Good location and easy to get to. Home has been updated and was very clean and comfortable. Family friendly layout with numerous games and puzzles available. Hosts were very helpful and communicative. Would not hesitate to stay again.
We were already familiar with this special place from a few previous stays. We had 4 relaxing weeks in this home, and it more than met our needs. The setting is so peaceful, you feel like you never want to leave. We love this place! The communication with the host was great. She answered all questions in a timely manner and was easy to reach.
We found this spacious house great for our needs with 5 small kids and a golden puppy. Beautiful surroundings and easy access to local hikes with gorgeous views - plenty of activities available indoor and outdoor + cozy fireplace for evening adults only relaxation 😉
Everything about our stay truly exceeded our expectations! The house is huge and the accommodations were perfect! Great location! Quite and peaceful! We had an amazing time!

Thanks so much Wynn - so glad you had a great time!
Very nice house and property - beautiful location!!
We LOVED staying here. So beautiful - pastures to view and nearby trails and waterfalls for hiking. Lots of room in the house with two living areas, 3 full bedrooms and one pull-out couch in a separate room, so 4 single ladies were well accommodated :-) Would definitely like to return!!
We love this property! It is very spacious inside and has a beautiful view of Winfield Farm. It is a short 12 min drive to Highlands and 18 min drive to Clayton. The owners and caretakers were very kind and available whenever we needed them. We will definitely rent again, if they will have us!

Christmas in the mountains was a fun family experience
We enjoyed fireside stories and hot drinks almost every night. On inclimate days, while the winds and rain moved through the area, we had quality time with the grandchildren; and on the clear and cold days, we were able to do some snow tubing and ice skating.
The scenic drives through the mountains were like a tour through nature and the destination towns were fun and festively decorated for the season.

So glad you enjoyed having a comfortable base for your family holiday - we love having folks enjoy the holidays at our mountain retreat.
Because this house has everything you’ll need in the kitchens, bathrooms, and everywhere else. Very well equipped and we wanted for nothing. The house is on a large lot, with beautiful flowers, trees, and large grassy expenses. At an altitude of 3850 feet the climate was wonderful even in July. We hope to rent this home again.

Thanks Ron - so glad your family enjoyed their holiday!
Wonderful place to spend two months out of the summer heat. Home is very comfortable with a large deck for outside activities. Large yard for our hound dog to claim as her own. Walking trails are easy and very scenic. The kitchen is very well equipped and easy for the chef. Internet is adequate for streaming favorite shows. Short drive of 20 minutes to Clayton,, Ga and 15 minutes to Highalnds. Hope to return as this is the best of the mountains.

So glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. Would love to have you return.
We loved our stay! I booked this home for a large group of extended family and friends (at one point there were 9 adults and 2 children, plus our dog) and it comfortably fit everyone, with plenty of room to hang out and not feel crowded. There was even enough seating in the living room for the whole party to be together but spread out. Both sets of grandparents commented that the mattresses were comfortable which is a feat in itself. I gave 4 stars for cleanliness only because I’m sensitive to dust. It’s largely carpeted with lots of upholstery and for someone sensitive to dust that may be an irritant. The home is partially updated but even the outdated portions are clean and quaint. We found it lovely! The property is pretty with room for the kids and dog to play and roam. Its location was convenient, with just a 15 minute drive to downtown Highlands and a fun aerial park down the road. It was a great find and we’d happily book again when in the area!

This home was even more impressive than advertised. We all agreed that the photos cannot do it justice! The setting is beautiful, so quiet, and with views of the mountains and nearby pastures, as promised. We stayed Christmas week when the temperatures dipped to below 0, but the house was warm, cozy, and spacious for the 6 of us (4 adults, 2 children, and a dog). The only minor shortcoming is that the house could use some detail dusting (e.g., closet louvers, baseboards) and would likely only be an issue if one is highly allergic; more importantly, the kitchen and bathrooms were immaculate. We brought everything we thought we would need with us, but still, the kitchen was very well stocked with everything - a wine opener, garlic press, good pot, pans, dishes, etc. We inadvertently left behind a couple of items and these were sent back to us quickly, for which we were immensely grateful. A perfect stay! I highly recommend this property.

