Imagine the best vacation you will ever have. It starts here. Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting here on the your own private deck , the ocean sighing in the background and the warm breeze on your skin. You have found yourself at Fishermens Village located in the secluded, gated residential community of Playa Car Fase 1. This jewel of a property is located right on the white sand private beach and offers you the independence of a warm home based condominium supported by a full service boutique hotel. The property is an easy walk via the cobblestone streets past the ruins or along the wide and white sand beach, into the center of Playa Del Carmen. Great restaurants, stores and bars await your exploration. This is also where you will find the ferry dock that will take you to Cozumel for a day time getaway.

Our top floor unit provides breathtaking ocean views and is well situated in the center of the complex .The private deserted beach is steps from your door and includes huge canopy beds to relax on and perhaps catch up on the great book you have been dying to read. We have Wi-Fi in our suite as well as an electric bottled water dispenser. Our air conditioned unit has three separate a/c units for your comfort. The doors and windows have screens so you can have the door open. our unit boasts a fully equipped kitchen and two separate bedrooms and a washer and dryer. The master bedroom is located on the top floor, has a king size bed and a stunning view overlooking the teal blue Caribbean ocean. The second bedroom has a queen size with its own full bathroom and there is also an additional double pull out bed located in the spacious living room. 3 flat screen TV’s with cable and all are Wi-Fi functional, are in the unit and there are two full bathrooms and one powder room. Everyone can get ready at the same time and hit the beach together.

The hotel side of the property is managed by the Sunset Group and provides you with all the amenities of a full service hotel that you would expect. Your stay includes access to a full service spa and a full gym. You can enjoy the water and then access the swim up pool bar for a thirst quencher. Wander down to the beach and there is the place to get your beach towels, take out a kayak, catamaran, paddle board, bicycle or boogie board. There are two restaurants on site including one right on the beach so you never have to leave your canopy bed. You have an option to take an all inclusive package should you wish which includes your beverages and food. Room service is available right to your suite. In the lobby you will find a concierge and a car rental agent should you choose to go adventuring, golfing, exploring or shopping. Your location gives you a wonderful base from which to discover the beauties of the Mayan Riviera. Once you have stayed here you will never book anywhere else.

Love Love Love this Condo !!

This was our second time staying in this Condo, we absolutely love this place. The view is spectacular. The staff at Fisherman's are always so nice and accommodating. The pool and beach are always clean and inviting. 5th Ave is very close and we had a delicious dinner there every night.. The owner is very nice to work with and Tara is on site and she is the bomb! We will defiantly be back again.

Family wedding!

We had a lovely 7 night stay for a wedding. The photos and description provided are very accurate. It has the best view of resort and beach. The bedrooms are both ensuite, and have plenty of space so you are not living on top of one another. We were greeted with wine, fruit and a welcome card, which was a lovely touch. Drinking water was also provided during our stay - which was very welcome considering how hot it can get. Tara (I believe a property manager) was great, she checked in on us a couple of times during our stay. The condo itself is the perfect distance from everything you could need. The kitchen has everything you could need - we even cooked a few nights in the flat. We took a few leisurely strolls to 5th ave. The walk in the opposite direction is just as nice, with lots of water sporting activities available for purchase. The beach is gorgeous and never crowded. On our last night we even witnessed a giant turtle lay eggs on the beach before returning to the water!!! Kathryn (the VRBO owner) was very helpful in booking and arranging our stay, and following up to see if everything went okay. I would definitely rent from her again. Full disclosure, the only reason I could not give our stay 5 stars is we had a few issues with the water, which did pose a few challenges when trying to look our best for wedding photos. Some of the days in the master suite the pressure was so low we weren't able to shower at all. However, Tara advised the pressure does have a tendency to lower at peak showering times i.e. before dinner, etc. The entire resort, including resorts down the road, also had the water switched off for maintenance, so I think that exacerbated any water pressure issues that may have already existed. We loved Playa Del Carmen - and are planning to return next year :)

