Unfortunately, I cannot leave a favorable review of my stay. When a property is listed on VRBO as both pet-friendly and house for a family, expectation is that it will be safe and relatively worry-free.Upon arrival, we immediately noticed several issues. The front door was not functioning properly, and there were fans running throughout the house with a noticeable musty, moldy, water-like odor. The deck was also in poor condition, with holes and splintered boards that posed a safety risk for our children.Although the listing described the home as pet-friendly, the only fenced area was around the pool—and dogs were not permitted there. This created another problem, as two neighboring dogs repeatedly entered the property unsupervised.We also observed multiple maintenance issues, including damaged roof areas, broken door handles, worn and missing moldings, and flooring hazards.The one positive aspect of the stay was that our kids enjoyed the pool, though even that had concerns, as the liner on the stairs is in need of repair.My recommendation to future renters is to ask detailed questions in advance and be aware that the photos on the site do not fully reflect the condition of the property.

Thank you for your feedback. I’d like to clarify a few points you raised for the benefit of future guests. Regarding your comments about the property being listed as pet-friendly, I encourage all guests to review VRBO’s definition of this term. Pet-friendly means that the property allows pets, but it does not necessarily imply that it includes pet-specific amenities such as a fenced yard, dog beds, or bowls. We welcome pets in the home, and many guests have enjoyed their stays with their furry companions. As for the neighboring dogs, I want to note that they are not my pets and I have no control over their behavior. If I had been notified during your stay, I would have gladly looked into the matter and attempted to resolve any issues, including identifying the dog and speaking with the owner. You also mentioned the gutter in your review. I appreciate you pointing it out. The issue appears to be that a section had come loose, likely during the rain pictured in the photograpg. A simple screw would indeed have fixed it, and had I been informed during your stay, I would have addressed it right away. The same applies to the loose screw noted in your photo — a quick fix that I could have taken care of promptly had I known at the time. Moisture from the pictured rain can potentially cause a musty smell in basements, but again, without being notified, I had no opportunity to address the issue during your visit. Lastly, regarding the pool liner — while there may be some ripples, I want to assure you and future guests that the liner does not leak and does not impact the enjoyment or usability of the pool. Repairs are not needed at this time. I always strive to provide a positive experience and encourage open communication during stays. Prompt communication allows me to address concerns in real time, rather than after the fact. I value guest feedback and take all comments seriously to continue improving the property.
