Thank you Roddy for being so welcoming. Beautiful location right in Domme, which was wonderful if you wanted to stay in Domme. The only issue was finding parking if you leave Domme for the day. Be sure you get a good explanation of exactly where to park (3 different areas available). The 3rd municipal parking area for residents was a short walk from the house but you need to know exactly where it is.The house was a beautiful medieval home. Bedrooms and bathroom were very clean. As could be expected with a medieval home, on entry there was a mouldy smell mainly in the main living room which dissipated over time with the windows being open. Overall a great experience.

The space is wonderful - comfortable, cozy, and well equipped. It is very centrally located in Domme and in the Dordogne in general. The house has everything needed to cook family meals. The hot tub is nice, especially for stargazing at night. The hosts are charming and great resources for local activities. Highly recommended, and we hope to return.

Such a lovely characterful house, in a fabulous location right in the heart of Domme. Everything we could wish for to make our stay comfortable, and lovely hosts on hand should we need any help. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing holiday in a stunning part of France.

Perfect base to explore the Dordogne from

We had such a fantastic week in Domme. The house was exactly how it was pictured and described, no hidden surprises. There was so much to do that we wish we had stayed longer. We’ll definitely return. The property itself was beautiful and the views across the rooftops at sunrise from the main bedroom were pretty special. Thank you Roddy and Catriona

Five star property, great hosts, fantastic location!

Maison Boyer is an excellent choice for a stay in Domme! We stayed there for five nights and loved this house. The beds are really comfortable, the house is charming, and has a great big fireplace and a hot tub. The hosts are the best! They brought us more firewood, ensured that there was plenty to eat and drink in the fridge (wine, beer, pastries, bread, eggs, cheese, ...) right before we got there, and did everything they could to help us during the stay! Roddy is really responsive and replied to all our questions before the trip. I can't thank them enough. There is a great restaurant "Auberge de la Rode" right across the street from the house. Domme was a great choice for local trips to the castles and caves, and we had a great vacation as the house was very centrally located - right in the town square. I highly recommend staying at Maison Boyer. Five stars!

Comfortable spacious house in a beautiful village

We have just stayed in Maison Boyer for three glorious weeks after having seen it last year when we stayed in Beynac. This is a lovely old French house on one of the main squares in Domme. It’s very comfortable and has everything you need to enjoy a long term holiday here. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials including excellent cooking facilities and a very good dishwasher. We used the large upstairs bedroom and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom including beautiful bath and shower was also extremely comfortable. The large lounge is furnished with lovely big comfortable couches and there’s a huge fireplace which sadly we didn’t use despite Roddy having left lots of wood for us. There’s a lovely back garden with a jacuzzi - perfect for relaxing. Domme was just starting to ‘come alive’ for ‘la saison’ while we were there and it was interesting to watch the trees and flowers blossom and all the little boutiques and restaurants open up. We would certainly return here if we were staying for an extended period in the Dordogne Thanks Catriona, Roddy and of course the gorgeous Rebus

Great house and location

We loved this rental right in the heart of Domme and well located on the first square as you enter the town so it was very convenient for touring. The owner, Roddy, was there to great us and provided a very generous welcome “basket” with enough food for an arrival meal and a breakfast the next day so no need to rush to a market your first day. He gave us a thorough tour of the house and let us borrow the resident parking tag so we could park for free right in front of the house. The house was very comfortable and the floorplan would be great for two couples. The rooms were large, the kitchen was well equipped, the bed was comfortable, the shower had plenty of hot water and great water pressure and having cocktails/dinners in the large garden was one of the highlights of our vacation. Domme is a lovely village with a small Thursday market, a beautiful vista from the upper part of town, an interesting cave (stalagmites and stalactites not wine) and a pretty public garden. The first week in June is not yet tourist season so it wasn’t crowded although not all of the restaurants were open for lunch and dinner. We recommend this property without reservation and would definitely rent it again!

