“Heaven on Earth” provided a true winter haven for our 2 night stay—a peaceful scenic setting for lots of amenities! The children really enjoyed playing in the snow and sled boarding right in the yard and adjacent woods. More fun awaited at the Clubhouse indoor pool and arcade. And cross country skiing was a hit at nearby Prospect Mountain. The hot tub and fireplace enhanced the coziness, and our host was welcoming and responsive. All and all a grand getaway experience!

House is much smaller than it appears, owner turned off hot water in the middle of the night, took hours to get back up in the morning. Appliances are old and clog up. Unreasonable fees
The cabin is wonderful. And as incredible as it sounds, it's much more beautiful and impressive in person. Surrounded by nature. Very peaceful and quiet. I recommend going for at least 3 days. You'll thank me later. And as a final piece of advice, since it's such a small town, I recommend doing your shopping early. Delivery is quite difficult, and there are no Ubers.
My family and I loved our stay. This cabin had everything we needed and more. One thing we do wish we had was fans in the upstairs rooms, as we stayed in the summer time and it did get quite hot up there. The owners were very helpful, and amazing with communication. We would absolutely love to stay here again one day!
This cabin is geared more for Winter and skiing since there is no air conditioning. Our family of 5 guys stayed here on 7/25/2025 because it was not that far from our rafting location, hiking and other attractions in southern VT. The cabin is very clean and the kitchen is stocked for all one's needs. We spent several nights after dinner around the firepit. We very much enjoyed staying here.
Comfortable cabin with hot tub in a great location
We had a great time at this cabin - the house was well equipped, including spices and condiments that made cooking easy. The hot tub and foozball table were a hit with our family. Access to the Chimney Hill amenities was great while being in the lower neighborhood made it easier to get out and about more quickly.
We had a beautiful vacation at the property. The hot tub was everything we needed after a long day of skiing. This pet friendly house was perfectly laid out providing space and comfort for all.

Thank you for your five-star review Brett. And thank you for appreciating our cabin for what it is - beautiful. We hope you come back!
We gathered our four adult kids and grandma at this house for a week. The accommodations worked out great. The beds were comfortable and the house has lots of little extras, such as spices and books to read.

Very cozy and nice cabin
We went there over the Christmas weekend. The cabin was spacious enough for our group. It was cozy and well sufficient for all our needs. All things were very well instructed by Jivka about the cabin. There is a community pool and game room which was also a plus.

Thank you for the 5 star review Tsheten. We are glad that you experienced the Club House with the indoor pool. There is an outdoor pool as well, so please come back in the Summer to enjoy the outdoor activities in the area. You won't regret it!!!
The house was nice, clean and as advertised. However, the Owner not only records the front of the house but the hot tub as well. (Unnerving)

We have security cameras, as described on our listing. The camera on the back of the house is far off and only records high pitch noise or loud motions such as water splash. This guest left his kids unattended in the hot tub and they screamed and jumped in it, producing loud noise from the screams and motion noise from the splashing. That's why the security camera recorded. The kids also had a snow fight while in the hot tub which means that debris mixed with the snow ended up in the water and could have clogged the filtration system. Our association has quite hours after 8:30 p.m. but the noise was so loud that a neighbor was disturbed and called to warn us. We could have faced a $500 fine if he had notified our association. Not only the rules for the hot tub use were broken, but also the rules for quite hours. If it weren't for the security camera, this could have cost us more than $10K in damages. All this is documented with VRBO and VRBO can confirm it. Some times, instead of owning up to their own faults, people attack others and create false accusations. (Unnerving)
We went with our young adult children. We went swimming and kayaking 30 min away. We went tubing on the Deerfield River 40 min away. It was a VERY hot weekend. The house was hot, most slept in the basement bedrooms. I would suggest ceiling fans for all the bedrooms. We enjoyed the pool at the clubhouse. Hope to come again in the winter. The restaurants in town were great just get there early as they close by 9. We enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your suggestions Mary! We do have regular fans. Another way to cool the house is to keep all windows and the sliding door open.
We do hope that you will come back in the winter or at any time! Thank you for taking a good care of our cabin!!!
Perfect home base for a ski trip with friends/family
This cabin was a great home base for our group during a New Year's ski trip. It feels much larger once you're inside. The layout is a bit odd, with one of the main bathrooms being through to a main bedroom (which does also have its own beautiful sliding barn door entrance right off the living room), but it worked just fine for us. We enjoyed the coziness of the cabin with the fireplace and the hot tub post-skiing. Everything is labeled so there are never any questions. It was a holiday weekend so getting someone out to clear the snow on the roof and salt the steps wasn't possible, so we did need to be extra careful. This was pre-warned by the host. All was well. Jivka was attentive and even helpful post-stay when something was lost. All-in-all a wonderful weekend. We recommend staying here.
We stayed at the cabin for a week with our older kids and dogs. While the property was nice and the location was great, there were many small surprises that detracted from our overall experience including: not enough towels, a broken drier (the homeowner knew it was “having problems “ previously but hadn’t replaced it), a smaller then expected hot tub, and a freezer more then 3/4 filled with the owners food.
The house is nice but a bit smaller than we would have liked. And the detailed guidelines were a bit excessive. This is a good property for a small group, or for a larger group that plans to be out of the house for most of the time. And renters should read the highly detailed guideline carefully so as not to encounter unwelcome surprises.