Amazing View and Family Friendly Home
We simply had a perfect week for our time at this Scaly Mountain home. The property for this home is simply breathtaking. In almost every direction, you see mountains. It sits next to a gorgeous farm field with a pond. It is a great place to rest and relax!!! The house is about 15-20 minutes from Highlands. It is so close to several waterfalls and breathtaking overlooks of the mountains. We had four adults and four kids (under the age of 8) there. Plenty of space, so we did not feel cramped at all!!! I also did not feel like I had to be on edge thinking my kids would destroy everything. This is a very comfortable home. The kitchen had everything we needed to fix meals. The house had wi-fi which was needed since we did not have cell service. If you have kids, there is a tubing/gem mining/trout fishing pond in the summer and ice skating rink and tubing hill in the winter, that is five minutes away. Our kids had a blast!!! To be honest, one of our kids was crying because he did not to leave! The owner's did a FABULOUS job communicating with me regarding our stay!!!! We would like to go back again in the fall to see the leaf color change and then again in the winter to see all views.

Magical Christmas Holiday with Family and Friends
My husband and I had a truly special stay at this lovely home in the mountains of North Carolina. We visited the Highlands area to reunite with family for the Christmas Holidays and introduce our 3-month old daughter, so it was important for us to find just the right place to stay for this trip. We were so lucky to have found this comfortable mountain retreat. Throughout our stay, we were able to welcome friends from Kentucky, family from New Jersey and Texas, and a good number of relatives from the NC area as well. This home was the best possible fit for all of our entertaining needs for the holiday season! There was plenty of space for everyone to spend time around the fire, do some holiday baking in the kitchen, share a family meal together in the dining room, and have movie nights/game nights in the entertainment area downstairs. My husband is quite the chef, and we were so pleased to find the kitchen so well-stocked with a range of gourmet equipment and gadgets. He was in culinary heaven! We even made use of the grill on the deck, and really enjoyed an afternoon barbecue in the cool mountain air with a stunning view. We were excited to show our friends some of the highlights of the surrounding area, and the house was the perfect jumping-off point for visiting some wonderful restaurants, participating in a wine-tasting event, doing some last-minute holiday shopping, and visiting some of the waterfalls nearby. The bedrooms were spacious and there was plenty of room in the master BR to set up a crib for our newborn daughter. We built a lot of memories with family and friends during our holiday, and staying in this beautiful home made it all possible.

Dear Rita and family - we are so pleased that your trip was all you wished and delighted that our house could be a home away from home in the beautiful Highlands area!
My family and I had an amazing time staying here as we prepared for a wedding in the Highland's area. Lots of room for kids to play. It feels like a home away from home. The owners and property managers are extremely responsive, accommodating and overall great people. I can't wait to come back here for another family, mountain getaway.

It is wonderful to hear about your great visit at the house - please come again and thanks for generous words!
This home was perfect for our two families - seven in total. The location is picturesque and only 15 minutes from Highlands. We enjoyed many nearby hikes and waterfalls. Our hosts and the property managers were gracious, friendly, and helpful. We felt more like we were staying at a friend’s place.
We really enjoyed staying at the home, even though it was experiencing some unfortunate water damage in the basement. We were not affected much by that condition and were made aware in advance, and the owners were very accommodating. Its a great location, wonderful views, and very quiet.

Very large home In beautiful North Carolina mountains was great for my family and my sister's family to meet for vacation. My only issue was that the place was very dusty and needed a real good deep clean.

Lovely, spacious house!
The property was nice-spacious, well appointed, with plenty of room for our three families. It had several spaces for everyone to relax and enjoy each other's company. The kitchen was huge and well stocked with equipment and staples. My only mild complaint was that it was slightly dusty, not as though someone didn't dust just that with the type of house it is I wouldn't recommend it to someone with allergies. We also killed about a dozen hornets inside, but the house is in the woods after all. Would definitely stay here again!

So glad your family had an enjoyable vacation and that everyone was able to be together. Very unfortunate about the hornets - we have a regular pest control service but it seems something went awry! If you ever have a problem, please don't hesitate to contact our rental managers so the situation can be resolved promptly. Our prime goal is to see that our guests have a comfortable and pleasant stay at our mountain retreat - we would love to have you visit again.
All the best - Mickey and Hal
