Beach and Seashore Hiking Retreat

Inverness, CA. Fantastic retreat for family and friends. Two minute walk to Chicken Ranch Beach on Tomales Bay - a terrific local beach for families. Spend hours on the beach and then walk back to the house to enjoy panoramic views of the Bay, Black Mountain and countryside, bird-watching and quiet, starry nights.

Just minutes drive away from numerous ocean and bay beaches and hikes in the Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay State Park. Kayak rentals only 200 yards down the street.

3 BR, 2+ BA (3 showers, 1 tub); panoramic bay views from living areas and bedrooms; spacious deck with amazing view, wifi, cable tv, dishwasher, washer and dryer.

This is a perfect place for 3 couples or two small families.

Main house has 2 BR, 1BA and kitchen; attached cottage has 1BR, 1BA. Both house and cottage have wood-burning stoves - firewood provided. Two-car garage with ping-pong table for spirited competitions. Mud room with shower for easy clean-up from day's activities.

Sunny, large kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils, spices and staples. (When we aren't renting the house, we use it for family gatherings and feasts.) Weber BBQs.

One mile from Inverness general store, bakery and shops, five miles from Point Reyes Station grocery stores, bakery and restaurants.

Minimum stay: During Peak Season (May 24-Nov 30) we generally require 3 night stay if staying Friday or Saturday night or on Major Holiday (New Years, MLK, Presidents, Memorial, Independence, Labor, Thanksgiving, Christmas, ).

We loved the place and wished we could stay longer. It had a very comfortable at home feeling. The kitchen was well stocked. Only one small complaint, which is a common problem in many rentals, not enough good larger sized frying/sauté pans. But we managed with what was there, and I highly recommend this place for groups of 4 to 6 adults. And Locke, the owner was friendly, available and helpful.

My family and I love staying at this beautiful property. It's our favorite "getaway" spot that never disappoints, regardless of the weather or the time of year. This wonderful home is a true favorite for me and my family (including our dog!) As soon as we approach it, we all get excited. This is our second birthday visit to this lovely Inverness property. It worked perfectly for us - spacious and warm, with a wonderful view of Tomales Bay. In particular, I loved having a separate bedroom & bath across the deck. And the view was the best from this bed! Speaking of views, it would be great if the landscaping would be trimmed around the deck so people sitting on the deck (& in the house) could see the view of the bay.

My family loves to visit West Marin and stay at this lovely home in Inverness. It's location is a perfect starting point for countless hiking and beach adventures. For 40 years our family has spent New Year's Eve on North Beach. When we got the opportunity to buy a vacation home in Inverness we knew it was perfect! We love how close this is to the East Bay and to San Francisco. A complete retreat away from the hustle and bustle, but we can still get back to it if we need to. This house has been a great family retreat, for hiking, going to the beach or just being together for meals, reading books, watching movies and playing games. We're happy to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

Whether it's raining out or sunny, or cold and foggy, waking up in Inverness you feel relaxed after a quiet night's sleep and enveloped in the natural beauty. The large spacious deck is like an extra enlarged living room. Whether basking in some sun, ducking under the umbrella, or bundled up on a cold foggy day - drinking coffee, eating a meal, reading a book, watching the birds or having a glass of something to drink together or alone - this deck is filled with great moments and a great view!

What makes this property unique

We love walking up to the house, opening the front door and.....walking onto the deck! It always surprises people to open the front door and to be on the deck and seeing the view of beautiful Tomales Bay. You can walk to Chicken Ranch beach in 2 minutes, 10 mins drive to Shell Beach and it's a short drive to any number of ocean beaches or hiking trails. A 10 minute drive to Pt. Reyes station.
