5 stars, 10 out of 10, would recommend again. We had an amazing time. The house was exactly as described. Everyone had space, the walk to the beach was close enough, and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and we really didn't need anything extra. We made memories on this trip.
This house was perfect for our family beach vacation. The description was accurate and location was wonderful and close to the beach. Would definitely stay here again.
My sons and their girlfriends and I have spent our second family beach vacation in this lovely home. It met all our needs perfectly and we look forward to our next visit! We thank our kind hosts for sharing their lovely house.
We had a great week. Bonnet Shores is a great location. The only minor complaint is that the two bedrooms furthest from the AC unit were difficult to cool off.
It was the perfect place for us with grandparents and 2 teen girls. Nice separate space for the girls. Walk to the a lovely beach. Great beach community. It was easy for us to get into Narragansett town, Wickford, Jamestown & Newport.
Close to everything, clean and accessible . We were not aware there was no AC in the upstairs bedrooms but the ceiling fans kept us comfortable at night we also had a great mild week that wasn’t too hot. My only suggestion would be to add ac on the upstairs bedrooms for ultimate comfort .

Thanks for the note and feedback. There is a mini split in the living room on the main floor, which will push down the hallway to the bedrooms if the doors are left open. That being said, it is correct that A/C is not directly vented to the upstairs bedrooms. The basement living room and bedroom both have mini splits.
We had a great week vacation at this property with our 5 and 4 year old.
We brought their scooters with us and they scooted to and from the Kelly Avenue beach each day. The neighborhood is very walkable and has minimal traffic which was a huge plus.
The house was clean and everything we needed was there. The basement level with game room and bedroom was nice but a little musty but it was no problem for us, we just used the 3 bedrooms on the main floor.

We were told that the mini split in dehumidifier mode would reduce moisture, but sounds like that is not the case. We will re-install the dehumidifier. Thanks for the feedback!
This was our first experience with Home Away and it was great from beginning to end. The house was exactly as described and in a perfect location for all we wanted to do. Close to four beaches and the Block Island ferry. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to easily make dinner for both families. The bottom floor was perfect for the boys and they loved the air hockey table.
The house was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. Kara was quick to respond to questions throughout the process!!
I would definitely recommend this property and would love to stay here again!!
This was my family’s third visit to Bonnet Shores and our first visit at this location. Everything was clean and organized upon arrival. Kara and Gary truly want their guests to have an enjoyable stay. During our stay, Kara was happy to “Amazon” two new sand chairs to replace some older models and a brand-new corkscrew when we couldn’t find one on site. While we were not there for the height of the heat wave, we were easily able to keep the upstairs bedrooms cool by setting the air in the living room and using the provided floor fan to push the air down the hallway. We didn’t spend too much time downstairs but did enjoy using the air hockey and soccer table a bit with the kids. The grill was in great condition and dinners on the back deck were quite relaxing. On this visit we enjoyed Kelly Beach (an easy ten-minute walk), Newport, and the Marine Biology Center (an owner recommendation). Being there for July 4th, we were able to walk a few blocks to the water and catch the Newport fireworks and two days later caught the Kelly Beach Club fireworks by walking a few blocks down Treasure Road. Thanks to Kara and Gary for a great place to make summer memories!
Great location, but a variety of things went wrong
My family appreciated the space the house provided for us to spread out, the proximity to the beach, and the quiet neighborhood. We were some of the first people to stay at the property for the summer season, so perhaps that's part of the reason why a number of issues cropped up... When we arrived, the mini splits were not working (no cooling function), and many of the windows were painted shut/screens broken, leaving us overly warm on our first night. The AC was fixed the next day after contacting the owners. Next, the dishwasher started leaking water and soap when we ran it. After calling the owners, they got a plumber in the same day to take a look and it was resolved. Finally, on our third night there at 11:45pm, every single fire alarm went off. We contacted one of the owners and it went to voicemail. We then called the fire department who advised us to evacuate the house. That meant waking up both of our small children and bringing them outside for 30+ minutes at midnight while we waited for the fire fighters to arrive and check the house. No leaks were detected, but the fire fighters determined the alarms were expired and likely the cause of them going off. We were told no one should sleep in the basement until alarms were replaced. Owner came next day and replaced all the alarms. It was frustrating and disruptive to have all of those issues come up, and it seems like owners could've prevented some of them. That said, the owners were very responsive.

Thanks for the review and I appreciate the feedback. With respect to the variety of issues, I completely understand the frustration as no one should have their vacation disrupted the way that your group did. I was there the previous week and didn’t experience a problem with the mini splits myself and the entire first floor was painted two weeks prior, and again I opened the windows myself without issue. That being said, I will ensure that both are working properly. For the dishwasher, I cannot explain why a prior renter would put dish soap in the dishwasher bottle and honestly I don’t think we could have foreseen that or done anything to prevent that. Finally, the smoke detectors going off in the middle of the night - I take full ownership that they were at exactly 10 years old. I don’t know that age was the reason they went off given our experience with recently installed hard-wired alarms in our own house going off without reason as well.
So our sincerest apologies and all I can say is that we do our best to provide a nice, clean, functional home and we will continue to make every effort to do so.
House is great, neighborhood is perfect for walking, riding bikes and beach is walking distance! The beach is perfect for kids. We enjoyed the house, back deck and sleeping accommodations were wonderful. We can’t wait to go back
This is a nice house in a great location:10-15 minute walk to the beach, quite street, nice porch and backyard, basement for kids to play in and store beach carts…. It’s perfect for our group (4 adults and 2 kids).
Excellent location and property for a family vacation.
This is a wonderful location and home for a family vacation. Beaches within walking distance. The home was well maintained and had all the comforts to enjoy your time in the area. The “handout” they provided was very insightful and gave us suggestions for the local area. The owners were very responsive and available, if needed.
We had a fabulous week. Bonnet Shores is a beautiful neighborhood and Kelly beach is perfect!
The house was great with an easy walk to the beach. Beautiful neighborhood and a nice beach. Amazing sunsets at the point. We did a light house boat tour through
The place is perfect for a week with lots of friends in and out and teens spending time together at the beach and overnight. Great basement for them to hang out. Lots of parking. Plenty of space for sleep over guests. Kitchen, bath, and linens could be updated.
Nice, comfortable house in a great location. Good fit for our family plus visitors. The finished basement was perfect for our daughter's family. There was even a porta-crib there for our 1 year old grandson. We loved Kelly Beach. Although there is no parking or bathrooms, we shuttled our crew there and then one of us would zip back via bike which worked out fine. Beautiful neighborhood for walks and biking. We enjoyed the deck, grille and outdoor shower. Kara was always quick to respond and accommodating. We'll be back!