Looks Can Be Deceiving

This property appears to be fabulous from the photos but it's really like meeting someone on an online dating site and when you meet them in person you realize they used pictures from 10 years ago. The condo itself was OK aside from the fact of a giant, gross dead centipede on the bathroom floor and sugar ants all over the kitchen. The pictures are deceiving. The beach doesn't look like that and it hasn't for years. Update the pictures so people know what they really renting. The beach was not usable because the seaweed extends all the way out to about 150 yards in the water. I realize that a natural occurrence is not the fault of the property owner but we spoke to many locals about the seaweed and they said the seaweed is constant, not seasonal and it's been like that for years. Update your photos! Also, there is no elevator which wasn't disclosed in the listing. The condo is on the 3rd floor which was fine for us but difficult on my moms knee. Would've been nice to know there was no elevator. The property manager was very responsive but came off as rude the day we checked in. Her responses to simple questions seemed snide and not helpful. We came very close to asking her to leave. Not a good way to start a vacation and she left a bad taste in our mouths. Also, this is NOT a 2 bedroom condo. This is a 1 bedroom with a loft! Bedrooms have doors! The master loft had NO privacy at all because there was no door. The shower upstairs was constantly cold and hot and difficult to shower without freezing and scalding hot water. Finally, the only positive things I can say about this place is that the neighborhood it's located in is really nice and felt very safe; also the staff at the hotel was all very nice and helpful.

Best vacation ever!

If you are trying to decide whether to stay here, stop now and do it! My husband already wants to book again for next year which says a lot. We have stayed many places in the area (Cancun, Cozumel as well as Playa) and this place had it all. Whatever you are looking for is here. We took advantage of the spa services, restaurants and bars and loved them all. This is without a doubt the best view in the resort. We spent plenty of time just sitting on the balcony and relaxing. If you happen to stay at the right time of year as we did, leaving the windows open was a wonderful treat. Especially at night when we fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. The trip to town is a short walk down the beach or maybe a 5-minute cab ride. There is so much to do in town as well. We went to the local shops, restaurants and beach bars. La Mission (out of this world coconut shrimp) and Tarraya beach bar (fantastic margaritas and food) were a couple of our favorites. The resort’s beach is one of the most beautiful and well-kept stretches in the area and makes for enjoyable swims or walks. If you like to read take advantage of all the books Kathryn has at your disposal. Makes for a relaxing read on the beach. Tara was so helpful and friendly I felt like I already knew her the minute we met. I cannot find a single thing to complain about and was glad to find the few negatives mentioned in some reviews were unfounded. The resort staff was also always very friendly and helpful. By the way, we already booked again! Thanks for everything Kathryn!

An awesome experience!

The whole experience was awesome! The condo exceeded our expectations. The condo is fully equipped. Everything is as described in the listing and even better. Kathryn, the owner, and Tara, the manager, were always prompt to assist in anything we needed. The truth is that everything went perfect, I only had to contact Tara to thank her for how well everything had been ready for us. All was in perfect condition. The wine and fruit welcome basket were perfect after a long day travelling. The most amazing part of the condo is the breathtaking view it has, just as Kathryn describes in her listing post. You don't need to go to any 5 stars restaurant for the view, because you have it there all the time. We had some awesome breakfasts and meals with the most wonderful teal and aqua backdrop. You have all sorts of restaurants and amenities 5 to 10 minutes away in 5th Ave. or in the resort. The resort's staff is the best. Everyone is kind and open to help. Thanks to Absalon, Nene, Victor, Don Anselmo, they were all awesome!We did the Kayak tour and used the catamaran. We tried the brunch in the resorts Terraza restaurant and it was excellent. Playacar, the community where the condo is located is also amazing. We are sure planning to go back in the future!

