About this property
Cabin overlooks Moab and appeals to folks wanting to experience peace & quiet.
Welcome to our Moab cabin. Please read caution at the end of this description.
With state and local government guidelines in place, the cabin is officially open. The guidelines consist of space between guest visits. Per COVID19 best practices, the following will occur:
Due to Covid-19 county health guidelines, we now require 24 hours between guests. No same-day arrivals or departures.
This means that when booking a date be careful to arrive a day AFTER previous guests and to depart a day BEFORE other guests arrive. This rule is strictly enforced and there are no exceptions.
1) Our cleaning staff will not be able to enter the cabin for 12 hours from the departure of guests. This means departure times will apply earlier than previous years allowing a quicker schedule for cleaning to take place. Departure time is now 9:00 AM.
2) The next guests will not be able to arrive until 24 hours from the previous guests' departure.
Example Timeline - Guest checks out on Sunday at 9:00 AM, room/rental is left alone for the rest of the day. On Monday morning at 9:00 cleaning services are provided. On Monday afternoon the room/rental is available for new guests to check-in.
3) Each guest's driver's license or official ID will be photographed and kept on file with us per the government guidelines.
NOTE to interested guests/visitors. The calendars within VRBO will show dates available upon the departure of the previous guest but we are honoring the guidelines so you should calculate into your planning the 24-hour in-between period. Please carefully consider the dates that are open in the calendars as being different than when you can actually reserve. We will do our best to block out or otherwise demonstrate that 48 hour period to avoid confusion but your co-operation is much appreciated.
CAUTION: During the months of March and early April as well as October/
November, the weather at the cabin can be fickle and it is possible to receive snow. We strongly recommend that if planning on coming during these times you have a four-wheel-drive or high clearance vehicle.
Caution # 2 Because the cabin is set away on private land, our cleaning service requires one day between bookings. Same day departures of previous guests and the arrival of new guests are too difficult to schedule so when looking at the calendar please recognize the dates available and pick a date one day following the previous booking. There are no exceptions to this scheduling.
We love the great outdoors and adventure. By fact that you are here, we know you do as well. We tried camping with tents and sleeping bags when we were younger, and while, we respect those who enjoy camping we discovered that the creature comforts or lack thereof made the difference in our partnership with Nature. At our last family camp out and after burning a hole in our new eight-man tent and burning my hand with our new gas lantern scrambling inside to escape a Summer rain I looked at my wife and asked if she was having fun. Reviewing the muddy mess of our camp kitchen and inevitable cleanup she thought a moment and said “No…are you?”
That was in the early 1990s and we subsequently set a plan to interact with Nature on more comfortable terms. Creature comforts and isolated from the hubbub of crowds, our cabin offers an escape from the city and the stress of everyday life. Unique to the arid geology of Moab the cabin has: Three bedrooms. Comfortable soft down comforters,
• Two full bathrooms. Linens included.
• Hot showers, running water after a day of adventure
• Modern kitchen with all the kitchen gadgets
• BBQ
• Fire pit for roasting smores (subject to fire restrictions by the forest service)
• Fifty-two-inch flat screen with a family-oriented inventory of movies
• Good cell phone service
• Wrap around deck with Spectacular views
• Low light pollution. Night skies within the darkest triangle in the continental US
• Hiking/biking trails on property and nearby
• Rustic Charm
• Isolated from crowds, a half-mile private lane into the cabin.
• Warm days, cool nights
• Parking for large vehicles and trailers. (A meadow)
Located off the Sand flats road on the Wilson Mesa at 7300 feet elevation the cabin is a perfect base camp for visiting the area’s attractions. Near the trailheads of Porcupine trail, Kokopeli trail, slick rock, (world-famous as the best mountain biking and hiking spot in the USA), and Finns N Things. The cabin is close to Moab’s Famous off-roading and mountain biking locations, which include Arches national park, Canyonlands, Warner Lake, LaSal mountain range, and Castle Valley. Available for short (3 days 3 nights) or long (1-2 week) vacation stays. 1700 sq. feet of modern convenience but still a cabin. Restriction Notice. All off-road vehicles including motorcycles need to be trailered into property and trailer-ed out of the property. No off-road use within the parameters of the half-mile lane into the cabin.
Breathtaking views of the LaSal Mountains from one deck, the Moab rim from another, and Arches national park from yet a third.13 miles from Moab and the Colorado River. No light or sound pollution; you will experience peace and quiet. Starting at sunup and lasting all day, hummingbirds vie for nectar from feeders on the porch. Sometimes so many they perch on your shoulder waiting their turn. Please watch the video above and check photos from cabin adventures. Read some of the testimonials/references from previous guests. Click on our blog link below to view more photos and excerpts from other guests. Call or email today to check availability as the cabin generally reserves 4-6 weeks in advance. We welcome you to the area and Susie and I are genuinely pleased that you are considering the cabin for your getaway. We promise you won’t be disappointed, on the contrary, you will have a vacation to remember for life.

About the host
Hosted by John Lundberg
I am a dirt biker, my wife is a hiker. We both love the outdoors but require the comfort of a good bed, hot shower, full kitchen, and clean restroom to enjoy it. I have ridden my dirt bike all over the rocky mountains and in particular the Southwest US. Moab is by far my favorite spot. The diversity of the trails is unparalleled. From above the tree line, inside Aspen forests, pines and then the red rock desert of the valley is spectacular. World famous trails are too many to list but they abound in the Moab area. My wife hikes as many miles as I ride just not as fast. Her favorite trail in the world is slick rock. We enjoy having the grandkids visit, explore and seek adventure during the day then watch a family movie at night with hot cocoa. Restriction Notice. All off-road vehicles including motorcycles need to be trailered into the property and trailered out of the property. No off-road use within the parameters of the half-mile lane into the cabin.
Why they chose this property
I spent years traveling to Moab pulling a trailer full of dirt bikes, stayed in a motel after motel and finally realized I liked the area so much I bought the cabin in order to base camp out of it for all our activities. Restriction Notice. All off-road vehicles including motorcycles need to be trailered into the property and trailered out of the property. No off-road use within the parameters of the half-mile lane into the cabin.
What makes this property unique
The cabin is near the trail heads of Porcupine, Kokopelli, the whole enchilada, Finns n things among others. We can ride or hike from nearby the front door to some of the most beautiful vistas in the world. The cabin is very private, sitting at the end of a 1/2 mile private lane. We never tire of watching the sunset from the Castle Valley Overlook. Restriction Notice. All off-road vehicles including motorcycles need to be trailered into the property and trailered out of the property. No off-road use within the parameters of the half-mile lane into the cabin.
