Excellent location for walking to shops and restaurants in downtown Bar Harbor as well as the village Green to catch the Island Explorer bus to Acadia. It was the perfect size for our family of 4 adults. Comfortable beds.
Cute and cozy property in the heart of Bar Harbor. VERY easy to walk to great restaurants and a local grocery. Plenty of great options close by. 3 bedrooms upstairs….all were great. Overall, the place was clean, neat, and organized. We loved our week there.
Wonderful stay! Great host and comfortable cottage with many thoughtful conveniences. With close proximity to groceries, restaurants, and free shuttles to Acadia (for humans and bicycles), we didn't use the car even once during our week long stay!
Great location and close walk to town and grocery stores. Quiet side street. Good cookware and spices. Very basic but easy check in, check out, entry system.
Carol’s house was a perfect choice for my sister, my husband, and me for our week long stay. It is a central location with the Acadia Park bus depot, a grocery, a laundry, shops, restaurants, a museum, a library, and a bookstore all within an easy 10 minute walk. The kitchen is large and easy to use, and we were all comfortable and slept well in the bedrooms. The front porch was fun for both morning coffee and evening drinks. We highly recommend a stay here.
The Daylily was a perfect location for our Bar Harbor trip! It was such a cute house that fit our family of four perfectly! Carol and her son were so accommodating, making sure the window air conditioners were in each room when it got warm. We loved the quick walk to downtown and the short drive to Acadia! They were so kind and made our stay so wonderful!
Promptly responded to our ? and introduced herself while we were there. The 59.00 insurance fee is ridiculous. The house is very old and the couches are uncomfortable. Clean and well stocked kitchen.
Daylily was the perfect house for our family of five. There was more than enough space, everything was clean and comfortable, especially the Tempur-pedic beds. From this location, you can walk practically anywhere in town within a few minutes. A lot of shopping restaurants and parks nearby made this location perfect for us. The host was very kind and was available anytime we had questions about the town or the national park. I would recommend this property to anybody for rent.
Daylily is in a PERFECT location in the center of town. It is just a few minutes walk to everything, including the free shuttle. Check in was smooth and easy with a door code; everyone in our group could come and go when they wanted. The kitchen had plates, glasses, and utensils as well as basic cooking oils and spices. The extra half bathroom came in very handy with our group of 5. I would definitely stay here again.
We love Acadia and Bar Harbor, so we were looking for a walkable location near everything for a little vacation with our toddler. This property is close to everything! Walk to shopping, walk to restaurants, and easily drive to the park from here. The host is extremely kind and helpful. For those with small children, she has thoughtful additions like small stools, baby gates, and a playpen. Recommend!
This home was a perfect place for me, my partner, and my friends to stay at during our trip to Acadia National Park. My group (27 years old) found the location extremely convenient for its proximity to downtown Bar Harbor (everything was within a 10 min walk) as well as the main hikes for the National park (within 15 min drive). Carrol left us an extremely valuable welcome packet and the house contained all the necessities needed for our stay. We even took advantage of the pot maker kit they had which was a fun activity, especially when it was raining, and allowed us to bring a tangible memory back home. The house itself was very cute and clean, and had a quaint coastal vibe to it. The beds were extremely comfortable and bathrooms/kitchen were well stocked with everything you need. The only complaint I have was that the doors didn’t really lock well within the house, but it was really no issue at all for us. The driveway is shared and slightly narrow but was still easy to get in and out of, especially since there were about 3 spaces dedicated to this property. If I have the opportunity to come back I will definitely look to stay here again!
Carol and her husband, Jim, have lived in Bar Harbor for 47 years because it is so easy to access the ocean for sailing, Acadia National Park for hiking and cross country skiing, and the community for enrichment and entertainment. In our younger years, we enjoyed backpacking trips in Colorado with our children. We bonded, as a family, during long cross country car trips to various national parks and we, minus the “kids,” continue to enjoy visiting B&Bs and camping as we have traveled around the U.S. When not traveling, Jim has spent his time renovating the 1904 cul-de-sac on which we live. Carol was a teacher in the local school for 25 years. We have provided, and continue to provide affordable housing for our community on our little side street. Now, in the “retirement years,” we enjoy meeting new people and look forward to hosting a variety of guests this season in our Huckleberry Suite.
