This cottage is a pleasant retreat from the hectic day to day life. No television but pleasant evening music is more than enough. Morning sun is glorious rising through the trees. You are surrounded by ice cream shops, farmers markets, song birds. The town won't let you use their beaches, so the state beach is your best choice. Go and enjoy!
The location was great, an easy walk to the harbor and bike ride to the beach, and convenient to in-town shopping, restaurants and Woods ice cream by car. The outdoor shower was wonderful!
It was a stormy and humid.week and we spent a lot of time indoors. It was a nice little cottage, but would have been much nicer if it were cleaner…we cleaned the screens of dust and cobwebs which made a difference in airflow. We also cleaned the gas grill, which was very dirty, but made the most of it all.
My older children loved the cottage feel and the huge yard for games and just hanging out. We had a few good days at the beach and on the river, and the cottage was in the perfect location. Cleanliness was the only issue…
...steps from a very photogenic waterfront and a quick drive to a beautiful state beach. The historic location is non-commercial, low-key, and offers both privacy and isolation. The accommodation is classic coastal southeastern Massachusetts: relaxed, rustic, unfussy. We enjoyed breakfast in the screened back porch, listening to birds and the breezes that kept the humidity from being oppressive. Plenty of fans in the rental helped with that. Westport Point is ideal for anyone wanting to be left alone and undisturbed; nothing touristy about it. One regret we had is that dogs are forbidden at Horseneck Beach through the April - October season, and finding a place where we could let our pooch enjoy beachcombing was a challenge. Turns out that Gooseberry Neck near Horseneck allows leashed dogs, but parking is very limited so arrival before 9 a.m. in high season is obligatory. Nice thing is it's free, whereas Horseneck charges $20 for a day-pass if you're out-of-state (and, again, no dogs allowed!) The owners of this rental were quick to communicate by email and phone, definitely appreciated. Road work on a nearby bridge was audible on weekdays but it looks as if that project will be completed before the summer of 2019 is over. Overall, a nice hideaway for a couple or a couple with two or three young ones in tow. The outdoor shower helps relieve some of the limitations of the single bathroom in the main building.

Thanks Michael for your comments - they are exactly the way we feel about Westport and that part of the coast and the cottage. It is too bad about dogs - 30 years ago they were much more lenient.
We spent a couple of nights this week at the house and appreciate the good condition in which you left it. We hope you have a good rest of the summer.
Best regards,
Dedee and Bruce Bowers

This place could have been really cute. Instead it was a little bit lacking in the maintenance and cleanliness departments. Overall great location and was happy it was pet friendly for our dog. Enjoyed our stayed but probably will not rent again. I only mean to leave an honest review, negativity is not my purpose. I think all of the rave reviews hyped up the property leading me to have high expectations that weren’t quite met. Fine overall if you are not planning on spending much time indoors. Quaint place with no frills.
The property is in a great location on Westport Point in the historical district. Fabulous old estates dating back to early 1770's. Cottage has lots of yard space. Dog friendly which was a game changer for us. Luckily we had great weather and nights were cool. No AC so hot nights may be tough. Outdoor shower was great. No TV though but that was a good thing. Could use some updates on curtains but otherwise we loved it.
The property was just as described and perfect for my family. Two of my boys stayed in the small cottage or the “she shed” as they called it. It was clean and well stocked with paper goods and kitchen needs. Could not have asked for a better place to spend our week.
Our 2nd year in this magical cottage. Quiet and peaceful. The little cottage in the back is a favorite with our teens. Perfectly situated near all Westport has to offer. Will be back !
The town of Westport Point is very picturesque— and the cottage — rustic and elegant at the same time — provides great access to the town, nearby beach and scenic surrounding communities.
First time renting from Bowers family for 2 weeks on Cunningham Lane in Westport. Cannot. Beat. Location. The house was perfect for our group. We are so glad we connected with this little “gingerbread” home. ;)
Dedee was very welcoming to us. She was easy to communicate with. The location and property is truly beautiful. An easy walk to the wharf at the point and the yard is spacious with chairs and a grill. We had a magical week.
We were looking for a nice, quiet place to relax and unwind and that was exactly what we got. Westport Point is so charming and we loved walking with the dog down to the pier every day. The area is quiet but we had plenty to do. The house had everything we need and was very comfortable. We hope to return!

great location, felt welcomed and at home...check out time was a bit confusing as one place said 10 and another said 11...small in terms of everything else.

My husband grew up coming to the house as a child every summer and introduced me to Westport when I met him in college. We have brought our children and now our grandchildren to this lovely part of New England. From sailing to fishing off the pier to lobster feasts, we enjoy the best of the South Coast of Massachusetts in our quaint summer cottage. We're pleased to offer you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the house and all the area has to offer.
Why they chose this property
My husband's parents built the house as a summer home in the 1930's and we've kept it in the family ever since. With yearly updates and some work, we've been able to update the house with all the modern conveniences.
What makes this property unique
Whether enjoying breakfast on the screened-in porch or playing cards by the fire, you'll fall in love with this cape-style cottage. You'll be a short drive from all the wonders that make Westport such a well-kept secret.
