About this property

Rent our beautiful 1917 home in historic Crocus Hill

Our beautiful 1917 home has four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, two home offices, updated kitchen and a spacious, shaded backyard. House comes with laundry and garage, as well as ample street parking. Located in historic Crocus Hill–home to F. Scott Fitzgerald and the Governor’s Mansion–you will be a short walk to restaurants, coffee shops, drug stores, grocery stores, playgrounds, etc. or an easy bike ride to colleges and universities, the river and more.

Vaulted ceiling and skylights make the third floor primary bedroom feel like a secret hideaway. The en suite bathroom has a clawfoot tub and shower. The second floor features three more bedrooms–or two bedrooms and a TV room–plus another full bathroom and a home office with lots of natural light and front and back views.

Living room with cozy gas fireplace and historic marble mantel opens into a welcoming dining room with original wood built in and a view onto the backyard. The eat-in kitchen has banquette seating/breakfast nook, dishwasher and oven with induction stove. A second office–beautifully lit, thanks to French doors on three sides–opens off the living room.

Original hardwood floors, in good condition, throughout the house, including the kitchen. Mini-split air conditioners on all three floors double as heaters in the shoulder season; a full radiator system provides heat in colder weather.

Washer and dryer in the full basement, along with additional bathroom. Garage at the back of the yard.

The fenced back yard has a lovely secluded patio area for meals or hanging out and is shaded by an enormous elm tree.

Three blocks to Grand Avenue with stores, restaurants, bakery and coffee.
Nearby grocery stores include Mississippi Co-op, Trader Joes, and Kowalskis.

Well-located for colleges and universities:
-Mitchell-Hamline Law School: less than a mile
-Macalester College: ~2 miles
-Hamline University, St. Catherine’s University, University of St. Thomas: 3 miles
-University of Minnesota (East Bank and West Bank): 6.5 miles