Our family of five adults stayed here for 5 days, July2018, @ the end of our 13-day vacation, and I Loved It! The Fishermen's resort was perfect; fabulous views, clean beach w/extremely comfortable beach furniture, a short walk to everything, and the staff was courteous & very friendly. If you’re looking for R&R /or you’re the active type, then this should be you next rental, as it offers it all..I would stay here again!! Pros: service/location/amenities (A+++); Owner response was quick/very professional, transactions were easy & timely, and their local management rep(Tara) was extremely helpful. The location was perfect, area was very beautiful, safe walks to 5th ave. The resort maintains a very clean beach and they have a lifeguard. The unit has a Large balcony w/ beautiful resort & ocean views. All facilities and grounds were very clean. The Spa was a nice, peaceful, and the staff was trained and very professional; I visited the gym, large steam room, jacuzzi, and I even took in a massage(R&R).. The entire resort staff was very friendly, their check-in process was smooth; we were In our unit in about 10 minutes..Nice! They have plenty of onsite activities, with a concierge desk for planning offsite excursions; Our family took part in the onsite stuff, kayak tour, snorkeling, pool aerobics, beach & pool volley ball. The food & drink: tasty and reasonable priced, serving breakfast/lunch/dinner, with 2 full bars; as a family of 5 adults, we spent less then 100usd per day, for one meal and about three hours of mixers. The kitchen has full-size appliances, and all the extras for lengthy stays(a blessing for families). Water; the unit has a large water dispenser w/ free refills, this was a nice treat! Cons: living room furniture, balcony furniture, and the master bed -- The living room furniture does not accommodate 5-6 adults. The owner could consider replacing bulky furniture (dining & living area), creating more space & comfort; A wall entertainment w/ Murphy bed design, a sectional or sofa & love seat combo, this would definitely add value. The balcony furniture; please upgrade the plastic furniture, for comfort & safety; I kept moving dining a chair in/out for comfort and piece of mind. You will notice the other owner’s balconies & patio's, and my first thought was, I wish this unit had their outdoor furniture. The Master bed; my wife and I felt like we were sleeping on a box spring, even with the thin foam pad. / VAFab5

Fishermans is wonderful!

When I'm on vacation I want to be able to stroll out to the pool or beach on my schedule and have a place to relax.....Fisherman's is a small resort that accommodates all of it's guests with ample loungers mitigating the early morning towel game that you have to play at the mega resorts. Aside from the gorgeous Gulf view, beautiful grounds and friendly staff, I highly recommend the restaurant on property. It was a perfect family vacation destination.

Beautiful unit, amazing view, lovely hotel area!

Our stay was amazing. We stayed as 2 adults and 2 kids. The view is indeed the best view out there - you are staring straight at the ocean. This was the best of both worlds - we had space of a condo, but amenities of a hotel (fresh towels for the pool, really comfy chairs, bar w/fairly cheap drinks since we didn't buy the all inclusive package). The unit had everything we could have needed, including a blender to make mixed drinks. It's 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath (we didn't even realize how many bathrooms there were). We found beach toys and boogie boards for the kids which was super awesome. Also, the beach chairs were ALWAYS available, as were the pool chairs. There are some activities during the day run by a few of the girls who work there, but we didn't take much interest in them so just relaxed. About 15 minute walk to town along the beach. Tara who manages the property was FABULOUS! She put up with us and accommodated our every need. Could not have been more pleased.

The Very Best of “Both Worlds”

