About this property

Schoodic Loft Cabin "The Roost" with Kayaks

This playful cabin offers a unique spot to unwind and explore the Schoodic peninsula and Downeast Maine. Kayaks are provided to explore island studded 462 acre Jones pond, a 10 minute walk down a trail. A 10 minute drives brings you to the less visited Schoodic section of Acadia NP, where a network of hiking and biking trails lace the coastal forests and dramatic rocky coast. Nearby Winter Harbor has shops and restaurants and even a ferry across the bay to Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island.
The space
This cabin was designed to be a fun getaway spot and we're happy to share it. It's a playful and comfortable little spot with everything you need to unwind. Cook your own meals in very functional kitchen with a propane range and stove, and undercounter mini fridge and freezer. Relax around the firepit with a local brew and meet the local raccoons, watch a movie from our collection on the 42" flat-screen or hike the 10 minutes down the pond trail and take the kayaks out on 462 acre Jones pond where you may see loons or beavers. There is a gas fireplace indoors for heat and firepit outdoors as well. No air conditioning but high ceilings, a coastal breeze, and good ventilation keep it comfortable. There is a memory foam queen bed in the loft. No WIFI here but there is usually great cell service. There is takeout pizza and Mexican minutes away if you don't feel like cooking and a handful of restaurants and bars in nearby Winter Harbor. Schoodic section of Acadia is an often overlooked but truly beautiful section of the park and is just a ten minute drive from the cabin. Enjoy some solitude on the rugged pink granite coastline and woodland trails here, largely free of crowds. Nature preserves abound and there are many hiking opportunities close by, aside from the park.
