We enjoyed our stay at this casita. The location, just a block from Old Mesilla was amazing. The only drawback was the noise from the biker bar down the street. Thank goodness for the provided earplugs, so that we could sleep on Fri and Sat. nights. The rest of the week was quiet and wonderful.
Nice little casita! New appliance’s comfortable beds. The bar across the street had two bands playing for the weekend. Music was not loud but lots of traffic. Location is walking distance to the plaza. We had a great time!
The home was very welcoming. I have stayed at other places that consider themselves a super host. Those people can take a lesson from Casey! From all the little touches…coffee, creamer, bath robes, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, water, popcorn and a bottle of wine…seriously!!! This is the second time we have stayed in one of their homes and we plan to do it again. After a long day of work it’s such a treat to come back and really rest.
Inside was very clean and very nice. New appliances and tv. Shower was great. Rooms and beds comfy. Location near all kinds of great places. The one and only downside is that the place is directly across the street from a loud bar that doesn’t shut down until midnight. If the home was sound proof that wouldn’t be bad but it’s hard to fall asleep until after the bar shuts down and the patrons go home.
They recently finished remodel and living areas are very comfy. Hosts are very accomodating and quick to respond to questions. Mesilla has alot to offer and casita is located close to downtown. I was concerned about the bar across the street but didn't hear a thing. We had very nice stay.Wishes - bigger bathroom, a little area for dog to run around and a map of lot would be nice.

Liked: Cleanliness, communication
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
The listing stated the property was pet friendly, but only if your dog stays indoors the entire time, there is no fenced area, which was disappointing. It also failed to disclose that you cannot flush toilet paper, which is unacceptable. The biggest issue, however, was the noise. The rental is directly across from a bar that has a live band on Friday and Saturday nights. We could hear every song as if we were inside the bar. While the listing mentions it’s across from Palacios Bar, it does not warn that the bar hosts loud weekend performances, that people park right outside the window, or that the crowd can be extremely noisy. It’s also a motorcycle bar, and the constant revving engines made the situation even worse.Because of all these undisclosed issues, we did not stay at the rental at all. We left immediately and had to pay for a hotel instead, leaving us out the cost of both the rental and the hotel. Vrbo ultimately sided with the property owner and showed no concern for how misleading the listing was or how the situation affected us.Overall, I would not recommend this rental unless your intention is to be at the bar partying until closing time.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry Hacienda de Napoleon did not meet your expectations. Being from El Paso, you surely know of the vibrant culture in the heart of Mesilla, which celebrates music, among other things. It is not uncommon in our artist community to hear music in the evening. Palacios is part of that tradition and, from time to time, invites bands to play on the weekend. The bar closes at midnight and the music stops before then. We welcome fur babies of all kinds but our listing cannot and does not boast of a yard. Most guests, however, disclose to us they have pets, pay the required fee, and enjoy that Mesilla is extremely walkable. Also, as you know Mesilla predates colonial times and has old infrastructure from a bygone era that is in need of modernization. Most guests understand the small inconvenience and respect that there are some tradeoffs in staying in such a historic part of New Mexico. The price we charge, which is roughly 2 to 3 times less per square foot than a chain hotel, reflects the minor inconvenience of old plumbing and fun-loving folks. Fair enough: Hacienda de Napleon is not for those who want a mediocre stay with free waffles and a place to leave their pet instead of an experience.