What a find! This is a spacious, very well-appointed condo sitting on top of a great resort with the best view and beach in town. The owner is terrific, and the on-site manager, Tara, is absolutely fantastic. She has perfected the rare art of being attentive while giving you complete privacy and autonomy. (I am often taken aback by on-site hosts who, described as “available” or “helpful” are basically hound-dogging you for your entire vacation. We once had one in Galveston who literally pounded on our door—on Thanksgiving Day—because he wanted to change an OUTDOOR lightbulb.) Tara is perfect. By all means, take advantage of their order-ahead grocery delivery service. I was extremely satisfied with all of my items, especially the produce. I never got to meet Luis, but I certainly hope to on my next trip. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is completely functional, the fridge is big enough, (sometimes an issue elsewhere), the balcony is 100% usable and super for watching the sunrise. The showers are excellent—roomy and with good water pressure. The resort staff is extremely hospitable—with one exception: a dining room manager who was exceedingly aggressive and shockingly rude to me at the “welcome” party. She was clearly in the wrong and embarrassed her staff with her behavior. The star of the resorts’s entire show is Victor, their activities director. He is warm, professional, a delightful conversationalist, and truly dedicated. One rainy day he had three very active young kids fully absorbed in board games, Uno and Jenga—no whining, just laughter. Go to his morning yoga session—you’ll be so glad you did! I highly and heartily recommend this rental. I know I’m going to go back to this one.

Great view. Great location. Great vacation!

We thought we were renting a condo, but upon arrival, we discovered that our condo is located within a resort. All amenities were available to us. Spa. Restaurant. Activities. Pool. Hot tub. Clean beach. Volleyball court. Kayaks. Staff. This was the perfect getaway for my mother-in-law and I. The roomy 2 bedroom condo allowed us to each have our own bed and bath. The kitchen had everything we needed for making our own meals. After a fairly easy walk to Wal-mart, we were able to stock up on food, snacks, drinks, then we took a cab back. Kathryn provides insulated to-go cups, and we were able to mix our own cocktails and enjoy them on the beach. The condo has 3 different air conditioners; one for each bedroom and one for the living area. This made it easy for us to set the temps to our own comfort levels. The linen closet was well stocked, allowing us to grab towels & washcloths as needed. Also in the closet and available for our use were lots of extra hangers, an ice chest, some floats, boogie boards, buckets and shovels for playing in the sand, as well as a tote bag. We were also glad to see that a safe is provided for our use. Kathryn has thought of everything, including some good books. Tara and Luis are the caregivers. They were excellent at communication before we arrived, as well as after. They checked in on us daily and remedied any issues promptly (clogged drain, light bulb out). A big thanks for the fresh fruit, beautiful flowers and wine upon our arrival! We were made to feel special and welcome from the moment we arrived. The complex has a feeling of safety. It is located well-within a posh, gated community with security guards. Entry could not be made by vehicle without security clearance (even taxi cabs). Regarding the beach, Gabriel is employed to clear the beach of seaweed every day. He starts digging a hole at 6am and by 2pm he has buried the seaweed, leaving the beach clean and beautiful. Hardest worker within miles. I am sure of it. Absalon is the lifeguard, always engaging the guests. At the front entry, Marcial was always smiling, greeting guests by name. All staff were professional and friendly. The pool, grounds and buildings are clean and refreshed throughout the day. We did enjoy one breakfast buffet, while there. The food was plentiful and tasty. Will we go back? Without question. Kathryn, thank you for making our stay and experience in Playa so memorable!

completely amazing!!

The condo was fabulous! It was exactly as it was advertised. Beautiful inside and out. The location of the property was perfect. The veiw was spectacular. You could spend the day on the beach or go to any park without much trouble. The staff at the Fisherman were very helpful and pleasant. Grounds were always clean and beautiful. Spectacular blue Caribbean views!

We just returned from a week at Sunset Fishermen's in Kathryn's unit. We had the most wonderful time, and all the pictures on the site do not do it justice. The resort is in a perfect location. We were able to walk to downtown either on the beach or down the cobblestone streets. Felt completely safe the whole time. Kathryn was wonderful to deal with during the rental process, and Tara and Luis helped us with our every need while there. Luis was there to greet us the night we arrived, which was so helpful and reassuring. They checked with us throughout the week and answered any questions we had, which I'm sure were many! If we ever return to Playa , we hope to stay in Kathryn's unit again. It was a week in paradise.

