We had a great stay! The kids absolutely loved it and had hours of fun playing. We also really appreciated that it was dog-friendly, which made it possible for the whole family to be together. A great place to unwind, relax, and enjoy time with family!

This cabin has it all. Beautiful location, wonderful design and decor, comfortable bedrooms and linens and pillows, tons of amenities, very well stocked kitchen, plenty of wood supplied for fires and very family friendly.Very nice bathrooms as well. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here!!

Great Stay!

Best way to relax

This was one of the most relaxing vacations I ever had. We stayed for 5 days and only left the property once to head into Winchester. The amenities are terrific ... we were never bored. I will definitely be back.

Lovely Family Retreat

The property has a large variety of activities to keep a family entertained: pool table, darts, hot tub, fire pits, cornhole, board games, and more. We were unlucky in that our trip fell during bad weather that kept us from fishing or hiking. However, the entire family had a great time!

Amazing

The house and location were amazing. Despite the cold temperatures, we enjoyed our stay. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed. For those of you who love to sky gaze, bring your telescopes. The night sky showed a nice view of the Milky Way. We would definitely go back.

Beautiful home. Very well equipped. Amazing outside space with wrap around porch, tons of comfortable seating, plunge pool and fire pits. Very secluded and isolated so you can relax. Pricey - But Worth it!

Stayed here for my 40th birthday, which justified the higher price point. Well worth the rate for this property! The heated soaking tub was a hit! We caught a few smallmouth bass. The fireplace was great too! WiFi was good - was able to stream the college football game on YouTube TV. Comfortable beds, high end linens and towels. Kitchen is set up for hosting. All in all, a phenomenal, and quiet, property!

Mountainaire Magic

All of us...ages 9 months to almost 80 enjoyed our stay here immensely. The inside is more than comfortable but the outside screen porch and deck area are outstanding! The hike up Ice Mountain was just right for the 9 year old and the 80 year old as well...with a sensational view as a reward. The plunge pool provided literally hours of good fun for the children and adults alike. The weather was perfect so we didn't spend too much time indoors but there appeared to be lots to do inside too...pool table, darts, games galore, projector and screen. The hosts are very responsive and it is obvious they tried hard to anticipate every need. A lovely family weekend was had by all.

Even better than expected

This is such a beautiful, unique and one of a kind property. It is just as wonderful (if not better!) than the photos convey. This property feels like you have arrived at a luxury resort - from the welcome goodies to the immaculate decorations, the plethora of indoor and outdoor games, to the the endlessly beautiful touches inside and around the home (we especially loved the lighted path toward the river). The hosts were wonderful and very responsive. We spent our days in the plunge pool, playing games on the screened in deck, making s’mores by the fire, and exploring the river. Would love to stay again. Thank you Stephen and Mary!

The Perfect Getaway

If you want a place to relax and refresh, this is the place. This house is quiet, big enough to have privacy from other guests, and laid out well for game nights around the table or s'mores at the fire table or fire pit. We enjoyed the covered porch- sitting in the rocking chairs and having dinners. Ice Mountain was a nice hike. The house itself was welcoming and accommodating for space. There was room to have privacy from the other guests in our party, and plenty of family space to enjoy each other's company. We went to Winchester, Virginia for a few hours one day and Capone Bridge. Otherwise we were content on the property.This house had something for everyone. We did find the house in need of a good deep cleaning in the showers and kitchen, but given the busy season for renting we assumed somethings had been overlooked. That aside, we would and have highly recommended this house.

Extraordinary Property

This gorgeous cabin lacks for nothing. The kitchen is completely stocked with anything you might need and beautiful appliances. Stephen and Mary provided an abundance of towels, linens and other toiletries. The house has so many unique touches that make it feel more like a home than just a rental, and overall it is tastefully comfortable with very high quality furnishings. Hands down, the screened in wrap around porch was our family's favorite feature. The deck and plunge pool were both beautiful and offered a wonderful place for the kids to play. The path down to the river is short and the lighting was very much appreciated once it got dark. My granddaughters (ages 4 and 6) slept in the bunk beds in the basement and loved it. The bathrooms are both spacious and opulent. Truly, words cannot capture the wonder of this property. This was our first vacation as an entire extended family and we couldn't have chosen a better place.

Adult size private beds?

Wrap around porch was the best!!! Kids lived in the pool. Ball got stuck in pool table the first night. At first size of interior seemed small compared to pictures. Wall guide helped us get the projector screen and shows working and the gas grill and fire pit working for us. Family with three kids used top floor for Privacy and noise. 2 adult men had some difficulty finding long enough beds. One ended up sleeping outside. He liked it there 4 nights. He is 6’2”. The other adult was in basement. Basement had odor daughter-in-law law found divet with blood stain on their bed. . She traded it for a clean one.

Awesome cabin. River is 100 yards away through woods. You will never find a better wraparound porch. Perfect stay except for one thing before renting you should know. There are a lot of cameras. Ring doorbell which is standard. Then every outside corner has 1-2 cameras pointing to yard. One is pointed towards back deck couches facing rear of property. If you walk in the woods towards the river the neighbor has a trail cam w a no trespassing sign. If you hike up the mountain there is a camera on you as you cross the walking bridge. When you go to a cabin the woods you just don’t expect to see surveillance/security cameras everywhere. Two aluminum canoes are locked under porch, they should be unlocked, they are indestructible. That being said, I’d still rent again.

Absolutely stunning!

Stunning, cozy, warm and charming. I knew this place was special the moment we pulled up. We stayed duing the holiday season and the house was so very tastefully decorated. But the best part was the attention to detail that the owners provided to make you feel not only welcomed but special. The moment I got home I started pruchasing things for my own home! I like to travel and because I love to try new things, new adventures, I never stay at the same place twice. This cabin is an exception! I would stay here over and over again. Mary and Stephen have gone above and beyond with this home. It was a privilege to be able to stay here. <3

Wonderful mountain retreat

Each family member, ranging from Grandma to teens, loved our stay at this property! Really, how can you not? The indoor space is meticulously designed and very comfortable. However it’s the outdoor space that is truly a marvel. The wrap around screened in porch is a dream. Everyone found a spot to relax and then later we all gathered together around the outdoor dining table on the porch and fire table on the lower deck . The plunge spa was a bonus after taking the very short walk over to the entrance of ice mountain where the hike was enjoyable and the view at the end amazing . We came to relax and spend quality time together and that is exactly what we did! Such a nice break from the hustle and bustle of NorthernVA. We are all talking about going back every year if possible! Highly recommend.

Beyond Expecations

As impressive as the photographs and property description on VRBO proved to be, our arrival immediately confirmed we had made a great choice. The property has many unmentioned upscale amenities, Check-in was seamless and Stephen and Mary were responsive with any questions and eager to ensure our stay was special. The outdoor space is spectacular and the kids spent several periods of rain frolicking on the wrap around screened in porch and swimming in the small pool. Though the property is located in a somewhat isolated and secluded private neighborhood, we found plenty to do and see and made several trips to Winchester which was only a forty minute drive! All in all we could not recommend more highly!

Amazing house and property

Wonderful house with tons of activities for everybody. The proximity to the river and great ice mountain hiking trail was stellar. Highly recommended! The owners go above and beyond to be extremely accommodating and were very responsive! The interior of the house is simply amazing as depicted in the pictures and we spent most of our time on the wrap around screened in porch.
