Outdoor hot tub & indoor soaking tub, bonfire pit, picnic area, foosball & more
Recently renovated, Blue Mountain Retreat is relaxing fall, winter, spring or summer. Located in the heart of Laurel Highlands about a mile from Kooser State Park nestled between Hidden Valley, Seven Springs and Laurel Mountain ski resorts, this family and pet friendly cabin in the woods has everything you need to enjoy an outdoor getaway. Travelers have enjoyed this cozy home in the mountains as a solo rejuvenating escape for 1, a romantic getaway for 2, a family vacation, or a get together with friends/extended family.
Nearby attractions include hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, golfing, star gazing, bird watching, restaurants, spas and more. Enjoy the many trails and ponds nearby at Kooser (2 minute drive), Laurel Hill (7 minute drive) or Forbes (12 minute drive) State Parks. Bike the GAP trail at Rockwood just 15 minutes away. Check out the local resorts for food, golf, spas, mountain biking, special events, skiing and more at Hidden Valley (5 minute drive), Seven Springs (17 minute drive), or Laurel Mountain (30 minute drive). Peruse the local towns of Somerset (15 minute drive), Ligonier (30 minute drive) or Ohiopyle (34 minute drive) for restaurants, shopping, white water rafting and trails. Local attractions also include Idlewild, Caddyshack, Living Treasures Animal Park, Laurel Caverns, Jennerstown Speedway, Fort Ligonier and more! Glade Pike Winery tasting room is just up the road with live music on Saturday nights as well. Check out laurelhighlands.com for more ideas.
Even though you will feel like you are in the middle of the woods in a peaceful setting, if you forget anything a gas station/convenience store is only a 2 minute drive away and a grocery store is only a 20 minute drive away.
Once you settle in, you will enjoy a backyard with a picnic table, gas grill, bonfire pit, and hot tub or the spacious kitchen and spa soaker tub in the first floor bathroom. Excellent WiFi service will help you stay connected to friends, family, and work (Gasp! Only if necessary...you should be relaxing!) or allow you to finally binge watch that series you always wanted to see. A variety of games, foosball, and darts will help you stay entertained and unplug from screens too!
3 bedrooms and 2 baths accommodates a maximum of 8 people and 2 well behaved, house trained dogs. There is an additional $30 per night pet fee when fur family joins you at the cabin. Please be sure to check the pet box when booking to pay during booking your reservation, or pay it before your arrival.
If you have additional people or pets in your party, please message to inquire about also renting Mountain Grove (with indoor treehouse kid gaming room also accommodating up to 8 people. See VRBO.com/3615517 ) adjacent to Blue Mountain Retreat. Multiple families have enjoyed renting both cabins for relaxing family reunions or birthday celebrations.
The location off of 31 makes it easily accessible year round, but far enough off the road to be peacefully tucked in the woods. A limit of 3 cars per cabin has to be maintained because there is no overflow parking available nearby (AWD or 4WD vehicles during the winter months of snow are required for ease of access). Visitors should be accounted for in your reservation.

Thank you! Kids and adults love the spacious backyard safely tucked between our two rental cabins. Fun fact, if you ever want to rent both, the cabin next door has an indoor treehouse that kids love! It is a great multi family get away. When my brother and his family come into town, his family stays here and we stay next door with our parents since both cabins can accommodate up to 16 people (8 at each cabin). One house becomes the stay up late house, and one becomes the go to bed early for little ones and rise with coffee & breakfast house. The kids love going in between since they are so close and safe for enjoying the hot tub, s'mores by the bonfire, and indoor treehouse video gaming or movie watching. So happy that you enjoyed making Laurel Highlands memories together too & hope you come again!
Great location, good communication and extremely clean. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Thank you so much! We love this location too since it is so easy to get to any of the 3 ski resorts or several state parks for Laurel Highlands hiking and outdoor adventuring. Somerset is just 15 minutes away that has everything you could need too, but the cabin feels remote tucked away in a little neighborhood of Conservation Civilian Corps cabins for a wonderful get away! Please come again!
Thank you! Even when the weather doesn't cooperate, there's still so much fun to be had & memories to make. So happy you had a wonderful weekend after all & got on the slopes. The nice thing about less than ideal weather is shorter lift lines! Come back anytime!
Very nice and clean, great location close to ski resorts. Host was very friendly and responsive

