The cabins were perfect for our retreat! Kelly was an amazing host! She responded no matter the time and was such a resource for anything we needed. Our students and staff enjoyed their experience. The outdoors are breathtaking! The hills are steep so be mindful with your car but it’s the mountains so that’s expected. Locals were very welcoming at every store and trail we visited. The only advice I have is adding outdoor bathrooms/shower to lakeside. Thank you for a great experience!

Thanks so much for the great review! I’m glad the cabins were a good fit for your retreat and that Kelly could help whenever needed. Happy to hear your students and staff enjoyed the outdoors — and thanks for the tip about the steep hills; that’s helpful for future guests. I’ll pass your suggestion about lakeside outdoor bathrooms/showers along to the team for consideration. Hope your group comes back to explore more of the area soon — safe travels!

Great stay for a big group!

Stayed here for a long weekend with a big group of friends. Plenty of room and awesome outdoor/deck space! About a 30 minute drive into Asheville, and the road is gravel and pretty steep getting to the houses. Overall, awesome cabins and perfect getaway for a large group of family or friends.

Blessed

We all had a wonderful time on the property. We enjoy everything. Everything was on time and our host was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed it that we are planning to come back to take another family trip There. I forgot about that.We had a second cabin.I realized that the second night that we was there, lol. So we just slept over there in a couple of the beds, and that was it, but overall, everything was wonderful. I recommend anyone that loves the mountains to go there and next time I will get the second cabin.

Nice Accommodations & Service

Both cabins were exactly as they were described. The cabins were clean and had nice amenities. Unfortunately, there were several things that were broken or didn't work like one shower and sauna. The major issues with the stay was the check-in process. The door code didn't work for one of the cabins and had to spend 30+ minutes on the phone with the property manager before they figured out the correct code.

Overall Great Stay

Both cabins were clean and ready to go when we got there. The host was very quick on responses and gave helpful information that was important to know during the stay. Cabins were spacious and had lots of open space for people to gather in. Outdoor space was great as well. Only a couple of things which could have been better. First, the cabins only have two or three showers in each. With a large group it would have been helpful to have a couple more bathrooms. Second, the hill to get up to the cabins really does require 4WD even without any ice!

Pool table was broke and wobbly, one leg was held up by a 2x4. Very unsafe. For the amount paid you would expect much higher quality in basically everything, but that is not the case here. I have stayed at a lot of places in the area over the years and this one is by far the least appealing especially for the amount charged. Also, they don’t provide firewood and don’t make you aware of that in advance so that you can bring some requiring you to drive miles to find some.

A lot of fun for our large group

We had a large group (20 adults and 5 kids) and it was a great space for us. We stayed at Waterfall and Lakeside. Waterfall has better space for cooking, gathering, and bedrooms. Lakeside has a great pond for fishing and swimming and great views from an awesome porch. We loved the ping pong tables. We went hiking at Sam’s Gap and while the hiking wasn’t great (very woody not great views) but you’re outside and on the App Trail so it’s fun! We ate at Taco Fiesta II and it was good. The driveway was pretty rough the first time until we learned to have better speed as you start up and maintain the speed and you’ll be fine.

I wish I could rate this stay higher. We thoroughly enjoyed the property tucked away in a quiet wooded area with thematic living spaces. However, there were two main downfalls with our stay: layout is unclear from the listing, and there were bed bugs. First, the two cabins do not share the same pond, so guests need to either walk down the incredibly steep driveway or take a 10-minute walk around the ponds. The Lakeside Cabin has two showers which are both located in the ensuite of the two bedrooms, while the people in the Loft area and the Bunk Room in the basement have to shuttle through the bedrooms to share the shower. We traveled with family and were able to make this work, but this information could have been clearer on the listing. There's very little privacy in the Lakeside Cabin with the amount of beds in open space with no door (Loft and Bunk Room) and the limited bathroom access. In the Waterfall Lodge, the Treehouse room has an air mattress and nothing else. We noticed several missing fire alarms. Second, we found bed bugs and, while limited to one person's bed, the host was slow to provide any sort of action and there was no resolution during our stay. After our stay we engaged with several rounds of negotiations, and with the help of Vrbo intervening, we finally reached a resolution. The host was professional while exchanging messages, but we would have expected a bit more urgency on their end. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay here.

Thank you for the detailed review — we really appreciate the candid feedback and are sorry your stay had these issues. We apologize for the confusion about the layout and privacy. The two cabins don’t share the same pond as they're on the same street but not right next to each other. We show this layout in our listing so guests can see where the cabins are located in relation to each other. We had the homes inspected by pest control and found no evidence of bed bugs but we completely understand your concern and appreciate you bringing it to light! We take any report like that seriously. We also reviewed our internal response process to improve speed and communication. We're glad you otherwise enjoyed the quiet, wooded setting and the thematic spaces, and appreciate you letting us know your feedback so we can improve.
