About this property

Hide Out: Authentic Log Cabin on 64-Acre Horse Farm + Private Hot Tub

For a few days, make our farm your own.

Hide Out is a small, private log cabin at the edge of the woods on Country Manor Acres, our family's 64-acre working horse farm and wedding estate in Townsend, Tennessee.

You'll have your own private cabin, covered porch and hot tub—but the cabin is only part of what you're coming here for.

At Country Manor Acres, we have a different measure of luxury.

Some of the most valuable parts of our property are the acres we've chosen not to build on.

Our accommodations are intentionally scattered across the estate because we believe open space has value. It gives our horses pasture, our guests room to wander, our children room to explore, and all of us something that's becoming increasingly difficult to find: room to breathe.

Walk the trails through woods and open fields. Wander down to the stables and visit the horses. Meet the animals at the petting farm. Bring a fishing pole to the catch-and-release pond, or take the shared guest boat out on the water with the provided oars and paddles. Explore the gardens. When the season is right, keep an eye out for wild blackberries, blueberries and mulberries growing around the property.

Private guided horseback rides are available for an additional charge by advance appointment, as are horse-drawn wagon and carriage experiences. We intentionally limit the number of rides we offer because we don't believe in overusing our horses—or our land.

Our shared estate fire pit near the Country Manor Acres office is also available to lodging guests, and the view from there is one of our favorites on the property.

And you don't have to schedule every minute.

Watch the horses. Take the boat out on the pond. Walk a trail with nowhere particular to go. Find a rocking chair. Sit around the fire. Watch the mountains change with the evening light.

Then, after dark, step outside and look up.

Away from the glow of the city, clear nights reveal a sky filled with stars—the kind of night sky many of us have almost forgotten exists.

HIDE OUT

Hide Out may be the truest expression of a traditional Smoky Mountain log cabin at Country Manor Acres.

Built in the 1990s in the tradition of the pioneer cabins found in nearby Cades Cove, Hide Out was constructed with real logs, visible chinking between them, an open sleeping loft and a stacked-stone fireplace rising through the main living space.

It's small. It's cozy. And that's part of its character.

The goal was never to create a large modern house and decorate it to look rustic. Hide Out was built to capture the scale, warmth and architectural character of an earlier Smoky Mountain cabin while providing the comforts of modern life.

We've continued that philosophy ever since.

You'll have heat and air, Wi-Fi, television, an equipped kitchen and private hot tub, along with well-maintained original features that have been serving the cabin perfectly well for years.

We don't believe something loses its value simply because something newer has been invented.

THE LAYOUT

The main level has a compact kitchen and dining area, full bathroom with tub/shower combination, and an open living area centered around the tall stacked-stone fireplace.

A twin daybed with oversized pillows serves as the living-room sofa for relaxing and watching TV, while also providing sleeping space for one child.

Above the living room is the open sleeping loft with a queen bed.

The loft is intentionally open to the room below—there is no wall or bedroom door separating the loft from the living area.

Hide Out is designed for a maximum of two adults, with room for one child on the twin daybed.

Reaching the cabin requires three steps from the ground-level parking area to the deck. An interior staircase leads to the queen sleeping loft. The full bathroom is downstairs on the main level.

Outside, Hide Out sits at the edge of the woods, where the trees give the cabin a private, tucked-away feeling without separating you from the rest of Country Manor Acres.

Settle into a rocking chair on the covered porch, relax in your private hot tub, or look out through the trees toward our lower pastures. The view opens more when the leaves fall, making winter an especially beautiful time at the cabin.

LIFE ON THE FARM

Country Manor Acres is our home as well as our family business.

This isn't a remotely managed vacation-rental development. The people you see working around the farm are the family who lives here.

You may see Nicole working with the horses, Jeff driving the wagon or maintaining the property, April mowing or tending to something around the farm, our children playing near the barn, chickens wandering where chickens please, or our dog happily following another trail ride.

Nothing has been staged for your arrival.

That's simply life here—and for the time you're with us, you're welcome to be part of it.

We love meeting our guests and helping you experience the property, but we also respect your privacy.

Think of us as nearby when you want us—and out of the way when you don't.

There is life here, but rarely a crowd.

We've intentionally kept the number of accommodations small for 64 acres. You might walk a trail without seeing another person and later meet another family fishing at the pond or enjoying the fire.

It's privacy without isolation.

A WORKING HORSE FARM & WEDDING ESTATE

Country Manor Acres is also a wedding estate, which is one reason so much care goes into preserving the landscape.

The fields, gardens and mountain views couples choose for their wedding photographs are the same surroundings our lodging guests enjoy every day. Depending on when you visit, you might even look across the farm and catch a glimpse of a wedding taking place on a distant hillside.

