The "Sandbox" is a lovely 3 bedroom cottage only 187 steps away from beautiful Popham Beach which offers tidal pools, islands, lighthouses, over three miles of sandy beach, and two old stone forts for you to explore.

The cottage accommodates four guests with sleeping arrangements consisting of two traditional bedrooms (a queen bed in one and two twins in the other) as a bonus there is a full sized bed located in our stunning enclosed sleep porch.

The "Sandbox" is nestled in the historic quaint community of Popham Village. You will enjoy strolling, fishing, swimming, hiking and collecting sea shells along the beach. If hungry you can walk only 5 minutes down to Spinney's restaurant to enjoy an oceanside breakfast, lunch, dinner OR ice cream. (Spinney's has a new owner this year, menu TBD)

The cottage has internet, games, puzzles, a propane griddle, a DVD library and a gas fireplace for those foggy coastal nights when you just want to stay in and relax. The large sunroom is not only a coveted sleeping and napping area, but, a great spot to relax, play games or simply listen to the ocean.

This was a very comfortable cottage. My son and his family stayed in it and they loved it. It has a wonderful yard for the kids to play in while the parents were busy and it was close to the beach. They enjoyed the games and the books.

The Sandbox is a gem of a property. Very clean, comfortable and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of room for kids and dogs, inside and out. We have been guests at The Sandbox for the last few years. Our grandkids call it 'Our Tradition'. Cozy cottage, great yard and truly a short walk to the beach. Lovely neighborhood where we ride bikes and access to wharf, Spinney's and the fort are added bonuses.

A quintessential cottage in one of my favorite places!

What a wonderful property! Beautifully maintained, well equipped, easy walk to beach but also provided lots of privacy. Hosts were terrific to work with! Can not wait to go back!

Lovely Maine coastal cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this nice cottage just steps away from miles of beaches. Lots of fun exploring this beautiful rugged (and remote) area. This had all the features we needed and great communication with the owners. We would stay again!

very chill and close to the beach!

We loved our days at Popham Beach. The house was the perfect size for our family, our dog was happy, and the beach access was phenomenal. The only dissapointment was that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor dining area or the deck because it was super buggy -- but that's how it goes some times! We loved the rental and hope to be back.

We had a wonderful time at this cottage. The location could not have been better. The large screened-in porch was a fantastic place to relax and read. We had wonderful long walks on beautiful Popham beach daily. What a perfect place to get away from it all.

Great stay!

This house was perfect for families! It was so convenient to have the property stocked with everything from kitchen essentials, games, linens, and outside/beach gear. Even though we had planned ahead an brought a lot of things we thought we would need (for beach/outside) it was nice to have the back up of more to pick from!

Wonderful time at Popham Beach

We enjoyed every minute of our stay! Lynn's sweet cottage is charming and inviting. There is plenty of space and comfortable corner that allowed us to enjoy quiet time, meals outdoors, breakfast on the porch, and lots of time to relax. The location made it easy to spend the day at our favorite beach. Lynn was gracious and helpful -- she went above and beyond to make our stay a true vacation.

Sandbox stay

Had a lovely time. The Sandbox is homey and welcoming and comfortable. Some time was spent with family and some time as a solo retreat. The yard space is beautiful and particularly nice for pets and privacy.

I love the smell of the salt air, the endless adventures to the small seaside villages and the abundance of festivals, craft fairs and outdoor activities.

Why they chose this property

Popham Beach is such a magical place on the Midcoast of Maine. The beach has soft clean sand with PLENTY of room to spread out your blanket and have a quiet day relaxing and watching the abundant wildlife. The history of Popham is fascinating from colonial settlements to ship building. And, the proximity to Freeport, Portland, Boothbay makes day tripping a breeze!

What makes this property unique

This cottage is nestled on a one acre lot only 1-2 minute walk to the beach. It is wonderful to have the amenity of strolling, swimming and fishing however, getting away at the end of the day and sitting on the porch listening to surf at a private cottage is the best of both worlds.
