Kemp & Olive Cottage: Tiny Cottage for Two Guests and Pups!

Summary:
Vacation in simpler times with your pups.

The sound of the screen door closing behind you, the smell of the sea in the air and the vintage feel of old school Nags Head - if you've ever said, "remember when," then this 1950's cottage is for you! Renovated yet nostalgic and full of classic Nags Head charm, this is the well-appointed beach cottage you’ve been looking for.

A dog-friendly cottage with a studio layout, Kemp & Olive features a well-equipped kitchen, a flat screen TV, WiFi, cable, a shared washer & dryer, and a mini-split heating & air conditioning system for optimal temperature control. The outdoor area offers an outdoor shower, charcoal grill, an outdoor hose, and a backyard firepit – B.Y.O firewood and smores!! For your convenience, the cottage has a cart for hauling your beach gear to and from the sand.

Linens and cleaning are included in the rate. Linens are provided by an independent vendor (bed linens, bath towels, washcloths, sheets). Bed will be made when you arrive!

Our awesome caretaker, Aaron, lives nearby and is as committed to your experience as we are.

Located on the beach road, the property is just a short walk away from a beautiful beach access over a natural dune on Grouse Street (see aerial photos above). One of two cottages onsite, Kemp and Olive is one of just a handful of cottage courts still in existence in Nags Head.

In addition to many local retail shops, fine and casual dining establishments and grocery stores, the cottage is also close to many great local attractions including the beautifully renovated Jennette's Pier (less than one mile away), the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo, Jockey's Ridge, Tanger Outlet shopping, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, and off-roading and fishing at Oregon Inlet.

There is a two-dog maximum, we do not allow cats, and we do not charge a pet fee. There is no smoking allowed in the cottage. The cottage is not handicap accessible. We have a 30-day cancellation policy - refunds will only be issued if cancellation is submitted in writing to the property manager outside of 30 days from check-in date.

Cottage was great for beach access and was comfortable and well stocked. We loved it had an outside hose to be able to rinse our dog after time at the beach. Definitely would return!

Nice, comfortable and clean. This was our third stay at the cottage and we'll keep coming back. The property is very close to the fairgrounds where we take our dogs to play fetch and Frisbee. Amy is very attentive and extremity helpful. Bring a sharp knife or two as you'll need them if you do most of your cooking in the cottage.

This is a very clean and cozy cottage for 2. We especially appreciated the little porch with chairs, perfect for coffee in the morning and beverages in the evening. Quiet and peaceful. The best thing is the shower. Excellent water pressure, spacious, soothing, and the hot water goes on forever. Shower gets a 10 out of 10. Great communication from the host!

The property was perfect for my wife and I to have a nice short weekend trip to OBX. The property being located walking distance to the beach was perfect. We did not bring our pup this time, but would definitely come back again with her to enjoy it!

Great small cottage for a week trip with a couple small dogs. The beach is directly across the street. You can walk to a couple restaurants and located many other drivable options. This was our 3rd time staying at the property and couldn't recommend it more.

This was exactly as pictured and described. A tiny, adorable, clean, safe little house. Bed was comfy with a few different pillow options. The kitchen had the necessary items to make meals. Great coffee machine! We made some amazing steaks on the outdoor, park style grill. There is a small yard to take your dog to potty. The TV swivels to be able to watch comfortablely from the couch or the bed. The beach access is literally right across the street and the beach is dog friendly. My only recommendation (that wasn't listed by the owner) would be to bring a kitchen towel and cloth if you spend a lot of time in the kitchen and to bring something to step on (a mat or extra towel) for when you get out of the shower. WThis place was perfect for our needs!

The cottage felt big enough for an efficiency and had all we needed. It was charming and clean. The location was so convenient to beach. Just across the street. Also close to a lot of great restaurants and shops. Would be great if a little gate on porch so dog could sit out there with us. Liked the rockers on the porch. My only complaint was that they were doing construction in cottage next door which was sometimes noisy and less private. It would have been nice to be informed.

The bungalow is nicely appointed. It is clean and offered us what we needed. The fact it sits right on Route 12, please note if you’re a light sleeper the traffic may be a nuisance. Take earplugs. It is nicely located for so many places to eat, state parks, lighthouses, and more.

A Sweet Little Cottage

We absolutely loved this cottage! It was exactly as pictured and perfect for our stay. The shower was great and the bed was comfortable. The best part, it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach!Communication with the host was also top notch. Cleaniness was great as well.

Sunrise stay!

We watched sunrise every morning at the beach and sunset every evening at the sound…great location. The cottage is just as described…charming and the team were excellent communicators.
