Secluded Woodland Retreat on a Quiet Spring-Fed Lake Wildlife Haven – Bald Eagles, Deer & Nature All Around Near Pictured Rocks – Scenic 25-Mile Drive Through Hiawatha Forest
Tucked deep in the woods on a quiet spring-fed lake, Moose Lodge is a peaceful retreat surrounded by wildlife, towering trees, and total privacy. Just a scenic 25-mile drive through the Hiawatha National Forest brings you to Munising and Pictured Rocks. The cabin is located on Cranberry Lake with a sister property nearby, thoughtfully positioned to maintain a peaceful and private setting for both homes.. A wood-burning fireplace, snow-covered trees, and a peaceful lake setting create a cozy winter hideaway worth the ride. You can rent one or both for larger families!
Moose Lodge on Cranberry Lake is everything the Upper Peninsula is known for—peaceful woods, abundant wildlife, and a setting that allows you to truly unplug and relax.
Located on a small, private inland lake just 25 miles from Munising and Pictured Rocks, the drive itself is part of the experience—winding through the scenic beauty of the Hiawatha National Forest.
This beautiful log home offers approximately 1,600 square feet of warm, inviting space designed for comfort and connection. The main living area features a stunning stone wood-burning fireplace, a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances (including a gas range), and a log dining table perfect for gathering after a day outdoors.
The main floor includes a primary bedroom with a queen log bed, as well as a bunk room with twin log bunks—ideal for children or additional guests. A full bathroom and laundry are also located on this level. Sliding glass doors provide views of the peaceful lake and surrounding woods.
Upstairs, the loft offers a cozy sitting area with a log-style couch and an oversized bean bag chair—perfect for reading, relaxing, or unwinding. The third bedroom with a full-size bed and an additional full bathroom are also located on the loft level.
The home comfortably sleeps 6 guests in beds, with space for up to 2 additional guests using an air mattress or couches. Please be sure to enter the correct number of guests when booking so pricing is accurate.
Outside, enjoy a large fire pit and the quiet beauty of the surrounding forest. The lake is ideal for paddling, fishing, and enjoying nature from the dock. Please note this is not a traditional swimming lake, as there is no beach and the lake bottom is soft and natural.
Cranberry Lake is a quiet, spring-fed inland lake known for its clear water and peaceful, natural setting. Guests can enjoy casual fishing for northern pike, yellow perch, and panfish such as bluegill from the dock or a small boat. Included is a 14' fishing boat (two bench seats), a canoe and paddles, anchor, oars, and life vests provided for guest use. Whether you're casting a line, paddling the shoreline, or simply taking in the peaceful surroundings, the lake offers a true Northwoods experience. You are welcome to bring along a small motor or electric motor. Bring your own kayaks.
For winter guests, snowmobile trail access is nearby, with the trailhead approximately 4 miles from the property. Riders can access the trail via wide ditch riding along County Road 440.
The garage is available for parking or working on sleds in the winter, and there is ample space for large trailers.
Moose Lodge shares the property with a nearby sister cabin, thoughtfully positioned with wooded surroundings to maintain a quiet and private setting. If you have 12 to 16 guess you might enjoy renting both cabins.

Thank you for hosting us! We really enjoyed our stay here while visiting Pictured Rocks. It was just what we were looking for, away from the hustle and bustle of everything in a beautiful, peaceful setting by a lake. The cabin had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The kids loved hanging out in the loft. My favorite part was watching the beautiful sunsets from the dock. Hope to visit again!
The cabin was cozy and perfect for our family of 4. The host was amazing and very accommodating. The snowmobile trails were easily accessible from the cabin. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
The cabin is gorgeous. Host our amazing, the grill wasn't working and they brought a new grill out the next day. Just wish the beds were a little softer. Can't go wrong with this cabin.
We couldn't be happier with our stay. We wanted to be off the beaten path, and we definitely got that. The cabin and property are beautiful and clean. The property owner is nice and attentive.
We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful cabin in woods! The cabin had everything we needed and the little lake and canoe made it extra special. We had great wi-fi and the layout was perfect for two adults and three teenagers…space for everyone!
Super clean cottage!!!! We had 5 people and it was more than enough room! Lisa was very communicative, check in/out was easy and the price was reasonable! Great time!
Amazing spacious and clean cabin in the woods with dock out to the lake. Beautiful sunsets each evening. The cabin has everything you will ever need!

We wanted to experience the log cabin getaway and decided on this central U.P. location. I'm glad we did, the host provided everything we needed for an enjoyable stay and sent a PDF with very detailed information including directions to find this remote cabin on cranberry lake. Our family of 4 had plenty of room and privacy for the girls. Very happy with the host and our stay.
Spent the week snowmobiling. The cabin was a wonderful place to come back to each night. Check in was easy, plenty of parking, not far from trails. Plenty of room for our group of 6.

