We had such a nice time at Edna's house! The beds were comfy and there was plenty of space for 8 of us to sleep. We loved walking around the town and we were very close to GOTL. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Can't say enough great things about our stay!! Everything was as the host said it would be, even better, the rooms were very clean and the bath rooms and showers were nicer than any motel. The property has a large deck, privacy fence and a nice fire pit. Living room and kitchen were large and ready to be enjoyed. If we visit GOTL again we will gladly stay at this property. Kelly you have a nice place and have done a great job!Clyde Brewer,
A beautiful home perfect for our family of 4 to enjoy a quick end of summer trip to the lake. All of the added touches from blankets to use while on the couch to coffee and creamer provided the hosts know how to prepare for guests!!! The high top island bar in the kitchen was perfect for games and puzzles and the location was great as we were able to visit GOTL and the Ashtabula area.
Our stay was great, it was warm and inviting. The kids enjoyed being outside making smores around the fire pit. We all enjoyed our stay, very comfortable. One suggestion is to buff the corners on the banksters which are very sharp.one of the kids bumped and cut his arm (nothing to serious). We felt like we were home.
Everything was good. Couple of things to note- not enough towels and the towels provided were pretty bad quality. There wasn't enough trash bags there was 4 total so we had to go out and buy more (with 8 people in a house you can expect a lot of trash to accumulate) the shower steam set off the fire alarm R least 4 times which was unlike everything I've see before. Also all of the closets were locked so no storage space to unpack.

The house itself is OK, but there were a few issues. The dishes and silverware had been put away dirty, so we had to wash everything. The upstairs bathroom door sticks to its frame and made a very loud noise every time it was opened or closed. Also, the second full bath is actually on the first floor off the kitchen and has the washer/dryer in it. The power went out for a couple hours the first night we were there, which was frustrating. The house has AC, but I think it's just downstairs as the upstairs was quite warm. Our biggest issue with this property is that there is a house being built next door and the construction was quite loud. There is also an overturned port-a-potty on the front tree lawn near the walkway to the property. This was not disclosed when we made the reservation or at any time prior to our arrival. If we had known, we would have stayed elsewhere.
We had a great stay at Edna’s Lake Home! Everything was exactly as advertised and within walking distance of the best of Ashtabula.

About the host
Hosted by Kelly Frey
Hi, we’re William and Kelly! William is from Ashtabula, Ohio, and Kelly is from Newark, Ohio. We love taking on full renovation projects and giving classic spaces a fresh, modern twist. Hosting allows us to share the comfort and style we’ve created with others. Whether it's a cozy getaway or a home base for adventure, we love providing a place that feels just right for your stay.
Why they chose this property
This neighborhood holds a special place in our hearts. William’s grandmother, Iola, lived directly across the street, so this area is full of cherished family memories. For Kelly, Ashtabula is especially meaningful—it was the last place she was able to take her mother on vacation before her passing. Beyond the personal connection, we love the charm of the historic harbor, the walkability to the beach and local shops, and the peaceful, welcoming vibe of the community.
What makes this property unique
An extended getaway, our spacious home is designed to make you feel right at home while offering a touch of lake life luxury. With room to sleep up to 8 guests, it’s perfect for families, friends, or couples looking to unwind and explore the charm of Lake Erie’s shoreline. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped Samsung kitchen ready for you to prepare anything from a quick breakfast to a full dinner spread. Enjoy movie nights on the 75” Smart TV with surround sound!
Step outside and take in the charm of our neighborhood. Sip your morning coffee on the covered front porch and enjoy dinner with a glass of wine on the back patio as the sunsets over the lake. You’re just a short stroll to Walnut Beach, the Bridge Street district filled with unique shops and local restaurants, and seasonal events like Wine & Walleye and the Beach Glass Festival. Located only minutes from Geneva-on-the-Lake, SPIRE Institute, and the region’s renowned wineries, you’ll find adventure, relaxation, and local flavor at every turn.
