It was the perfect Maine getaway. The cottage is adorable and the location right on the beach couldn't be better. We watched the sunset every night from the deck.
One can enjoy the ocean view from the living and dining rooms with 3 full sliding doors out to two nice decks that look out to the water. You can walk right down to a rocky, pebbly beach out to Potts Point. The property is very private, peaceful and lovely! It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked even with nice extras like tea bags, coffee, sugar, toilet paper, cooking oil and vinegar, etc. It was fun to watch the working boats and sailboats go by while sitting on the deck with coffee or cocktail. Great place to read and I also did some drawing and painting. The couch, and bed were very comforting. It is located near many nice Harpswell Heritage Trust preserves with pretty walking trails.
We loved our stay in the Beach Pea. For a small cottage it never felt cramped. There is a separate dinning area along with a nice sized living room. Beds and sitting furniture are tasteful and comfortable. Two lovely decks; one with a dinning set and the other for sitting and enjoying the view. The owners are upfront about the small bathroom. It is small! But, for us it was not an issue. The cottage was clean and the communication with the realtor was great. We would return!
This little cottage was just perfect for us. When I saw the photos on VRBO, it was the location on the water and the view that caused me to book. The reality is even betters. It’s hard to find a more beautiful spot in a more tranquil setting. Picture Casco Bay in all directions from your deck, with boats moored in the distance and fishing trollers and lobster boats slowly passing by. Sunsets, seagulls, sea air, and moonlight over water at night. It is pristine, unspoiled, and breathtaking. The cottage is small, but perfectly kept and stocked with new appliances and accoutremont. Everything you need. The bathroom is tiny, but they warn you. If you’re looking for luxury, this might not be your place. Rather, it is the perfect family retreat — cozy and charming and captivating. We could not have been happier. I have teenagers and even they were happy. We played so many games in the dining room at night, corn hole on the grass during the day, The beach is more pebbly than sandy, but that’s Maine, unless you want to drive an hour to Popham, which you should, since it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. This region - Harpswell, Bailey Island, Orr’s -,is truly a gem, unspoiled and slower paced. There’s not a lot around,, though it’s easy to take a day trip to Freeport or Portland or other places. If you enjoy the tranquility of reading a book and gazing out at the ocean and reconnecting with your family, I couldn’t think of a better place. We are very grateful.
