1/1 cozy private Zilker cottage!Wonderful area,walk to park and Barton Springs

All our homes are fully licensed by the city of Austin. License number OL 2013 000595
Ask for details of our other properties especially the 3/2 next door to this comfortable home if you have a larger group.This adorable fully remodeled cozy cottage is on a full sized quiet residential lot with a large fenced back yard. A small elevated wood deck with table seating for four and gas BBQ grill are at the rear of the house of the back door. Inside the house you will find a full kitchen equipped with new appliances and stocked with dishware,
cutlery, pots and pans and virtually everything you may need to cook with for either a weekend stay or a month long visit. You just need to buy the groceries while we will provide an assortment of herbs, spices, coffee and teas for your pleasure. The living room has a comfy leather sectional sofa with cable HDTV and high speed internet. The large bedroom has a queen sized bed with a Serta mattress, high thread count linens and comfy pillows, ample closet space and built in drawers with a small desk area with a plug for your computer. Extra blankets and bedding are there if needed. Plum Cottage has lots of windows and feels bright and cheerful while tastefully decorated. Bamboo floors throughout. Washer & Dryer are on premises.
There is ample parking both at the curb and off the street with plenty of room should you have an RV.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Cute House in Great Location

Very clean house just as pictured! Our flight showed up early and the hosts were very accommodating and let us check in early. The location of the house is easy to get around to any area of Austin!

Everything you need in a great neighborhood

Charming neighborhood close to great restaurants. The house had everything I needed. I just stayed for one night, but the house is set up for you to stay longer. Ample kitchen amenities included. The yard is a good size as well.

Perfect Home Away from Home

My husband and I were in Austin for a few days mid-week and wanted someplace near all of our favorite spots, but not a hotel. We found Plum Cottage on VRBO and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. The owners were extremely responsive & helpful and the accommodations were wonderful - clean, spacious, just right for two. Another benefit was being able to bring our dog. Wonderful all around - we will definitely be back.

Perfect home away from home!

What a wonderful stay at a wonderful property! The hosts are so responsive, and have provided everything I wanted/needed for my long term stay. The cottage is cozy and well laid out, in a great neighborhood, and close to downtown. My dog loved the backyard, and Carole and Kerry made us both feel welcome. Will be back!! Thanks so much!

Great location for experiencing all Austin has to offer

Austin is one of our favorite cities. We lived there in the 80s & again when I worked for Dell recently. While we’ve moved away we still love spending time here. We celebrated my October Birthday at the Plum Cottage. It was quiet & cozy & perfect location for getting around to all the Austin hot spots. Thanks Carole & Kerry!

South Lamar cottage

"Cottage" is an apt descriptor for this neat little place, which is a fine example of well organized tiny house. The location really is a plus and it is amazing how quiet it was, given that it is actually very close to the busy South Lamar roadway. The photos accurately depict what is and is not there, but if you are having guests during your stay it might be important to recognize that there is no table for more than 2 people. If cooking is your thing, we felt this was the best outfitted kitchen of the many places we have previously rented. The hosts' attention to detail is very obvious.

Charming Cottage

My husband was attending a conference in downtown Austin and the Plum Cottage was a perfect location. It was 15 min to downtown convention center, walking distance to little Zilker park and a short drive to Barton Springs and the Colorado River. We enjoyed stand up paddling several days and a Shakespeare play at the outdoor theater in Barton Springs park. Our fur babies were safe in the backyard for playtime and loved the space inside for relaxing. We had a blast. We will definitely be back and highly recommended the Plum Cottage and any of the other properties Kerry & Carole make available. They are amazing at maintaining this property and we have no doubt they do the same for the other rentals they manage. Can’t say enough about what excellent service and property was provided to us. Very clean, cozy and met all our needs.

Amazing

If I could give this place a 10 star rating I would! The owners, Carole and Kerry have thought of everything you would ever need! Their communication is above and beyond. We, my husband and myself, had never been to Austin before. Carole sent loads of information about what to do and where to eat. They checked in with us after our arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. The location of the house is so close to the downtown area. It only took minutes to get to major sites and activities. The house itself is very well maintained. I love that they had a binder filled with information about activities, sights and any type of restaurant you would be interested in. It also contained contact numbers if you needed them. They made themselves very available if needed. The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking gear and even condiments that you would need if you decide to cook and eat in. There is a washer and dryer and laundry soap available. We loved everything about this VRBO and would highly highly recommend it.

Great little cottage in South Austin!

My husband and I spent a week at Plum Cottage, and had a great time! The cottage was spotless on arrival, and was very well appointed. The neighborhood is very quiet, you'd hardly know you were just a couple blocks off South Lamar. My husband and I went for a couple of runs while we were there just around the neighborhood and it was a quick 5-minute drive down to Lady Bird Lake to run there, as well. Unfortunately, it rained pretty much the entire week. This isn't a problem related to the cottage, but as we were expecting to spend quite a bit more time in the great outdoors, it did get a little cramped inside for the two of us and our dog. We weren't able to spend any time in the backyard or on the back patio, which was unfortunate. Our only recommendations would be for the owners to pick up a couple extra (larger) cutting boards as there was only one and it was pretty small, and also a set of steak knives. Other than that, the kitchen was very well-stocked...had everything we needed. The coffee pot worked great and they had a variety of teas (and an electric kettle!) and regular coffee (pick up decaf if you're a decaf drinker!). Plum Cottage is ridiculously convenient to just about everything...Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Target, Central Market, Shake Shack (park in the Alamo Drafthouse garage), and all the fun of SoCo and the food trucks on South First. We'd planned on hitting Zilker Park and maybe the Barton Springs Pool (both also crazy close to the house), but I guess those attractions will have to wait until our next visit!

I spent 5 weeks at Plum cottage and found it had everything I needed. The kitchen was well stocked for home cooking. Restaurants were close by, I loved the location, neighborhood felt very safe. I had 2 dogs with me and the fenced in yard was great. The house had great flow and did not feel small. The owners were very responsive. I would recommend this place to others and definitely would stay there again.

We are Kerry and Carole Price and have been hosting out of town guests in Austin for over three years. Plum Cottage is our newest furnished rental home.
We have been married for over 28 years and have raised both of our children within a mile of this home and still live in the neighborhood. Kerry still has a day job in the packaging business and loves wooden boats. Carole manages the vacation rental properties and is a community volunteer with Hospice Austin.
We both found our way to Austin: Kerry from Minnesota and Carole from Glasgow Scotland. We met in South Austin in the mid 80's and have never left.

Why they chose this property

We bought this property several years ago and kept it as a long term rental property until converting it into a Short Term Furnished Vacation Rental opening in February of 2013. To make this conversion we have remolded starting at the wall studs and added a room to make a virtually new home.
The original home was built around 1950 and still has much of its old classic charm including the cut glass door handles and solid wood interior paneled doors and baseboards.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location. This section of Austin is one of the most sought after areas for people coming to Austin to live or play. Conveniently located near to most of Austin's major - and some off beat- attractions. Here you will find real Austinites both young and old.
