The place was great! Would definitely stay there again. The beds were comfortable, plenty of blankets and pillows. All the luxuries of home. The only suggestion is to put up a shelf in the bathroom since there is no counter space.

My apologies for the delay in replying to your review. I did not realize that we had this review. Thank you however Melissa for this great review of our cottage. We are glad that you were comfortable and with regard to the shelf unfortunately the shelves are hidden completely behind the mirrors. My apologies for not mentioning to you that that is where they were when showing you around. They have extra toiletries for our guests in them.
Safe travels and best wishes

We had a bother wonderful Ashland adventure t o see OSF. Made better by this cottage to stay in. It’s an easy walk into downtown while also being far enough away that it’s still quiet and cozy at night. While we spent most of our time out and about the cottage was a great place to come back to. The room window ax units quickly cooled the place and made for comfy evenings/nights. It was just what we needed for our trip.
Abigail’s Cottage was perfect place to stay for our weekend adventure into Ashland. The accommodations were cozy and clean. There were even snacks and treats offered! During our tour of the cottage we informed the owners about our play scheduled in the outdoor theater. They had prepared cushions and blankets that were available to take to the theater. What a wonderful gesture!! It really made our experience there that much better!
We also loved the central location and how easy and safe it was to walk into downtown, but also far enough away that it was peaceful and quiet at night.
Ultimately a wonderful experience and would return to Abigail’s Cottage for future visits!
Thank you!

Our visit to Ashland was ruined by the property manager. While we tried to abide by instructions to smoke away from the cottage, it wasn't far enough for the manager. His handling of the situation was reprehensible....stomping around, threatening and pugnacious. I've stayed at dozens of VRBO rentals over the years and NEVER had a complaint nor a run-in with a property manager. During his tirade, I stayed calm and assured him my family would be far away from the property line if they smoked. Evidently, this wasn't good enough as he continued his grumbling. After heading back to the main house, I saw a squad car pull up and the manager leaning in the window. I didn't know what to make of it, but guess he felt smoking near a house is a criminal offense. I do not recommend this cottage to anyone (smoker or not).

With regards to you, our guest it would appear that you did not mention that you were in violation of our policies. We have experienced that sometimes as property rental owners, guests who are in violation of our policies will more often than not, write a negative review about their stay. Fortunately we can rely upon past reviews and logic to inform future guests as to the truth. At the time of discovery I reported the violation to my vacation rental site. Our policies protect not only ourselves but our future guests. With respect we do not allow the smoking / vaping etc. or storage of certain items on our premises or within 10ft of the property. This is clearly stated in our policies.
Upon your arrival you were required to both read and sign acceptance of our terms and conditions clearly stated on our Check In form. You both read and signed acceptance of our terms and conditions at that time. Only on day two did I noticed the pungent odor of smoke whilst putting our trash cans out for collection at the back of the property. I knocked on the door, which you answered and politely requested that you confirm that you were not smoking on the premises. I then again politely, requested that you remove the pungent smelling items to your vehicle for storage as it is very difficult to remove odors from our rental that may in turn affect the next guests. I then returned with our check in forms to show you, your signature of acceptance of our policies. These were the only two interactions I had with you over a four night stay on the matter. I did however note that you had removed the item to your vehicle for storage and did not pursue the matter any further. We did not terminate our rental agreement with you at the time - although subsequently our OTA suggested that we should have done so. With regard to the appearance of a Police car, that was coincidental as they were there purely to check up upon a reported parking violation. This is on public record I would imagine. The fact I spoke with officer had nothing to do with you our guest. In my opinion if you were concerned then you realized that probably were in violation of our policies. I would also like to confirm that my wife and I are the owners of this lovely old property and not the managers. We believe in ensuring that our guests have the right to privacy but at the same time be cognizant of the fact that this too is our property and subsequently it needs to be maintained for our future guests.
Friendly helpful hosts, clean peaceful space, added value: snacks, games, information and resources.

We are originally from Zimbabwe and fell in love with Ashland, Oregon whilst on an RV Trip. Abigail's Bed and Breakfast Inn crossed our path a few years later. We have both worked in the hospitality industry for many years and have traveled extensively using vacation rentals throughout. We have taken measures to ensure that our Vacation Cottage is completely up to our stringent standards. Comfort, cleanliness, furnishings, information about the area, location, etc. are what we look for when searching for accommodation and therefore we have endeavored to supply all. We are active members of the Ashland Lodging Association. We choose Ashland, Oregon to be our new home after an American couple suggested we visit the area. Being a Chef and extremely passionate about Wine and Food made this small town an ideal place for us to settle. We also gained a wonderful culture of Shakespeare and New Play Theatre as well as diverse Art galleries. More importantly our wine region is growing in recognition yearly. We are becoming well known for our hiking, biking and walking trails in this area. Not to forget our ski mountain Mt Ashland. This town is a perfect vacation destination for all.
Why they chose this property

Ashland, Oregon offers diverse fine dining experiences one would expect to find in large culturally diverse cities. Our Southern Oregon Wines are gaining recognition far and wide and if you are partial to a Tempranillo or a Pinot then this is the place to be. Lithia Park right in the heart of town offers, hiking trails through wonderful garden and wooded areas. Biking is gaining popularity here and our trails are expanding throughout. Don't forget, Ashland, Oregon offers the best of the best!