Gemischte Erfahrung

Der Check-In verlief gut, auch wenn die Informationen im Vorfeld zu spät und über eine App kam, die ich nicht hatte - dies weil das Inserat von Fewo-Direkt woandershin umgeleitet worden war. Somit verlief die Kommunikation leider ins Leere, auch wiederum bei Checkout, obwohl und nachdem ich um einen anderen Kommunikationsweg gebeten hatte. Dies führte zu Frust auf beide Seiten, liegt aber nicht in der Verantwortung des Mieters.Der Empfang war sehr freundlich, und uns wurden Milch, Eier und Brot geschenkt, was sehr aufmerksam ist für die Ankunft am Samstag am frühen Abend.Das Haus ist eine Empfehlung für die Nebensaison, aber nicht für die Hauptsaison. Die Fotos suggerieren einen ruhigen Platz, jedoch ist dieser Platz in den Sommerferien voll geparkt und jeglicher Verkehr fährt hier entlang, wie es scheint.Positiv sind der schöne Garten, morgens hört man die Schwalben zwitschern.., die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, Minuspunkte fanden wir noch die Qualität der Matratzen. Im Elternbett oben sind sie zu weich, und das Kinderzimmer unten mit dem grossen Bodenlangen Fenster zum Platz hin ist eben dem Lärm ausgesetzt. Nach ca. 23 Uhr wird es dann aber ruhig.Ein Ärgernis fand ich im Vorfeld die Buchung ohne jeglichen Vertrag. 7 Wochen im Voraus gebucht, hat man keine Rücktrittsmöglichkeit mehr. Das ist eine Streichung von Rechten, und unschön. Also gut voher überlegen, was man möchte.

Wir waren pünktlich zum Check-out. Sie hatten 20 Minuten früher entschieden, uns aber nicht vorher Bescheid gesagt. Sie hatten unsere Telefonnummern. Wir hatten über 200 Gästegruppen, und sie lobten stets den Luxus der Betten. Sie haben sich für ein Haus an einem Platz in einem der schönsten Dörfer Frankreichs entschieden. Menschen kommen und gehen. Vielleicht waren Sie einfach nur verärgert, weil wir Ihnen den gewünschten Rabatt nicht gewährt haben, obwohl Sie sich über etwas anderes beschwert hatten. Vielen Dank jedoch für Ilre Kommentare und dafür, dass Sie uns 8/10 gegeben haben. Wir werden weiterhin versuchen, uns zu verbessern.

Un séjour merveilleux

Une maison avec beaucoup de cachet et de confort, à la décoration soignée, dans l'un des plus beaux village de France ! Le tout, avec des propriétaires bienveillants et chaleureux. Un très agréable moment passé dans ce village qui mérite qu'on y passe du temps. Nous recommandons vivement cette location.

Charmantes Quartier, tolles Städtchen, sehr nette Vermieter

Wir haben mit unseren Töchtern eine wundervolle Woche in diesem schönen Haus verbracht. Es hat sehr viel Charme und Geschichte, wie dieses wunderbare Dorf auch. Der Bäcker ist gleich gegenüber, es gibt viele Restaurants aber auch einen kleinen Supermarkt und viele Spezialitätengeschäfte, in denen man alles kaufen kann, was man für eine gute Mahlzeit benötigt. Die Vermieter sind außerordentlich nett, wir haben sogar frische Pfifferlinge aus ihrem Wäldchen bekommen. Wir können diese Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen und würden gerne auch mal wiederkommen. Très agréable et confortable demeure de style ancien

La maison est confortable et très bien équipée et décorée. Les parties qui ont été refaites l'ont été avec goût et sobriété. Ses murs épais mettent à l'abris des fortes chaleurs que Domme peut connaître en été. Elle est idéalement placée dans la bastide. Son jacuzzi est le "plus" qui rend la maison encore plus chaleureuse et conforatable. Nous l'avons beaucoup appréciée et la recommandons.

Absolutely wonderful!

What more can I say? Everything was fantastic. Roddy was in touch promptly after our booking to answer our questions & give us good directions to find the property. Catriona was there to greet us on arrival & show us around. She also kindly provided us with a very welcome bottle of wine & food basics sufficient for a first meal. Unusually for a holiday rental, there were lots of 'bits & bobs' such as spices & oils in the kitchen cupboards for our use. That made our self-catering a lot easier. The house was exactly as described, if not better. It's a beautiful old house with many original features, including the peephole in the front door which caused us much amusement! The property was spotlessly clean with everything you could want. The bathrooms were lovely, with great showers. And oh my goodness, the jacuzzi! We spent a lot of time in it, just relaxing with a drink & contemplating life. Domme is a lovely village. Stunning views & architecture, with narrow streets & pretty cottages. There were plenty of restaurants but sadly most of these were not yet open for the season when we stayed in the first week of March. We ate in the Vietnamese restaurant which was charming & high quality. The little supermarket by the Tourist Office was very handy for bread etc, but again the more specialist shops were still closed. Probably saved us a lot of money! We were unfortunate to be in Domme during one of the wettest weeks for a long time but we still found loads to do locally. Plenty of chateaux and gardens to visit, and if you have a wet day we can recommend the caves in Domme itself. 5 minutes walk from the house & spectacular. We really can't recommend this property highly enough. Roddy & Catriona were delightful hosts, relaxed but informative, and very approachable. We can't wait to revisit!

