About this property
Luxury Barn on Historic Ranch
Surrounded by nature and steeped in the spirit of the Old West, bring your horse and find equine-guided healing in peaceful, luxurious simplicity.
Welcome to your sanctuary in the heart of Colorado’s horse country—a hand-crafted barn apartment nestled on a peaceful 60-acre ranch in Durango. Whether you're traveling to escape the summer heat or seeking a quiet place to reconnect with yourself and your horse, this one-of-a-kind destination offers a rare blend of rustic charm, luxury amenities, deep history, and soulful connection to nature.
This land is more than just beautiful—it’s rooted in the spirit of the Old West. Originally homesteaded in 1886, the property was once a stop along an old wagon trail that cut through these hills. You can still feel echoes of the past in the landscape—whispers of pioneers, cowboys, and the enduring rhythm of horse and land.
Every structure on the ranch has been completely rebuilt, preserving its soul but elevating it into a refined, luxurious experience. The old barns were taken down piece by piece—and their wood and character have been lovingly repurposed into handcrafted furniture, cabinetry, and finishes throughout the property. What once was worn and weathered is now artfully revived, creating a warm blend of history, elegance, and natural connection.
The 1,000 sq ft apartment is thoughtfully designed with artisan craftsmanship throughout—from custom woodwork to hand-built furniture. The spacious Master Suite provides a restful retreat, while the second smaller bedroom—originally an office—has been beautifully converted into a cozy guest space with a dedicated bathroom and convenient hanging storage. The chef’s kitchen is a dream come true, featuring a Viking stove and all the essential tools for cooking up comfort and connection.
Nature lovers will find peace beside the Florida River, which flows through the property, or relaxing by the tranquil pond under Colorado’s endless sky. Wildlife is abundant here—you may spot deer, wild turkeys, foxes, bobcats, coyotes, bears, lizards, and a wide variety of birds that make this land their home. It’s a perfect setting to unplug, observe, and breathe in the rhythms of the natural world.
Equestrians are welcome to bring their horses (stall and turnout available for an additional fee). Ride straight from the ranch onto over 500 acres of BLM land—a rider’s paradise with wide-open views and endless exploration. There’s also a riding arena with a few obstacles for training or warm-up, and serene pastures for turnout. While we don’t offer trail rides on-site, a nearby outfitter just down the road does.
This ranch is more than a place to visit. It’s a place to exhale, to listen, and to remember who you are—with the help of nature, horses, and a setting where every detail has been touched with intention.
Come as you are. Let the land hold you. Let the horses teach you.
This is where luxury meets legacy—and the trail ahead leads back to yourself