We are so grateful for your 5-star review. Thanks for sharing your rating with us and future guests!
Loved the location, ambiance is great log cabin feel, very remote and pretty. Only issue was says sleeps eight and really only sleeps 6 comfortably but seven with a cot. Definitely need an air mattress for eight. Beautiful property! Great people to deal with. Loved our stay!
We enjoyed your cabin very much. Very cute and cozy.
Internet was not too stable - but that's the reason we find your place perfect for enjoying the serenity of nature.
The owners were great! :) Thank you for your hospitality.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a 5 star rating - it's much appreciated!
Unfortunately, this was one of the worst vacation rental experiences we've had.The cabin appears to have serious maintenance issues that should be addressed before it's rented to more guests. There was a persistent damp, musty odor throughout the cabin, what appeared to be mold concerns in the crawlspace, a raw sewage smell coming from the bathroom, and a plumbing leak from the upstairs bathroom that dripped onto a bed while children were sleeping. I documented these issues with photos. The outside wasn't much better. The property was overwhelmed with biting flies, an incredible number of mosquitoes, and ticks, making it nearly impossible to enjoy being outdoors. To make matters worse, after our stay we were hit with additional cleaning charges that were never made clear beforehand. We left the cabin in reasonable condition and felt like the host was looking for reasons to charge extra. Between the excessive post-rental paperwork and surprise fees, it felt more like we were being treated as suspects than paying guests. The cabin itself is also extremely dated. The furnishings, television, and overall condition make it feel neglected rather than rustic or charming. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of cabins in northern Michigan that are better maintained, more transparent with their fees, and provide a much more enjoyable experience. Based on our experience, I would not stay here again.

This review is unfortunate and appears retaliatory based on the timeline of events, coming only after the guest was charged for the extraordinary condition in which the property was left. This was not a typical departure cleaning. Restoring the cabin for our next arriving guests required substantially more labor than a normal turnover.
During the stay, we checked in to ensure everything was going well, and the guest responded, "Excellent, thank you for asking." On the day of departure, the guest also wrote, "Very lovely place. Really enjoyed it." None of the concerns described in this review were reported during the stay or at checkout, despite our communication and the opportunity to bring them to our attention.
Upon arrival, cleaning immediately began documenting the condition of the property with photographs and requested additional assistance due to the amount of work required. Extensive trash and food debris were found throughout the cabin, garage and grounds, food was smashed into floors and other surfaces, there was an extraordinary amount of laundry, including clean bedding and blankets that had been removed from closet shelves and left on the floors, requiring laundering before the next guests could use them. Additional conditions included vomit on bedding, damaged curtain rods, fireworks debris scattered throughout the property and waterfront, and burn marks on the dock and inside the boat after fireworks were discharged from the cabin deck and boat without permission. These conditions were documented with photographs and written statements.
No concerns similar to those raised in this review had ever been reported prior to this stay, nor have they been reported by subsequent guests. We take guest concerns seriously and investigate every concern brought to our attention. Following this stay, the property was inspected, prepared for the next guests, and no such concerns were reported.
Moose Cabin has many loyal repeat guests, including families who return year after year, with some staying for two weeks each fall. We encourage prospective guests to read our many 10/10 reviews, which accurately reflect the experience our guests have enjoyed at Moose Cabin over the years.
For snowmobiling- I was looking for a place that had access to everything I needed, but was also off the beaten path. The house is exactly as described and therefore I had everything I needed. Thanks again!

Clean and comfortable cabin in pristine wilderness
We had a small family gathering at this clean and comfortable cabin. We were constantly on the dock, fishing and watching wildlife. Beautiful location on a very private, quiet, and rural neighborhood. We canoed to see the beaver huts, grilled fresh fish, and played games into the night. The cabin is tucked away, but a short drive to town. Don't forget to do a boat tour in Munising or go swimming at nearby Pete's Lake. A great place to stay and experience Michigan's upper peninsula in all it's glory!

The cabin was beautiful as pictured. Great location to explore the Pictured Rocks area. After a day of kayaking and hiking it was awesome to come home to such a beautiful spot. Sitting on the dock at night was amazing. The stars were phenomenal. The home owner checked in a couple times but was not needed. Everything was in order.
If I have any suggestions - it’s probably time to upgrade the mattresses
Property was easy to locate, short distance from Munising, and clean. Vacationed with my wife and 2 children ages 12 and 14. Cabin was much more spacious then I thought it would be. Everything was clean and in order. The host, Lisa, had a folder with info about the cabin and surrounding attractions and left us a great welcome basket with local jams, chocolates, and fresh bread. My son and I enjoyed the available canoe and fishing for perch and sunfish in Lake Cranberry. It was a great home base for all that the area has to offer.