Thank you so much! We pride ourselves on good hospitality and housekeeping! It is such an easy drive to any of the 3 ski resorts from our cabin that we sometimes do all 3 in one weekend since they each have their own vibe. Thank you for choosing and taking good care of our mountain home. Please come again!
The host was very good at communicating everything we could ever need. The house was located perfectly and was perfectly kept. Could not have asked for better accommodations!

Thank you so much for coming all the way from Texas to enjoy the snow. It is a pretty easy drive from Pittsburgh airport about an hour and half away or Latrobe airport about 40 minutes away. Downtown Pittsburgh is only about an hour away so guests sometimes enjoy a Pens, Steelers, or Pirates game or any of the museums and restaurants in downtown Pittsburgh while visiting too! We also always love when guests come back home to see family & enjoy making memories at our cabin. Safe travels! We thank you for taking such good care of our home & hope to host you again in the future!
We had a wonderful stay at Blue Mountain Retreat! The house is in a great location, close to skiing. Everything was very clean when we arrived and the kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tub came in clutch after a full day of skiing, and the kids enjoyed the foosball table and other games in the house. We would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for choosing our mountain home. I'm delighted that all of you loved your stay! The kids always love the bunk beds, foosball and hot tub steps away from the house. Parents love the convenient short drives to any of the 3 ski resorts, especially Hidden Valley which is less than 10 minutes away. We hope to host you again!! Come anytime! I am always happy to help with suggestions for local activities or anything you need.

Wonderful news! We are excited to host you and your friends for your annual gal's ski weekend again next year! Our weekends always sell out in the fall foliage prime time in September and October and winter ski season in December, January, February and March so you are smart to grab your choice weekend now. Thank you for choosing and taking good care of our mountain home! See you again next year!

Thank you so much! We know how much more enjoyable and relaxing our vacations are when we know where to get essentials and have plenty of food options to choose from for our current vibe. It feels like the cabin is a remote escape, but there are so many convenient places within a 20 minute drive. If there are any questions about the cabin or Laurel Highlands area, I am always happy to help and try to be proactive so everything is easy. So glad that you had a wonderful time! Please come again!
The host was fantastic. She had great recommendations for things to do in the area and was quick to respond to all of my questions. The property was conveniently located, nicely furnished, but not so fancy that I had to stress about what the kids would get into . We stayed with 4 adults and 4 kids under 6. The space was big enough and we were able to get all 8 of us around the table for meals The kitchen had all the things we needed to cook meals. We enjoyed the fire pit and the backyard. There were a variety of games in the closet to help keep the kids entertained on one of the chillier days. I'd consider this rental again if we decide to go to the area in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend!!!! Our host, Lisa was amazing. She went over and beyond! We were visiting to ski however the lift tickets were sold out. I notified her and she went out of her way and hooked us up with her personal buddy passes. We were pleasantly surprised with her generosity. The house is spacious and extrmely comfortable. Property pristine. They shut down the ski mountain and Lisa gave us the option to cancel our reservation. We decided to go anyway and had a blast! Thank you for everything! You just check out this VRBO!!!!
This cabin has wonderful modern touches and amenities but still felt like a private retreat. Was a great location for going to the parks during the day and then coming back in the evening for some fire therapy and soaking in the hot tub. Host was very responsive and provided great details for enjoying the area. Would definitely consider returning for ski season.

My husband and I love to rehab properties and keep a few gems to ourselves that we like to share with others. We love being close to hiking, biking, skiing, restaurants and that feeling like you are going back to a simpler time. Playing board games and hanging out with friends and family around a campfire make all of the hard work renovating houses worth it. Please come enjoy our home that we lovingly and creatively reinvented.
