Eastern Market Suites is a charming, newly renovated Victorian house featuring a three room suite on the first level, offering a single bedroom w/queen-size bed, a double-size sofa-bed in your tastefully furnished living room, and other high-end amenities. Located at the Eastern Market Metro station, on Capitol Hill, in Washington, DC., we are less than two blocks from the historic Eastern Market (circa 1873), where visitors enjoy fresh produce six days a week and an outdoor flea market featuring antiques and local artisan's wares every weekend. Your suite is around the corner from Barrack's Row (a very popular destination point for restaurants, coffee shops and shopping), and 1/2 block from easy subway access to anywhere in or around the city.

Recognized as one of the safest and and most conveniently pedestrian friendly neighborhoods in the country, we have been rated at 94 out of 100%.

Sometimes your trip is enhanced when you stay somewhere and feel like a local. This property was great for that - close to the metro, Trader Joes, the historic Eastern market, etc. We loved it for that reason. Kirk sent us all of the relevant info we needed and more. The only thing we didn't love was the peeling paint in the living room and the weird stuff underneath the bathroom fan that blew on the wall. Towels could definitely be upgraded but those things aside - charming townhome on beautiful street, well appointed and clean. We would definitely stay again.

Another great stay at this property!

We actually stayed on the top floor of the house, rather than this unit to better accommodate another family but the space was great! It was very tastefully decorated and well equipped, nicely climate controlled (cool despite warmth and humidity), and the parking permit is a real bonus! Great location - close to wonderful restaurants, Metro, and Trader Joe's.

Eastern Market Suites (EMS): A Great Weekend Getaway Choice

The EMS property was just as described, and quite lovely. The first floor apartment was spacious enough to make us feel very comfortable, and the neighborhood was lovely -- and quiet! Kirk was terrific throughout the booking process, and the fact that the property has been in his family for generations means he takes extra special care of it. When we next visit DC, we would definitely stay here again. Thanks for all.

Beautiful apartment in unbeatable location

My four year old son and I stay at the Eastern Suites for a long weekend and had the best time. The location cannot be beat. The apartment is half a block from the Eastern Market metro station and one block from all of the fabulous restaurants along 8th St. The neighborhood is beautiful and very walkable. The apartment itself is lovely and Kirk is such a wonderful, super responsive host! This is going to be our go-to rental every time we’re in the District!

Great location

You cannot beat the proximity to the metro station. Unit was clean and as described. My one complaint is that I am fairly short and the height of some fixtures like the kitchen cabinets and bathtub were definitely made for someone taller. It wouldn't stop me from staying here again, though.

Beautiful Capitol Hill Apartment

This spot is perfect for those looking to stay on Capitol Hill. It's just a few doors down from the metro, and feels very peaceful. Newer bathroom and kitchen, full cooking facilities, and well-appointed and decorated. You must understand there is--unavoidably--noise in old buildings, so if hearing footsteps above occasionally will drive you nuts, this probably isn't your place. If, however, you like vintage buildings, an authentic neighborhood experience and a thoughtfully and comfortably decorated home-away-from-home, it's a perfect spot.

Love the location!

We enjoyed our stay at the Eastern Market Suite near the Capitol. The location is perfect for touring the Capitol and Smithsonian Museums. We were able to take the Metro everywhere as the Eastern Market stop is so close. The photographs of the Eastern Market Suite in Vrbo do not do the beautiful apartment justice. It has original Victorian charm and is yet comfortable. We would stay again!

The apartment is in a charming neighborhood, super conveniently located for the metro, Eastern Market, groceries, restaurants, bars, coffee, etc. It's a lovely place, comfortable, attractive and private. Communication with the owner about the details was super straightforward, and everything about the place was as described. This was our second time staying here, and we would happily stay again. Just a block or two away from the metro, for coming and going to the Mall, as well as offering tons of fun spots for food/drink and strolling right in the neighborhood.

Great location, very clean!

This property is in an excellent location. Conveniently close to Eastern Market Metro, and many awesome restaurants. Was so nice to walk to dinner! We especially loved Hank's Oyster Bar, Aqua Al 2, and Ted's Bulletin and Cava Mezze. Our communication with Kirk was very prompt and thorough. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. The only minor complaint would be the noise from the people above(could hear them walking); but that was mentioned in the property description; and again minor. We would definitely stay here again. Loved it!

Amazing gem

I did not know anything about Washington when my family decided to go there. I came across Keith’s place and it sounded very good. Well when we got there I was surprised how beautiful the neighborhood is. The Metro is super close so is Trader Joe’s and the CVS. The neighborhood is quit and the bed is very good. I was considering not leaving but I had to go back to work...

Perfect for our family

This was the perfect location for us for a quick family trip to DC. The metro was a block away, Trader Joe's was too! The place was just what we needed in terms of space, provisions, and cleanliness. Perfectly sized unit in older, nicely updated unit in appealing neighborhood. Host was very accommodating and friendly. Furnishing in unit very nicely updated with high end appliances. Would advise to check map carefully - this rental is in DC Southeast and may or may not be convenient to the location of your activities. I was, however, able to walk to the Capitol in less than 20 minutes.

The perfect location for our 2-week stay

The home is ideally located near the Metro station and is in a wonderful, walkable neighborhood with a diverse population and so many excellent restaurants. Definitely recommend Hand's Oyster Bar, Mr. Henry's, Ted's Bulletin, Matchbox, and Ophelia's. The Eastern Market was about 2 blocks away with a huge selection of fresh food - vegetables, meats, pasta, snacks, pastries. Weekends at the Market were even better with a large selection of street vendors with merchandise, food, and a large flea market. Trader Joe's, CVS, a post office, FedEx office, liquor stores, coffee shops, bagel shop - everything you need is a very short walk. We felt safe walking everywhere in the neighborhood and everyone was very helpful with directions when we needed them. Living in a rural area in the West, we have never used public transportation on a regular basis, so were a little anxious about using it to get around DC. However, the WMATA website was extremely helpful and we used the trains every day of our stay. Again, so nice that the Eastern Market station is about a half block away from the home. The home was very comfortable and it was especially great having a washer and dryer in the unit since we were there for 2 weeks. It is true that you can hear some of the upstairs guests walking around, but what little noise we did hear was limited to reasonable morning and evening hours. We did have to do some cleaning to be able to use the back porch and the patio furniture on it, but it was nicely quiet and private. The construction next door that some previous guests mentioned was not going on while we were there so was not at all an issue for us. Kirk was very responsive throughout the booking process and to the two requests that we had during our visit. We appreciated his help and promptness.

Kirk Beatley is a native Washingtonian who bought this house from relatives in 2008, which he then meticulously restored and renovated to updated while retaining the original 1890 Victorian ambiance. This lovely Victorian house has been in the family since 1905 when his great grandmother and her daughter purchased the house so that her daughter would raise her own family. Now a new generation of Washingtonians would like you to have the opportunity of experiencing living on Capitol Hill.