Response from VrboOwner on 1 Apr 2020
We are very surprised to read the ridiculous complaints from Lisanne. It appears that she and her group are a high maintenance and ungrateful people.
1. Towels - most hosts charge for providing linens and towels. We provide them free of charge and have 1 towel per guest. For being free of charge, that is all we do. THIS IS STATED ON OUR LISTING (by requesting to book, guests agree to accept what we provide)
2. The dryer - it had problems before, but what these guests experienced was a new issue that the cleaners discovered immediately before Lissane's arrival and we had no time to act. Had they used the public laundromat, we would have payed for it. The issue is resolved now.
3. The Hot Tub - we are not responsible for the guests' expectations for the size of the tub. We do not claim it to be large or small on our listing and these guests never asked for the specific size. Therefore they should have not been surprised by the actual size.
4. Freezer - we do keep food there as we use the property as well. But we provide a smaller freezer in the basement for guests to use if need it. This is stated in our guidelines which Lisanne complained about.
We allowed this group to bring 3 dogs, something that most hosts will not allow. One of our rules for dogs is to be kept off furniture. We were unpleasantly surprised to find dog hair all over the couches and the one in the basement has a cloth cover and it was extremely hard to get the hair off. The cover needed to be washed. Despite of that, we still gave Lizanne a good review since she had none and we did not want her first review to be negative. We also did not charge her damage deposit for the extra cleaning that had to be done because of the dog hair. As you can see, high maintenance and very ungrateful people. We've had groups of 15 people and NO ONE has ever complained that the house is too small (please refer to our reviews). Perhaps the 3 dogs in the same house made it a bit too tight for them. How much space do 6 people need??? After all, there are 2 living rooms and 5 bedrooms. (THIS IS ALSO STATED ON OUR LISTING and it is not our fault that these guests found it smaller than they would have liked it).
As you can see, there is nothing that the guests experienced, that is worth complaining about. Either the listed issues are stated on our listing and the guests agreed to them by booking, or they are just derived by their high maintenance and ungrateful personalities.
We decided to make a 3-family long weekend trip to Mount Snow because we couldn't find any rentals close to Okemo, which is our preferred mountain. I must admit we booked pretty last minute, so pickings were slim. This listing was the only one that would sleep 12 and allowed dogs, so regardless of some questionable reviews, we decided to go for it. I wouldn't recommend this place for 12 people; the kitchen and dining area is rather small and cramped with a large table, so it was a bit claustrophobic for me personally. I think it would be find with only 2 families, but obviously more expensive per family. As the listing mentioned, there are labels.....SO MANY labels. Imagine taking a P-touch and trying to label EVERYTHING in your house - that's the kind of labeling we're talking about. Not a problem at all, we actually joked about it all weekend and many of the labels are very helpful. You should also be "Christian-friendly" if you stay here. If you have anything against Christianity, this might not be the place for you - it's in your face everywhere. Not an issue for us, but wanted others to be aware. As others have mentioned, the outside is under surveillance and the owner will watch the footage to check your headcount, monitor noise in the hot tub, etc. We knew this going in and while it was a little weird, it was not really a problem. In closing, we had a nice stay but we would not come back to this property. We would recommend to others and thank the owner for having us.
I was given a word doc with instructions a couple of days before i arrived. one of the 25 items is to read the white manual with additional instructions when you arrive. There is a ring of wood when you walk in. The house was freezing when i walked in and i took wood from the ring and started a fire. I sent one of my family members to get more wood and he took 4 pieces of wood from the box in front of house not the ring. i got a text immediately. You would think i blew up the house or something. It set the tone for a weekend of stalking. 4 pieces of wood! sorry! i was then called a liar because i didnt know he took the wood from the box, i told him take it from the ring. Then as soon as i get out of the hot tub that evening, i get a text that she doesnt know how i am using the 2 button hot tub without reading the manual? How do you know whether i read it or not? You dont text people as soon as they get out of the hot tub, that is creepy. A two year old could work this tub. My older daughters both left a day early because they were creeped out. Is there cameras in the house too? she told me that she knew we had other couples there, how would she know that? the house sleeps 16, i said i had 8 when i booked it months earlier. my older daughters decided to come so i had 10. It sleeps 16, sorry i didnt think it was a big deal.
Here is the kicker that aggravated me. The entire manual is threats to take you security deposit for nothing like if you leave the outside light on you can lose the deposit. If you open the window, you lose the deposit. i was sweating at night upstairs and we new she would be watching so you didnt dare crack the window. I got charged extra for using an extra bed. she charged me for the sheets. she told me i didnt need to use all the beds with 10 people?? i have two little kids, they slept in different rooms with there sister and then me? i got deducted from my security deposit? Not reasonable at all. I would have a camera too just in case, but to watch 24/7 is creepy and texting asap after just getting there and hot tub is weird. there were cameras everywhere. Ask her to show you the 17 text message form Chuck H before renting here. I can go on, there is no more space. wrecked my trip.

