The Osprey cabin at Walker Pond is a new cabin (2021) with a custom cedar hot tub! It is a rustic retreat with plenty of modern convenience and is just 120 feet from Walker Pond. Walker Pond is approximately 20 acres and is home to plenty of wildlife, small fish and transient birds. You are welcome to enjoy our 40 acres of forest/wetland, go canoeing in one of our canoes, or enjoy the common campfire-flower garden area.
The cabin is located just 5 minutes from downtown Newport.
Unique in design, this rustic cabin is fully functioning with all the essentials provided to make your stay comfortable. The custom built French windows open completely so you will have a great view of the pond! Everything inside is custom built, including the tile shower. Also included is a mini kitchen that contains essentials to prepare basic meals, gas grill, charcoal grill, large wall mounted TV, wifi, coffee, tea and our popular waffles.
You will have access to the land and pond, so we invite you to go on a nature walk, have a campfire or go canoeing. You never know what kinds of animals you might see! So far we have seen moose, deer, bear, Osprey, Eagles, turkey, geese, ducks, heron, owls, otter, huge turtles, fish, and frogs.... just to name a few. Get your camera ready!
Guests will have access to: . Hot tub • 1 Queen Sized Bed • Small bistro patio • Grill • Small Kitchen • TV and DVD player • Walking Trails • Walker Pond (You can bring your own canoe or kayak and fishing gear. Although, we provide canoes. For your safety, you must wear a life jacket whenever you are on the water and have a fishing license if you would like to fish. The pond inhabits Perch and Horned Pout. Sorry, swimming is not permitted).
You're welcome to access the fire pit and garden area. This is shared space with other guests who are staying in the treehouse. You're also able to access the canoe, which is located near the pond.
We like to meet you when you arrive, show you around, and answer questions you may have. If we are unable to meet you when you arrive, we will give you notice and instructions to get settled in.
We live on the property and will most likely be here working away from the cabin to ensure you have privacy. Most days we can be reached very quickly if you need us. Please feel free to message, call or knock on the door. In addition, we have a dog named Wally. He is an eleven year old Beagle and a very calm loving dog. You might meet him if we bring him along with us at your arrival.
We live on the property and do not have neighbors around it, although you will see two houses across the pond, that's the closest neighbors.
Having a vehicle is easy to get around town. There is no lift or Uber or even taxis available in our area.
In winter months, having winter tires or even better an AWD system vehicle is a must. Winter in Vermont is harsh with roads being very slippery.
We have a second rental, the Treehouse on Walker Pond. It's about 200 ft from the Osprey Cabin .

What an amazing find Osprey Cabin is! My son and I were in town to ski at Jay Peak and this was the sweetest cabin experience to share with him. Small cabin meets full on modern amenities...could live here "tiny house style" for an extended period. It was private, very well appointed, and very well supported by onsite owners in their own residence a few hundred yards away. Will definitely be back!!!
Very nice secluded it was definitely as advertised. The hosts were incredibly personable even meeting us at the firepit to introduce themselves. The cabin was impeccably clean, hot tub was perfect after a long day of looking at foliage and the fire pit with the wood provided was an excellent relaxation point. I would highly recommend this property.
The cabin was very nicely decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub each night, it was a great way to end our day to watch the sun set over the hill.

We really enjoyed our Valentine’s Day weekend getaway in the Osprey Cabin. Hosts were very communicative and friendly, always helping wherever they can. The cabin itself was so cozy and warm, and the hot tub was a cherry on top! Hopefully we’ll be able to come back another time in better weather!

Super private and comfortable! Andrew and Marilou , proprietors , were welcoming from the beginning until we had to leave for job life. The Osprey Cabin was perfect for ourselves! Loved the waffle bar , just an added bonus. The hot tub was amazing as was the firepit where we met new friends! Definitely coming back!
The personal touches, view, meticulous grounds, warm welcome, delicious pancakes, amazing hot tub and warm cottage exceeded the highest of expectations. But most of all. The privacy, quiet, view and warm setting lends itself to laughter, conversation and wonderful memories.
