About the host
Hosted by Sonja
Lake Placid isn’t just where I host — it’s home. I’ve spent over 20 years managing long-term rentals here and the last 2 years hosting short-term stays, creating spaces that feel comfortable, welcoming, and genuinely cared for.
When I’m not hosting, you’ll find me outside — swimming, gardening, exploring the Adirondacks, or enjoying time with family. I’m always nearby and happy to help make your stay smooth, relaxing, and memorable.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because it’s everything people come to Lake Placid for: quiet charm, mountain views, and walk-everywhere convenience. McKinley House is tucked into a peaceful, friendly area just minutes from Mirror Lake, the Olympic Center, great restaurants, local shops, and the Ironman finish line.
The vibe here is relaxed and welcoming. Mornings start with coffee on the screened porch overlooking the Olympic ski jumps. Days are spent exploring the village. Evenings wind down by the fire pit. McKinley House mirrors the neighborhood itself — cozy, comfortable, and full of character.
What makes this property unique
McKinley House is a one-of-a-kind blend of historic charm and modern comfort, with a location that’s hard to beat. Built in the 1850s, the home has beautiful character — from its creaky wood floors to its wraparound screened-in porch with views of the Olympic ski jumps.
What makes it truly special is the combination of space, privacy, and walkability. Guests have the entire two-story home to themselves, along with a deck, fire pit, and plenty of room to relax — all just minutes from downtown Lake Placid, Mirror Lake beach, and the Olympic venues. Whether you’re here to explore or just kick back, McKinley House offers a cozy, inviting stay in the heart of it all.
