Mins to 5-Points/Outdoor Awning-Highland Hideaway

Welcome to Highland Hideaway! Our home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, accommodating up to 13 guests! This is a great place for families and friends traveling together. We are within walking distance of many restaurants and less than a mile from the hospital and UAB. Our photos include professional shots and real-time images taken by our cleaning team, so you know exactly what to expect. Pets are welcome with a fee. We would love to host you!

The front of the home has many steps leading to the door, and the driveway is steep; this might be challenging for some guests. An easier parking option is to use the alleyway behind the home. Between the driveway and alleyway, we can accommodate four vehicles. Guests will enter through the front door (by climbing the front exterior stairs; please review the listing photos to see the stairs) or through the back door from the alleyway using a digital keypad. Enjoy a comfortable living room, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, and onsite laundry. Head downstairs into the basement converted into the fourth bedroom with two full beds. The other three bedrooms are upstairs: bedroom one with a king, bedroom two with a queen, and bedroom three with one twin and one twin-over-twin bunk bed. Outside, enjoy a covered deck area in the back and fenced-in yard. ***A pack 'n play/travel crib is available upon request.***

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this property. The house was filthy—there was visible dirt and grime, and to make matters worse, the place was infested with insects and bugs. I did not feel comfortable at all during my visit. This was far from what was advertised and definitely not worth the money. I would not recommend staying here unless the host takes serious steps to improve cleanliness and pest control.

The Internet in the home did not work for the entire weekend that we were there. We were unable to locate the router for the internet, to attempt to reset/troubleshoot, due to it not being in any of the areas they claimed that it was. The stair railing to the downstairs was loose and one of the screws fell out. There were ants in both the hall bathroom and kitchen. The trashcans in the back alley were full, so we barely could fit the trash that we’re throwing away. Most of the towels and bed linen were not properly cleaned and had some stains, so I purchased some for us to use. The mattresses had stains on them. The light in the bedroom with the bunked flickers as well as the hall bathroom. The latch for the doorknob on the front door is broken, so you have to pull it closed in order for it to lock properly. And a few other small things here and there, other than that it’s a decent home just not if you have young kids or you’re a young adult.
