About this property

Authentic, Rustic, Historic Log Cabin

Sparkling clean and sanitized. Large restored log home located just south of Lexington in historic Richmond, KY. Beautiful private property including picturesque ponds with docks and paddle boats where guest can fish, swim or float. There are horses, opens fields, wooded areas, abundant wildlife, picnic tables, fire pit, fishing ponds and out door grill. The 4200 sq ft home is furnished with treasures from around the world, art, pottery, crystal and some primitive antiques. A rustic style parlor offers a large stone fireplace and a perfectly restored and playable pump organ from the 1800s. The welcoming wrap-around porch was featured in the book Perfect Porches and features porch swings and big hammocks.

You’ll have your own two acres, but still have the convenience of level paved roads in a quiet neighborhood just two miles from the nearest gas and groceries.

The fabulous Red River Gorge is 45 minutes east into the rugged mountains of Kentucky. And 45 minutes North is Keenland, The Horse Park, Lexington and the Blue Grass airport. And The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum is less than 2 hr away in Northern KY.

This rambling handcrafted work of art invites visitors to recall days past when time spent on a porch swing was enlightening, and a stroll around a pond is healing. There’s an enclosed hot tub off the upstairs bedroom that extends into pine trees with an outside entrance onto the back deck. It overlooks the pond and is totally private. The big windows provide beautiful views year-round, perfect sunsets and stars twinkling through the pine boughs at night.

A king sized bed and private bath are on the first level in a very large master bedroom. Off the master bedroom is a separate bedroom with a standard and two twin beds. Up the stairs from there is a queen bed in a room that opens into the hot tub room, a large bathroom with garden tub and washer and dryer. This area also has a stone fireplace with gas logs. Down the hall on the second floor are two more bedrooms. One is large with a queen size bed and record played. The fifth bedroom has a queen size bed with a full view of the pond and private entrance onto the upper deck. There is a bathroom in this area, too.

Also, on this second floor is a balcony room that overlooks the large floor-to-ceiling hand laid stone fireplace. This area has a large comfortable couch and is the perfect spot to escape to read a book.

A unique spiraling staircase leads to the open kitchen on the first floor. The dining room off the kitchen is a one room log cabin with a handmade oak table and woven hickory bottom chairs that seat 12 comfortably.

We had an excellent time! Our host was very accommodating and helpful with any questions we had. The venue had so much space and the porch was amazing with all its seating and porch swings! It wasn’t an issue but I will say the wider set of stairs to go upstairs was located in the master bedroom as well as house entrance into the bedroom with the three beds was thru the master. The pond was fun to fish- the boys caught several larger bass. We enjoyed feeding Sadie and Flag, the horses, apples. We would definitely recommend this space!!

We had a girls trip weekend to the cabin and it was PERFECT! It was so thoughtfully decorated and stocked for whatever we might need and the host was incredibly communicative and thorough with information for the weekend. Don’t forget to bring carrots for the horses!

Our family of 11 found the property pleasant and a nice place to visit. The weather was very hot so we couldn't go outside much to enjoy the outdoor swings and seating. On the other hand, the air conditioning worked very well. The kitchen was equipped with a large electric gridle which we used daily. Thanks to the host for that! And the table with seating for twelve was wonderful. We could all eat and visit together.

This is a lovely, well-kept property with a thoughtful, helpful host. We were sent all the info in advance with instructions for things about the house and things to do around the area. The house itself is warm and welcoming. It was perfect with a dining area big enough for our large group. We would definitely visit again...hopefully in warmer weather so we could enjoy the outside amenities as well!

This was a great place for family and friends got get together. The cabin and grounds were large enough that we did not feel crowded but we always felt like we were together due to the unique layout of the cabin. We really liked the fire pit in the back. We also enjoyed the hot tub on the second floor.

We had a family of 13 who enjoyed a vacation adventure in this lovely log cabin home off the beaten path. The Property is beautiful and relaxing. Just what the family needed to spend time together to reconnect. All the rooms were clean, comfortable beds; a towel set was provided for each person, and the bathroom was stocked with toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash. Lovely atmosphere, and they were decorated as described. The home has lots of seating for a quiet book time or a nap on a comfortable couch. The dining room fit all of us comfortably. The game room and hot tub were used frequently. Plenty of seating outside on the porch with swings & tables, BBQ area, and a fire pit were as described and pictured. The kitchen was nicely stocked, but it needs hot pads/dish towels. We enjoyed having fun in the pond with paddle boats and swimming. Because of the weather, we pulled the paddle boats out of the water onto the deck as requested. This is definitely important.Although there were fishing rods, as stated, they were not ready to use; the lines were either broken or unwound. But it didn't work. The storage bench on the dock was filled with lifejackets ready to wear and a tackle box, yet the box was brittle and broken, and the hooks were rusted, a danger to anyone. This should be checked. This is a lovely place to get away from the city, decompress, take walks, relax, and see the horses. The Host is accommodating, quick to respond, and helpful.

Perfect place for our family to meet for “The Cousin Crew Celebration”. The young ones did not want to leave. Perfect because they love the outdoors, roasting marshmallows, seeing the horses, exploring and having room inside too to play games, do crafts and just enjoying each others company. No one was on their computers or watching TV even though there was plenty of television to use. The only thing is the kids want to come back when it is warmer so they can fish and swim in the pond. Great stay and it was nice to meet the owner too.
Love the sunsets.

Early settlers in KY cut down ancient trees and hand-hewed logs to build one-room log cabins. We built this home using two pioneer cabins and a mule barn. It is a handcrafted work of art that we lovingly created and enhanced. This spring we built a new home using two more old log cabins and moved into it. We wanted to keep our big house intact and available to share. We live just past the barn on the same property and are available to welcome and give tours of the house for guests. Or guests can choose total privacy with no contact. Our first guests left us a glowing review and we are are really happy to think of people experiencing the beauty of our precious home, our farm, fishing ponds and wooded areas.

Why they chose this property

Totally unique! Beautiful historic restored log cabin with picturesque view of pristine pond and filled with treasures. Experience the best of rural Kentucky, enjoy the magnificent home and explore acres of fishing ponds, horses and more.

What makes this property unique

Massive 12 room, 3.5 bath home handcrafted with restored 200 yr old logs Filled with original art, antiques, pottery, crystal and unique items to enjoy. Hot tub, wrap around porches, swings, hammocks, picnic tables, paddle boats, horses, ponds and woods. Settle in and step back in time or use this as your base to travel to the Ky River (9 miles E), Lexington to Keenland Race Track, The Kentucky Horse Park. The Ark Encounter (80 miles N) Red River Gorge is rugged and magnificent for outdoor activities (40 minute drive) And historic craft center Berea is only 20 minutes south.