We have wood fee. When this traveler took wood from wrong place I texted him. He denied.I said our security cameras reveal it, he said another guest did it. He hadn’t informed his group about our instructions. I didn’t text him about using the hot tub-we do not have such instructions. Our instructions are how to behave around it–take shower before use, place the cover on table, etc. He admitted that he hadn’t read the instructions for getting around. I asked how does he know what to do with the hot tub. I was not referring to the use of it, rather to above-stated elements. He said his group will read instructions next day after skiing. This confirmed that they were doing things not knowing instructions such as taking a shower before hot tub use, where to find extra blankets, etc. We don’t have cameras inside the house. He said he is coming with wife, daughter and her boyfriend; that is how I knew about the couples. He stated that he has 8 guests. Our security cameras showed10. I asked politely, how many people he brought. He said, as many as I stated. I confronted him about 10. He got angry started calling me names, threatened to write a nasty review-“it is 2020 and that is what people do.” The house can sleep 16, but it is a big deal if 10 stay since there is extra fee. I sent request to pay for the extra people-he denied it. I called Homeaway about the trouble-was advised to withhold money from security deposit. He complains that he couldn’t open a window. The right thing when you are too hot in winter is to lower temps not open window. Who does that? It is obvious that he doesn’t like to obey instructions and isn’t honest. I’ll show his texts-they reveal his outrageous personality. I suggest that potential travelers contact Homeaway regarding this. The conversations are recorded and they’ll confirm everything-I kept them updated from arrival until he left without paying his dues. Everything is documented with Homeaway. I’ll give access to my reviews from other vacation rental websites. All guests face the same instructions. Please note Nik’s review-group of 12 young men. He gave us 5 stars on house rules. 12men had no problem following instructions and left $60 tip. According to this traveler he has been renting around for 25 years. Why hasn’t he established a solid relationship with a landlord so he can return to their house? Perhaps he was doing the same to them-bringing more people, stealing wood, opening window while boosting heat, as he did to us.
Spent time hiking nearby, dining in town & Brattleboro. Loved the cozy comfortable Ed’s of this house.
Enjoy some wine & cheese on deck, then jumped into the hot tub.
Also, had a lovely espresso by the fire pit.
Conveniently located, quiet, clean & comfortable!
A spacious and thoughtfully appointed cabin perfect for families. From the clubhouse access and hot tub to the game room, our entire family loved our stay.
This was a fantastic place to get away and unplug!
Very clean , easy to get to and close enough to the water, little downtown area and Mount Snow, I highly recommend this spot !

About the host
Hosted by Jivka Nenkova
Guest satisfaction and enjoyment of their time here at Heaven On Earth at Chimney Hill Resort are paramount to us. We love to travel and we know how important clean accommodations are - and to that end, we strive. We purchased the house with the intent to provide guests with a spectacular location and clean house, but at lower cost. The famous saying “You get what you paid for” does not apply here. Guests get substantially more than what they paid for.
The house is a rustic cabin decorated as such and is very cozy and welcoming. We have an ABSOLUTELY NO SHOES INSIDE THE HOUSE rule. Feel free to bring slippers. We do not return the security deposit if we note that guests have been going inside with shoes.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property because it is located in a four-season spectacular area. We wanted to provide to our family and extended family a place to go at any time of the year and be able to relax and recharge among beautiful nature. Our dream is to establish a retreat here for those looking for physical, mental, and spiritual rejuvenation. This place, the cabin and the Mountain Snow area, is a perfect setting to do this at any time of the year. The property is very special to us and we love to share it with others who find it special as well!
"Heaven on Earth" at Chimney Hill Resort is placed in the heart of The Green Mountain region. It is also 1 h. 20 min. from Albany NY, 1 h. 20 min. from Monadnock Mountain (the most/second most climbed mountain in the World), 20 min from the closest point in New Hampshire, and the closest point in Canada is about 3.5-4 h . It is a popular destination for tourists from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. It allows you to quickly step into NH and shop "tax-free." It is a very easy, no traffic ride from any point in Massachusetts (we live there). It allows you to make day trips to Albany NY, Springfield and Pittsfield MA area (Berkshire Mountain), Keene NH, Monadnock Mountain in Jaffrey NH, and so much more.
