About this property

'Just in the Moment' Quaint Cottage Near Historic New Bern


The cottage is located in a small village just across the Neuse River from downtown New Bern. Just down the street is the new Bridgetown Harbor Marina. This cozy home was built in the 1950's and has been updated with all modern amenities. It has been decorated in a 'shabby chic' beach theme. You can enjoy a sun porch with a Nags Head hammock porch swing and rocking chairs. Perfect for relaxing, reading a good book or listening to music.

You are within walking distance of the river or you can use one of the bikes provided. There are 2 kayaks available.You will find a covered back deck with picnic table and gas grill to cook your evening meals. Inside, the home has 2 large bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a full and twin bed. Each bedroom offers TV connected to satellite. You will find 2 full baths, a fully equipped kitchen with stove, frig, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen also offers a breakfast bar where you can eat as well.

There is a beautiful dining room for more 'formal' dining with an adjoining living room. The living area also has a flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure. Linens are provided or you may bring your own. There is a washer and dryer available just off of the kitchen. You can also use the office area complete with desk and bookshelves. WiFi can be accessed.

Just across the bridge you can visit historic downtown New Bern where you will find shops, restaurants, marinas and parks. Be sure to check out all the Bears around the city. It is only a 30 min drive to Atlantic Beach and 1 hour from Cape Lookout. An information packet will be available upon arrival to tell you where the many local attractions can be found.
We have done a number of renovations including new LVP flooring in the dining and living rooms, new siding and roof, new shed roof and additional landscaping. The kitchen has new cabinets and granite countertops. Updates occur on a regular basis.

The kitchen, thebathrooms were outstanding in cleanliness anditems stocked. The laundry had soap and softner as well as, items to clean with. When we needed help with a small issue, the host responded right away. Ihave never stayed at rented home as nice as this one.

Absolutely wonderful! Our home away from home! We have never stayed in such a cute, or more charming and comfortable place like this home! The minute we walked in we were in awe by the way it was decorated and so inviting. You could tell that Mickey put a lot of love into this cottage so others would truly have a peaceful and relaxing vacation. It was very well stocked with everything you need. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are super comfortable. There is a cute sun porch in the front that has a nice swing , which my granddaughter loved and we enjoyed the gliders. We also enjoy the back of the house with nice sitting areas and very relaxing.The cottage was also very close to New Bern. Just a short drive and we were there. As far as the host Mickey, you could not ask for a more nicer person! Fantastic communicator and always responded to any question we had. She also has so much compassion for people and really helped our family as we were dealing with a sad family issue. Very supportive and caring! Thanks for everything Mickey! We can’t wait to come back and enjoy your beautiful home!!

We had a great time at the Just in the Moment cottage. This is a quaint little cottage in a very quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was well stocked, and we loved the fenced in back porch with the nice little seating areas. It is just minutes away from New Bern, and only an hour away from the ferry to Cape Lookout. We would love to come back for more than the weekend next time.

Cozy and Comfortable

We really enjoyed this home. The enclosed front porch and the back deck were wonderful spots to relax and the neighborhood was quiet and very walkable. We saw many types of birds an and lots of squirrels, great entertainment. The beds were really comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was a big plus. I hope this home is available for my next visit.

As advertised, in what can only be described as America’s quietest town Bridgeton NC. The accommodations were clean and fresh smelling in what can only be described as a home away from home. Lots of AC, plenty of fans and laundry too! Fenced in yard made for a comfortable month for our senior huskies too. Recommendation of the highest for 3 nights or like us a value for 30 day stay!

The property and location were perfect for us. We were in town for a family wedding and it was close to everyone and everything. Wish we would have found park up street the first day but we went the wrong direction on our walk! Super cute! We really enjoyed our stay!

Comfy and cozy!

We absolutely loved this house! Check in instructions were clear and easy to follow, house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the sun room and patio area especially! The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors we spoke to were friendly. Hosts were very responsive and set up the home very thoughtfully. It's a great location with easy access to New Bern. We will try to stay here again next time we come to the area.

Perfect Location for Weekend Visit to New Bern

I relocated to New Bern from VA in 2004, looking for a new adventure. I am a nurse and have 2 grown daughters, a stepson and stepdaughter. I married a wonderful man from my hometown in VA after moving to NC and after much soul-searching, decided to move back to VA to be closer to my family. Together, my husband and I decided this home would make a great place to retire.
We have 2 dogs, love working in the yard, traveling, gardening and remodeling projects.

Why they chose this property

I purchased this home in 2004 and lived there for almost 5 years. I love the area and find it is close to everything, while still being in a quaint waterside neighborhood. It is quiet and peaceful and the neighbors are friendly. When I decided to move back to VA to be closer to family, I knew I wanted to keep the home, hopefully to retire there in the future. I really wanted to be able to have the home available to me and my family whenever we could visit, so vacation rental seemed like a great option. I love the beach and it is close enough to get there within 30 min.

What makes this property unique

The name of the cottage, 'Just In the Moment Coastal Cottage' has special meaning to me. I lost my only nephew Justin, (notice the first 2 words!) to melanoma. Justin lived life to the fullest and even though he was only 27, he experienced more in his short life than most do. Because he loved his career as a commercial pilot, you will find a very cool Aviator Bear in the home in his memory. I know Justin would tell you life is best lived in moments and to treasure each moment in time as if it may be your last. That is why I am not waiting to share my home with others. Waiting for 'the right time' never happens. That time is now. I hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.
