Our heart warming family reunion was a very successful event in this very accommodating and special home. The abundance of nature, peaceful setting, and availability of outdoor activities nearby, makes this Ski Hive special even in the summer. The Braciskas are great hosts.
My 5 boys and I had a great time skiing and relaxing in the cabin. The host was easy to communicate with when our plans changed prior to the trip and we added another night.
We had a family reunion with 14 people (adults in their 40s and 70s a 94 year old). We loved being able to spend time with each other but had a mixed experience with this property and wouldn't return. Pros: Big, open living room, dining room, and kitchen to hang out. Clean. Basement stayed cool. Plenty of space for everyone to sleep. In the winter, location next to ski lift can't be beat. Lake was a short drive. Allowed us to bring all our dogs. Wheelchair accessible bedroom/bathroom on main floor (as long as you can lift the person up the short flight of stairs to the front door).Cons: Couches were sagging to the point of being challenging to get up from. Cooking supplies (pots/pans, utensils) were old and not great quality. The refrigerator kept overheating and our ice cream melted. Only one ceiling fan worked. Communication around payment and check in were confusing (e.g. didn't tell me until a few days before check in that I would need to pay on a different site despite the VRBO website saying my CC would be charged; the amount they said I owed differed from what VRBO said). Offered late check out at time of booking, which I accepted, but wasn't told until a few days before that this wasn't happening.Neutral: All rooms had window AC units, but it was still blazing hot and uncomfortable in the main living room during the heat wave. During most of the year, it's probably not an issue. There's only parking for 4 cars, which took some coordinating for our large group.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
The location and the layout of the house are great for a large group. However, the couches in both living rooms should be replaced as they are so worn out and uncomfortable. Also deep cleaning would be beneficial. Biggest disappointment was although the lake is correctly listed as a 3 mIn walk, there is no public access. We had to drive 15 minutes to a beach for kids to swim. Also much of the kitchenware (and there is a lot) was not working (griddle with no plug) or very dated (most pans were teflon). Lastly, the in window AC units were struggling to maintain comfortable Temperature in such a large house. Not helped by an inoperable ceiling fan. At first or our group wanted to rent the house for a week during ski season as it is directly on slopes - but we changed our minds by that night. Not a terrible house at all - just needs some TLC