Just spent one week in this condo. Entire experience from beginning to end was so easy. Kathryn, the owner, was so easy to work with. She answered all questions and gave all confirmations promptly. Nice condo in best location of complex . Amazing Full Ocean View !! Beautiful beach and nice pool. Hotel portion does a great job. Friendly , helpful people . Good restaurant and bar. We walked into Play Del Carmen for dinner each night . Easy walk. Kathryn put us in contact with her property managers Tara and Luis before we departed for Cancun. They were the best . We had one issue and they were at our door in 20 minutes . Issue fixed in another 20 minutes ! I felt so confident that if we needed anything they would be there for us. They checked up on us a couple of times during the week and were full of information and recommendations . Thank you Kathryn, Tara and Luis . We had a Fantastic time !

Local rep. came by several times to check to see if we needed anything. Very kind and helpful woman. The rental is beautiful, extremely clean and spacious. Gorgeous marble floors and bathrooms. Kitchen is well equipped with everyhing one might need. The view from the balcony is the best in the Fishermen's complex. Very quiet and peaceful environment. Lulled to sleep with the sound of the ocean. We never saw anyone else on the stairways except for cleaning staff. Lovely one mile walk through beautiful neighborhood or along beach to Fifth Avenue filled with shops and restaurants. Fishermen's is idly located. Of all the beach areas north and south of the pier it is the most beautiful. Unfortunately the complex needs some upgrades which are out of the owner's control. The steam room never worked while we were there for 12 days, gym is lacking basic equipment and bikes are old and rusty. However, we had a fantastic stay at Kathryn's unit and would highly recommend her unit.

Best lcation in Playacar!

We have been coming to Playa for 21 years, and have stayed at the Fisherman's Village complex a few times. This front and centre unit was by far the best! From the moment you step in the condo you can see your ocean view. When you are blending some margaritas at the kitchen counter you can enjoy your ocean view....The dining and living areas are very comfortable and having Netflix was a nice touch in a country with few English channels! The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need, and a great supply of wine glasses! We are not air conditioner people so we loved that the unit had screens on the windows and patio doors, not something you find in all condo's in Playa, which made it possible to leave the master bedroom window open all night so you could enjoy the sound of the waves lapping on the shore and the fresh breeze. The master suite is huge and very private with an attached ensuite and again gorgeous views! We find the size of the complex itself to be cozy, a beautiful pool area and the beaches in Playacar to us are the best in the area. The welcome fruit basket, flowers and vino were extremely thoughtful and appreciated. This is a top rate property and the owners are great to deal with as is their concierge Tara & Luis! We will definitely be recommending this property to our friends & family. While in the area make sure to try out Babe's noodle house for great Thai food & El Diez Argentinian restaurant for delicious arrachera! Day trips to Isla Mujeres is a must as well as swimming with the Tortugas in Akumal! Enjoy......

Wonderfully relaxing and comfortable

My sister and I stayed in this condo for 7 nights and we enjoyed our stay very much. The condo is close to the ocean and is in an area without any high-rise hotels. The beach is groomed every day so seaweed isn't a problem. The condo is well equipped and the balcony gives you a front-row seat to the pool area and ocean. We used PayPal to book the condo, taxi and initial grocery order and I was glad this could be done securely. The hotel staff is very nice and the walk into town is safe and picturesque. The pool area was great and the Jacuzzi is working again. The pool chairs are reserved by placing a cabana towel on them, so get there early if you want a seat. They were all taken by 9am. Other than that, the place is very relaxing and fun. Highly recommended!

we are originally from Vancouver Canada and now located in Toronto. We started going to Mexico about 20 years ago and we fell in love with both Playa Del Carmen and Fishermens.

Why they chose this property

Here was the best of both worlds located right on the beach with a hotel on the property. It still is a small boutique gem in the midst of all the sprawling all inclusive resorts on the Mayan Riviera.

What makes this property unique

We never tire of sitting on the deck and taking in breathtaking view. Relaxing at the beach with a great book and swimmng in the warm turquoise waters.
