Overall, our stay was okay, but the property did not match the listing photos. The outside of the home was very poorly maintained. When we arrived, there was a large tree limb lying across the upper deck, and it gave the impression that the exterior hadn’t been cared for in quite some time. The inside of the house was fairly clean, which we appreciated. However, several of the games provided were damaged or missing pieces. Our family still managed to have a good time and made the best of it, but for the price we paid, the property did not meet our expectations or reflect what was advertised. Host was helpful.
Our group was travel friends who get together about once a year just to reconnect. The Blue Skies Lakefront was a great place to stay, It would be great for a large family because there are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The kitchen was lacking in some basics such as sharp knives for food prep, not enough flatware should the entire house be occupied, Owner was quick to respond when we had questions. There are not enough places to go out to dinner, so I recommend bringing plenty of groceries. There is a Brookshire's grocery store about 8 miles away, easy to get to, full complement of groceries and a nice, clean store. Overall a nice first experience for me booking through Vrbo.
My family and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend. Overall, the lake house was nice, close to fun places like Whatz Up Fun Park and a Bowling Alley. A few things stood out that made this an average experience.Pros: Good locationGreat viewsRenovated homeResponsive hostQuiet neighborhoodLots of parkingPlenty of outdoor spaceConsWhile not the host's fault, the sewer pump malfunctioned at the very beginning of our stay, the morning after we arrived. We couldn’t use the water for over 4.5 hours, which put a huge strain on our preparations for the day. The host called a repairman quickly, and he resolved the issue in a few hours. The kitchen had unusable items (i.e., a rusty can opener that couldn’t open, pots with rust in the bottom, cutting boards with stains)Everyone had a blast playing on the pool table and the ping pong table; however, the pieces are definitely worn (i.e., balls falling through holes on the pool table, paddles peeling for ping pong)We also had to exchange the propane tank before being able to use the grill, which was thankfully reimbursed but still another inconvenience for the day. Also note the house is not very accessible. It requires stairs, as the kitchen and main living room are on the second floor. Not a problem for us but could be for others.