The wedding estate and horse farm have shaped the way we care for this land.

We could build more accommodations.

We could run more trail rides.

We've chosen not to.

We believe some things become more valuable when they aren't overused.

LESS THAN TWO MINUTES FROM TOWNSEND

Perhaps the biggest surprise is how close all of this is to town.

Country Manor Acres is less than two minutes from downtown Townsend's restaurants, shops and everyday conveniences and only minutes from the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Spend the morning exploring the Smokies. Float or kayak the Little River. Grab lunch in town. Head toward Cades Cove. Or bicycle approximately half a mile from the farm to connect with Townsend's paved bicycle trail.

Then turn back down our gravel road and feel as though you've left the busy world behind.

You don't have to go far away to get away.

A DIFFERENT MEASURE OF LUXURY

Our roads are gravel, and country life comes with nature. You may encounter insects, wildlife, leaves, pollen, dust, changing weather and the occasional muddy spot after a Tennessee rain.

We consider those part of being in the country rather than flaws in the experience.

If your idea of luxury includes 64 acres to explore, mountain views, horses in the pasture, a sky full of stars, room to wander, and a place that hasn't been polished until its character disappeared, you may find that Country Manor Acres offers something much harder to find.

Some of the most valuable parts of this property are the acres we've chosen not to build on.

Open space isn't wasted space.

It's part of the luxury.

This isn't a resort designed to resemble the Smoky Mountains.

This is life in the Smoky Mountains.

And for a few days, this is your farm too.

The cabin was very nice. We wanted a nice quiet place to stay. Jeff was a great host, check in was a breeze. We highly recommend staying at their place. Townsend is a nice little town to stay in. For a great meal, head to The Abbey in Townsend. It was only 5 mins away.

Lovely spot

We sat outside for breakfast, watch the horses get ready to take children on a trip. Day outside again in tickets with wine later. In the middle we were minutes away from GSNP and the Cases Cove area. Can't be beat. Would 100% be happy to return.

The Hideout Cabin is a charming and cozy cabin. The cabin has a sweet front porch where we sipped our morning coffee and afternoon cocktails. The hot tub was perfect after long days of hiking. The location is perfect, with Townsend attractions and Smoky Mountain access. The property is spectacular, with stables and fantastic views. Jeff is a wonderful and attentive host, making sure everything was perfect for our stay. We enjoyed the walks and visiting the horses right on the property. We used the fire pit a couple of times for a sunset fire.I highly recommend this property, it was lovely.

It was okay but not great.Bathroom door handle came off the first night we were there - my hubby fixed it. Toilet seat not on well amd couldnt be screwed on tighter. Shower was slippy with the non slip butterflies wore off. Hot tub smelled funny so we didnt use it (i have a hot tub at home and it didnt smell like a hot tub). They also failed to mention you were right by the barn that held the weddings - so many cars and alot of noise. No view of anything. Cabin needs a deep clean - the corners in the bathroom were caked with grime. Not a terrible place but if we ever visit the area again we wont be staying there

The hosts were very kind welcoming. We stayed right across from the stables and enjoyed going to see the horses every evening. We had a great time horse back riding. Being 25 minutes from Cades Cove and 5 minutes from Tuckaleechee caverns was perfect. We love Townsend and we will definitely come stay again.

Country Manor Acres is our home as well as our family business. Our family lives and works here, caring for the horses, maintaining the property, hosting weddings and welcoming lodging guests.

You may see Nicole at the stables, Jeff driving the wagon, April somewhere around the farm, our children playing near the barn or our dog following another trail ride.

We enjoy getting to know our guests and sharing the property with them, but we also understand that sometimes the greatest luxury is being left alone. We're nearby when you need us and out of the way when you don't.

Why they chose this property

Townsend gives us something increasingly rare in the Smokies: extraordinary access without the crowds.

We're less than two minutes from downtown Townsend and only minutes from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, yet once you turn down our gravel road, the restaurants, traffic and busy world seem to disappear.

We love being close enough to enjoy everything the area offers while still coming home to horses, open fields, mountain views, dark skies and 64 acres with room to breathe.

What makes this property unique

Some of the most valuable parts of Country Manor Acres are the acres we've chosen not to build on.

Hide Out may be our truest traditional Smoky Mountain log cabin: real logs with visible chinking, an open queen sleeping loft and a stacked-stone fireplace rising through the heart of the cabin. It sits privately at the edge of the woods overlooking our lower pastures, with a private hot tub just outside.

Step beyond your little cabin and 64 acres of horses, trails, pond, gardens and farm life are waiting.

There is life here, but rarely a crowd.

For a few days, this is your farm too.
