack. The second bedroom is a serene retreat, also with an attached full bath and a clutter-free work space. Gather in the great room on the cozy couch, large dining table or (as we all do!) around the kitchen counters as you create a meal to share. When the weather’s great - as it is three-quarters of the year - park yourself under the pergola on the back deck with your favorite beverage, and admire our neighbors’ luscious garden. Smart HDTV’s include basic cable, or log into your favorite streaming services. Looking to disconnect? We’ve left some of our favorite games and books for your entertainment. New high efficiency washer & dryer are also available for your use.
We are Delighted Properties, because that is how we want you to feel when you walk in the door. The Bull City is our home and we want to share it with you, through personal recommendations and the items & services we provide throughout your space. Perfect 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home situated in a great location. Close to downtown, funky restaurants and shops on 9th Street, campus and other local attractions, the house is very comfortable and cozy, appointed with everything necessary for an exceptional experience. Lovely.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Location
Disappointing
The house was very clean and set up well inside. The neighborhood was not what we had expected. The streets were very crowded and driveway was only for one car. The AC in the house was not cooling house. We couldn’t get it cooler than 74 degrees. The ice maker was not working also. There were 3 large dogs next door that barked most of the time we were there. When we arrived back on Saturday one of the dogs had gotten into our yard and was at the gate barking at us. I sent a message through Vrbo and was surprised at the response. They thanked me for letting them know, but not concerned if any of these issues had affected our stay. I was a little disappointed with this experience compared to others that we have had.
