We had a perfect stay at the cottage. It is located in a really beautiful part of the Peak District with lots of things to do in the vicinity. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed. We would recommend to any one as we hope to return some other time.

Quiet and comfortable, ideal for extended families and anyone wanting quiet countryside.
Six adults and one infant, a surprise birthday celebration and Ford Wesley Cottage was ideal. We had plenty of room, a log burner to keep us warm and some beautiful and exceptionally quiet countryside to explore. Louise and Adrian are excellent and helpful hosts and we all enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your lovely review. So glad you enjoyed the extra ‘Hive’ cabin, outdoor space. Hope to see you again. Louise & Adrian
We’ve recently returned from a short stay at the cottage. We arrived and departed in deep snow but Louise was amazing, communicating with us frequently on access to and from the property.
The cottage itself was lovely, really cosy with everything you’d need and more. Also loved having the Shetland ponies outside! The location, also stunning, especially in the snow. We hope to return again.

Thank you for your lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your stay in the snow!
The reason for the ratings on this property is due to the inaccurate listing on VRBO. The accommodation is described as being a 5382 sq ft farmhouse and was actually less than half this. Our booking was based on the information provided and we were therefore sadly disappointed. I hope this error in the listing is rectified by the hosts who were friendly and responsive and might be unaware of the issue. We did not bring it to their attention as clearly there was nothing they would have been able to do and we had no alternative accommodation. Living in the US we stay at VRBO-listed properties twice a year but also use the site when we travel to see relatives in the UK. If the size of the property is not a major requirement then this cottage would be a good choice for a vacation in a beautiful location.

We’re very sorry that our advert was incorrect in meterage, this was clearly a typo and as we don’t use this system in the UK, it was an oversight. We feel the rest of the description is very accurate and the photos clearly show the space as a three bedroom eighteenth century stone barn and not a huge warehouse style building as suggested.
This cottage was better than the description. Really clean and sanitised by the owner with an anti viral long term spray that made us feel reassured during our stay. There was a big supply of sanitisers and cleaners in the kitchen and a bottle of hand sanitiser for our use.
The facilities were lovely, pretty bedrooms, each with their own bathroom which made social distancing very easy. There were Molton Brown toiletries in the bathrooms for an added touch of luxury. The lounge was spacious with plenty of seating and large coffee table and there was a big table in the kitchen which would seat 7, but with extra folding chairs if required. We catered for ourselves all week and the kitchen utensils etc were sufficient for a big Sunday roast with crumble for pudding and a birthday celebration mid-week. A mixing bowl would have been useful, but I am sure that if we had asked the owner, she would have provided it immediately!
Really friendly owners who live on site, but were not at all intrusive. We were able to hire a hot tub, which added to the enjoyment. The barbecue was provided, with more than enough charcoal. The log burner had logs for a couple of evenings, but more logs were available. Even the matches and newspapers were provided.
We took our Newfoundland dog who was also made very welcome and was able to run freely in the enclosed garden. There are a lot of sheep in the fields nearby which meant keeping her on a lead, but we were able to find plenty of sheep free walks as well. Very quiet country lanes to walk around with very few cars.
A wonderfully peaceful week full of walks, reading, board games and good food. Just what we wanted.

We had a lovely 5 day break with fabulous walks nearby and great pubs.
The house was very comfortable, clean and met all our needs. It was peaceful and quiet with good sitting out areas in the garden. The owners were really helpful and knowledgeable on walks in the area, good pubs to visit and day out trips to houses and gardens.

We’re so sorry you didn’t have a good nights sleep. We pride ourselves in comfortable beds and mattresses in our cottage. So on closer inspection, we have found a slat that has been broken inside the divan base, which is now fixed. We have new comfy mattresses, toppers and cotton linen in all of our bedrooms to make sure our guests have a great nights sleep, as that’s what important to us when we go away. But unless people tell us, we don’t know to fix or replace things. Louise & Adrian
We had a lovely stay at Ford Wetley Cottage. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Louise and Adrian were great hosts. Thanks again to them for all their hospitality including the kind welcome pack. It's a great location for exploring the Peak District. We had good weather and did walks along Rudyard Lake and Dovedale, amongst others. During our stay my 88 year old mum came for a one night visit. The downstairs bedroom with ensuite was perfect for her. She made good use of the garden and driveway for her walks/exercise. Our 3 year old daughter loved playing with toys and puzzles from the big basket in the living room. Would highly recommend this cottage. We hope to back soon. Mark, Pilar, Shirely and Bella

An amazing cottage, perfect for a country getaway. Louise was so helpful, would recommend to anyone.
Rented the cottage with my fiancé and our dog. The cottage was amazing. So good for anyone wanting a break in the countryside. The log fire and welcome basket were great. Louise was really helpful and on hand to answer any questions. Would recommend hiring the hot tub, such an easy process and just added to the stay further. Cottage was spotless, can’t wait to come back and stay again!
