Enjoy our beautiful pool or gorgeous nearby beaches. Large (45 by 22) pool with bluestone patios and wisteria-covered arbor, surrounded by rhododendrons and an English garden. Pool is open Memorial Day-Labor Day.
With so much room both inside and out, our home is perfect for multi-generational families. The layout gives privacy, but also space for everyone to be together.
Built by a prominent sea captain who fought in the Revolutionary War, our home is infused with charm, character and beautiful details evoking its rich history and the sea.
Poised on 4 verdant acres. Rolling lawns, massive trees, flowering shrubs and English gardens create an ideal county setting.
The main house is decorated in an English country style with antiques and original hardwood floors. It sleeps up to 8 with 2 kings, 1 queen and 1 full bed. The Writer's Annex can sleep up to 4 more (double upstairs and queen sofa bed downstairs) and is available at additional cost.
Enjoy walking, biking or a five minute drive to Singing Beach; A scenic 15 minute drive to Crane's Beach. Walk to town.

Mary has worked for the Brookline Public Health Department for 20 years. Married to Owen, an administrator for the Brookline School system, they have two grown children, and a golden retriever. Favorite activities include early morning runs on Crane's Beach and afternoon walks around Black and White beach. We also enjoy kayaking up the Essex river. Mary's sister, Dana, also helps with the house.

This 1790 Sea Captain's estate is infused with historic charm. Stately situated on a beautifully landscaped 4,1 acres, the estate is perfect for enjoying nature and the ocean. With 5,000 square feet the home is both spacious and private. . Close to some the best beaches in New England. Manchester-by-the-Sea, established 1645, exudes a delightful village charm. It is on Cape Ann, the more relaxed, less crowded Cape. Cape Ann's beauty is recognized by the many renown artists who chose to paint here including Winslow Homer, Milton Avery and Edward Hopper. The area still has a thriving artist community and art galleries. The seafood is among the world's best. Local farm stands are minutes from the house. Excellent restaurants are close by. Manchester-by-the-Sea has a superb public school system, an excellent library, tennis, basketball and pickleball courts. We are just over 30 minutes from Boston with its rich cultural heritage and its renown arts institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts. Boston is also easily accessible by train. From New York: Boston is just 3 and 1/2 hours by Acela or 50 minutes on the Delta shuttle- Arrive in less time than getting to Montauk, and to a much more relaxed pace.

The charm of our historic character combined with English Country comfort including plush, down filled sofas and chairs, a leather recliner - relaxation is yours! The four acres feature gorgeous gardens, large lawns and a pool. ( Pool is shared with carriage house). The established trees provide for shade and cooling summer breezes. A wealth of birds regularly visit the estate including hummingbirds and a family of wild turkeys.
