The property was just as described and the quiet stay is exactly what we desired. Not much better than watching the sunset over St. Albans bay and the Lake Champlain area. The lake house location is well located for our exploration of northern Vermont. Would definitely consider returning in the future.

We had a wonderful stay on Lake Champlain in St. Albans! Very peaceful and quiet location. The weather cooperated some so we were able to enjoy relaxing on the deck watching the spectacular sunset and well as the morning moon set. We also enjoyed many games of pool. The table is very good condition. A fantastic getaway!

Had a great week on Lake Champlain. Location of the house was excellent for us. Quiet, great places to walk, close to restaurants and small shops (short drive). The house was very comfortable, clean and well stocked. We loved the deck.

Perfect!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed The Lakehouse. It was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It rained the first couple of days, and we still enjoyed watching the lake. Then the sun came out, and we saw why everyone mentions the beautiful view. The lake sparkled and a family of ducks swam by to greet us. We would definitely stay at The Lakehouse again.

Lake House Review

This was our second stay at Lake House. This visit was just as spectacular as the first, The house has everything needed in a beautiful setting. Gene and Kyle are very accommodating and took care of the one minor glitch we experienced quickly.

Great Location

The house was very clean and well provisioned. The sunsets off the deck were spectacular. Never having visited Vermont before we were happy with the location. The mountains, Burlington, and the Lake Champlain Islands were all within short drives. Beautiful area!

Location, comfort, convenience

Rainy days found us happy to remain at the house simply relaxing and reading. St. Alban’s Bay Park is a quick walk; Burton Island State park and Kilcare State Park are also nearby. All of our needs were met& questions answered: comfortable bed, incomparable views, proximity to St. Albans with its shops and bookstore, a Rail Trail and so much more! Procedural concerns were addressed within a short time frame.

Lovely

Upon arrival the house was extremely clean. The view of the water was beautiful. The hot water from the sinks and the shower smelled pretty strongly like rotten eggs for the first day, but seemed to dicipate by the second day. We brought our own cleaning supplies but the house seemed to be very well stocked on its own. Overall it was a great experience and we enjoyed our stay.

February Ice Fishing Getaway

My wife, and I enjoyed a relaxing vacation with our dog at this very nice lakefront property. It really does not get any closer to the lake than this. We were able to walk right down the few stairs of the property to the lake front. The home has rustic "looking" gas fireplaces that kept us nice and warm on even the coldest of days (-12)!!! The deck also had fantastic sunset views! The home has a great location for the lake and St. Albans. and the owner Gene was very responsive and helpful to our questions prior to the trip. We look forward to another visit in the future.

Perfect Lake House

This was the second time we have stayed here and we will definitely be back. The house is exactly as advertised and the location and the views from the deck are beautiful. The neighborhood is quiet and the people nearby are very nice. Anything we needed in town was a 5 minute drive or bike ride away. The public boat ramp is just across the bay and the dock here at the house was perfect to get on and off the small boat we brought. St Albans Bay is small enough that it is protected from the larger waves and heavier winds of the open lake but big enough that the water isn’t stagnant or full of algae and plants. We spent most of our time up here just swimming at the house. Highly Recommend!

Perfect vacation house

This home was the perfect vacation home for me and my husband. The house is well equipped with everything one would need, the waterfront is beautiful (even better than the photos!) and the fishing on the bay is great for largemouth bass. We were able to bring our boat, enjoy phenomenal sunsets, cook and grill some great meals and eat them outside on the deck which is virtually over the water - can't get much closer then this! We would come back here in a heartbeat, and really hope we have the opportunity to do so in the future! Also, to note, my husband has severe allergies to dogs and dust and this house is kept very very clean, so he didn't have any issues. The owners of the home are very responsive and easy to make arrangements with.

The view!

We’re driving home from a lovely 6 night stay in St. Albans. We went for the biking, hiking and sight-seeing in and around Burlington and wanted a quiet base to come “home” to in the evening—something with a view. The clean and comfortable cottage has everything you need including a kitchen that has utensils for those who actually cook, a large deck with a gas grill, and even a pool table in case you have a rainy day. It reminded us of staying in a friend’s lake house. And the view.....aaaahhhh.....it was glorious. We couldn’t bear to go out to dinner because we wanted to just soak it in every evening until the sunset and then, we’d go out and look at the night sky. Just beautiful!

Magnificent Sunsets

This quint little cottage sits right on St. Albans Bay overlooking beautiful lake Champlain. As soon as we arrived we wasted no time swimming in the lake right off the dock, the water was perfect. That evening we were able to enjoy fire works right over the bay from our deck, it was a lovely way to kick start our vacation. There are so many things to see and do here, we took a day trip to Montreal, which is a little over a 1 hour drive. We highly recommend Ausable Chasm in Keeseville, NY, known as the Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks, we hiked on the trails through waterfalls and then rafted the rest of the way. There are plenty of places to rent a boat, we rented a pontoon for the day to check out the rest of this beautiful lake. St. Albans is not far from Burlington, which is right on the lake with lovely restaurants and shops, we ate at Splash at the Boathouse and the food was fantastic! There is also a a beautiful park 2 minutes from the house where we took our dog for a walk and then enjoyed a "creemee" at the ice cream store across the street. This cottage was well stocked with condiments, there is a washer and dryer and plenty of laundry detergent. It has a beautiful grill on the deck that we used several times for dinner. The owner is very nice and called us back immediately when we had a question. One suggestion is perhaps put in a small AC unit, the main area of the house can get quite warm in the afternoon, but sleeping conditions were fine and both bedrooms stayed cool with ceiling fans as well as the mattresses being very comfortable, the mattress on the pullout sofas however, have seen better days. So if you are looking for a lovely cottage on a beautiful lake with magnificent sunsets to enjoy with your family then we suggest you look here! Thank you Gene!

Gene and Marilyn Sink are retired VT school teachers who now live on Cape Cod.

Why they chose this property

We built this place after tearing down a camp built in the 1930's that was beyond saving. Having spent the last 25 yrs on the lake we want to share this special spot with others who appreciate the lake and the mountains. The living room and deck have unforgettable sunsets and lake views. It is private and quiet while near the small city of St Albans, VT. Burlington is 30 minutes away and major ski areas are less than an hour from this location.

What makes this property unique

This property has spectacular views and direct lake access.
