The Space:
Morning light filters through the dome as mist drifts across the mountains, and nights settle in quietly with stars overhead and crisp air all around you. The stillness of the woods invites you to slow down, and feel completely immersed in the landscape. Whether you’re soaking after a day outside or curled up indoors with the view beyond the windows, the rhythm here is unhurried and grounding.
The dome is designed as a cozy, well-appointed retreat that blends comfort with the surrounding scenery. Inside, you’ll find a king bed positioned for restful nights, enhanced by a heated mattress topper that’s especially welcome during mountain evenings. The sleeping area flows seamlessly into the rest of the space, creating an open, inviting layout that feels both intimate and spacious.
Bathroom & Comfort
A full indoor bathroom with a shower allows you to freshen up, and bathroom essentials are provided for convenience. Heating keeps the dome comfortable through nights, while air conditioning is available for warmer days. WiFi supports streaming and video calls, and the TV makes it easy to wind down after sunset.
Kitchen & Dining
The dome includes a kitchen space where you can prepare simple meals and snacks during your stay. It’s well-suited for relaxed mornings with coffee or easy dinners back at the dome after exploring the area, letting you stay in and enjoy the quiet.
Outdoor Living
Step out onto the deck to take in mountain views that change with the light and weather. The hot tub is a standout feature year-round. Backyard area connects you to the surrounding landscape without leaving the property. Free parking and a private entrance make coming and going simple.
Setting & Surroundings
Serenity Base is part of a larger private retreat known as Cooper Mountain, with two other domes located nearby - one approximately 60 feet away and the other over 120 feet away. While you may occasionally see other guests, your own deck, hot tub are dedicated to your stay, preserving a sense of privacy within the shared setting.
The dome sits alongside a 37-acre private nature preserve, offering access to wooded trails and open areas to explore. The natural environment is very much part of the experience here, and as with most mountain stays, you may notice occasional leaves, pollen, or small insects, especially during seasonal transitions.
Longer Stays
For stays of 14 nights or longer, guests will be asked to e-sign a rental agreement prior to arrival. This agreement helps us comply with local requirements while protecting the property, and will be sent in advance for review.
Exploring the Area
When you venture out, you’re within about 20 minutes of a wide range of outdoor recreation, including hiking, fishing, hunting, lake swimming, and whitewater rafting. After a day in the elements, returning to the warmth of the dome feels especially rewarding.
This stay is well-suited for guests who appreciate nature, quiet surroundings, and a glamping experience that prioritizes comfort while staying connected to the outdoors.
Note
Serenity Base is part of a large private retreat (Cooper Mountain), with two other domes nearby. One dome is about 60 feet away, and the other is over 120 feet away. While you may see other guests at these properties during your stay, Serenity Base is still quite secluded — with your own private hot tub and deck. BTW, if you’re interested in booking all three domes, please let us know!
Our dome is tucked into the mountains, offering a truly unique and peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. Unlike a traditional home, domes aren’t sealed in the same way, so you may occasionally spot a bug or two inside. While this isn’t typically an issue for most of the year, you might see more small insects—like crickets—during early spring and summer.
We do our best to manage this with regular treatments and thorough cleanings, but a few curious visitors may still sneak in. If you're looking for pristine hotel-like conditions, this might not be the right fit—but if you love the outdoors and a bit of adventure, you'll feel right at home!
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – Serenity Base in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