Would definitely stay there again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the home. The owners had equipped the beautiful property with everything we needed. The location within the Region is excellent if you plan to visit area castles and/or prehistoric sites. The Bastide of Domme is one of our favorite villages. The home is located within steps of restaurants, shops and a short walk up the hill to a breathtaking view of the Dordogne Valley. However, despite the convenient location the home was quiet, comfortable and restful.

Maison Boyer, Ten nights early November '18

We had no problem finding the property in the centre of Domme , and were cheerfully greeted by the owner Roddy, who then gave a tour of the house and briefed us on programming the oven , adjusting heating temperature etc . The house is extremely well equipped and there was nothing we felt was missing. The kitchen has an induction hob and high quality fan oven, dishwasher , freezer and fridge. All of the glasses, crockery and utensils were pristine and ready to use. The owners had thoughtfully provided a selection of provisions so there was no need to dash out to the shops the first night. The bathrooms were immaculate with good spacious shower enclosures and a nice deep roll top bath in the upstairs ensuit English and French sat decoders are provided in both the living room and master bedroom. The living room has a couple of big comfortable sofas and a large wood burner which we found easy to light and regulate. Roddy provided ample wood throughout our stay. The central heating kept the house comfortably warm and we were never short of hot water. We had a delightful stay at Maison Boyer thanks to Roddy and Catriona and would certainly return if staying in the area again.

A beautiful house, wonderful location, everything we had hoped for!

We could not recommend this property highly enough. The house has all the character of an old property but all the benefits of modern living. It's location is wonderful, right in the centre of Domme but amazingly peaceful and tranquil. The owner was there to meet us,which was very useful. The fridge was stocked with all the essentials to get us started plus a bottle of vin! ! The hot tub in the garden was the icing on the cake! The Auberge de Rode directly opposite the house does delicious food but eating in the garden of the house was equally pleasurable. Tremendous range of birds, including a cuckoo were great to listen to. Can't recommend highly enough.

Gemütlich - gut eingerichtet - zentral gelegen

Unsere Frühlingswoche im Périgord und im Ferienhaus von Roddy Thomson haben wir sehr genossen. Domme ist idealer Ausgangsort für Ausflüge nach Sarlat, Bergerac, Perigeux und in die Flusslandschaft der Dordogne. Das Ferienhaus im Herzen von Domme war uns immer wieder Rückzugs- und Erholungsort - sei es zur Lektüre im ruhigen Garten, zum Sprudelbad im Jacuzzi oder zum gemeinsamen Kochen in der ausserordentlich gut eingerichteten Wohnküche. Vielen Dank - es war sehr schön!

un sejour absolument parfait

Roddy et sa femme sont des gens vraiment charmants et tres accueillants. Leur maison est très confortable, très pratique. nous y etions avec nos deux enfants et avons pleinement profité de l emplacement ideal, du charmant village de Domme et des alentours. Beaucoup de visites sont possibles a moins de 15 min de la maison. et en fin de journee, nous profitions du jacuzzi et de la cheminee. la maison est aussi bien equipee que decoree. merci pour ce superbe séjour!

Great location with owner largesse

Expansive Domme house with private patio for al fresco relaxation. And the owner supplied a bottle of claret, cheese, eggs, bread, milk, orange juice, a tin of duck rillettes, and more in the fridge. Nice fireplace too. So if you want two bedrooms and two baths in Domme, don’t pass it up.

Charming

Domme is a wonderful village, little busy with tourists but it all flows and there are some fantastic places to eat. The property was beautifully presented and our hosts were both helpful and informative. Would thoroughly recommend the house and the area, they're both a little special and I'm sure every visitor will enjoy their experience.

Belle maison de village, très bien équipée et idéalement placée

Belle maison de village, accueil très attentionné, très bien équipée : on se sent tout de suite chez soi. Nous y étions avec 3 enfants de 7, 4 et 2 ans et tout était parfait. Le Jacuzzi a fait leur joie le jour et notre détente à la tombée de la nuit. La maison est située sur l'une des places principales du village de Domme, village touristique du Périgord noir. Beaucoup de commerces à proximité immédiate, beaucoup d'activité touristique fin juillet, sans que ce ne soit l'usine comme Sarlat quand même. Vue agréable sur le côté principal de la maison, parking de l'autre (la place est un parking, pour un emplacement, prévoir un tout petit budget quotidien en plus, aucune nuisance sonore). La région est merveilleuse et il y a beaucoup d'activités fantastiques à faire dans un rayon de moins de 30 minutes en voiture, avec les enfants ... tellement que nous n'avons pas pu toutes les faire. Nous recommandons cette location.
