Architecturally unique layout, a spectacular and immaculate. Whales fronting the home, normally Nov to March is a sight to see.

Situated at the tip of Kaloli point, only 16 miles from Hilo Town, yet in a world of its own. Views from the home all the way down to the kapoho coastline, the most spectacular view you will find. beautiful lawn between the home and the ocean, with sitting areas and outdoor dining. The Wow factor is definitely here.

Great central location in proximity to Volcano viewing, Volcano park, Hilo town, farmers markets, swimming and snorkeling areas.

2brm 2bth with queen size beds and additional futon, can sleep up to 5.

Perfect stay in paradise!

I can’t say enough good things about the property. Very clean, the location is breathtaking, the furnishings are comfortable and plentiful. Home was large enough for to couple to be together but not be on top of each other. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. We definitely look for this property for our next visit.

Hawaii the beatiful

Great property with gorgeous ocean front location. Spacious living areas and bedrooms, very comfortable and very clean. 1960 style is quite funky and very suited to Hawaii. Loved it.

Great getaway!

This property was amazing! It's a bit of an adventure to get there, especially if you arrive in the dark, but worth the ride. We all enjoyed watching the waves and listening to them crashing all night. The house was clean and lovely, with a nice little garden full of avocados, peppers, kumquats and limes - as well as geckos and giant snails. We had a lovely, relaxing time, and Terry responded quickly to the few questions we had.

Amazing place to stay

The house was amazing, everything we needed and more. The view was amazing, including dolphins one morning and a sea turtle our last morning. Even discovered there is a sea arch on the last day as well. We thought this was a once in a lifetime trip, we know now it wasn't and plan on future trips.

Great Views, spacious room

Open concept space, lots of room, amenities (laundry soap etc) are welcomed. No air conditioning but plenty of fans.

Heaven on Hawaii

What a beautiful property! We so enjoyed our time on the Big Island and at Uli Kai Hale. The property is first class with everything you could possibly need. Having coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening with the view is absolutely incredible. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We will be returning for the migration of the whales soon! We had a great time at the house. It was a nice set up for a family of four. The house is not far from anything on the east side. It takes longer to get out of the neighborhood than to get to Hilo or Pahoa. Be prepared for the frogs - they are tiny but mighty!

Are you ready for a magical experience?

When I first rented this vacation home I knew it was going to be special. It exceeded all my expectations. The house and property are stunning. I saw turtles and porpoises on several occasions. The house was spotless and I enjoyed all the different areas in the house that you could enjoy the view. In addition to all the popular sights that this area is known for, there are as many cool cultural events taking place at any given time. Check them out! Two of the best farmers markets are also convenient. Hilo on Wednesdays and Saturdays and Makuu Market on Sundays. Enjoy! Aloha!

From Cactus to Coast

This is the second time we've stayed here. We come to enjoy the Merrie Monarch Festival. Keaau is a perfect setting to enjoy this side of the Island. The home has everything including the perfect setting. It is a little far away from Hilo but that much closer to Pahoa which a very special little town.

Very beautiful stay off the beaten path!!

Pros: Beautiful views right on the eastern Pacific. The sunrise every AM was amazing with breakfast. Nice open floor plan in kitchen and living area with a nice master suite. The 2nd bedroom was also nice and the mattresses are comfortable if you like a medium-firm mattress. Off the beaten path(plus or minus depending on your taste) Closest grocery and gas is about a 15 minute drive away in Keaau. Downtown Hilo/Airport is 40+minutes(50 or so during the week with school buses and work commuters). Volcano National Park is 45 minutes away. Black sand beach about 60 minutes Green sand beach is about 2 hours plus the 2.5 mile walk you have to make(totally worth it!!). Beautiful sounds of frogs and the ocean will put you to sleep every night. Cons: Showers are all open/ walk-in style so it does get a bit drafty with AM showers. No central air(which is not common in Hawaii residents) But opening the sliding doors lets in a great ocean breeze and you will get a little chilly from it at night. Some of the handles on pots and pans were loose. Garbage disposal did not work, they did leave a note though, No trash can in the kitchen. Bottom line if you want a beautiful house with a gorgeous view off the beaten path in Eastern Big Island, I cant think of better place to stay. We would definitely stay again.

Absolutely stunning home!

We are still in awe with this amazing property. Comfortable, clean, mind blowing views. From the moment we walked through the front door we knew we never want to leave. The view from the living room window is incredible. We spent hours listening to the crash of the waves onto the lava in the backyard. We promise to recommend this home to everyone - and we will be back

Great location

Our second time staying at Uli Kai Hale. The location is perfect for exploring the east coast of the Big Island and has easy access to Hilo for dinning out. Coffee every morning watching the sunrise as the waves crash into the cliffs, turtles and whales are easy to spot. The house is very well equipped and has a great layout, this is a special place and we will return again.

A peaceful, beautiful home on the water

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (two couples). The house is drop dead gorgeous and the view from the yard is off the charts. The house was immaculate, well furnished, and beautifully decorated. The architecture is quirky and fun. Our compliments to the owner. And our thanks to the property manager. To future visitors, keep in mind that this house is not really near anything. It is in a suburb of Hilo and everything is a bit of a drive. Still, we found this appealing, especially curling up with a book during the typical Hilo rain dump and just watching the ocean crash against the cliffs in front of the house. Mahalo Uli Kai Hale!

Wow..... the first view just invites you in, then the stunning ocean view captivates, and I could feel my body relax. This was an amazing property! The owner had all that was needed and more, instructions how to work things and a guide to local activities. We would highly recommend Uli Kai Hale, and greatly appreciate Terry sharing it with us.

Relaxing.

We highly recommend this home, it is very quiet and relaxing, clean, homey and in a perfect neighborhood where your neighbors are quiet and friendly; they wave at you as you drive by! We love that's it gives you a refreshing feeling, with a picture perfect view of the ocean, and the relaxing sound of the waves splashing against the banks, birds chirping with a cool breeze from the ocean. We would rent this place again!

A memorable stay and home

The home was beautiful with a great Ocean View. Nearly everything we needed was available during our stay. The oceanfront view was great. During low-tide we were able to view numerous Sea Turtles swimming in the waters off our shoreline. The unfortunate destruction caused by the continuing lava flow did make for an unusual glowing night sky. We felt safely far away from the lava flow, but close enough to see the sky light up at night. The only negative is by going during the slightly warmer part of the year there was no air-condition like many warm climate island areas. Plenty of fans to help and would still recommend and come back. A very enjoyable stay and everyone was great to work with.

Beautiful house close the Hilo and very safe

Views were amazing from almost every window in the house . Really great layout and beds were so comfy!!! Close to Hilo, we used it as a base to go everywhere on the island. At night you look across the bay and see the sky light up because of the volcano- nothing we’ve ever seen before!!!

The Uli Kai is so wonderful - tucked into the coastline in a quiet little community. Very peaceful. The gecko's are too cute - little house buddies guarding the place. The other little lizards outside on the rocks and back deck - fun to watch! The pounding surf on the cliffs sang us to sleep every night, as did the coqui's. Downtown Hilo is wonderful - the shops and market booths abundant with trinkets and yummy foods. We watched fissure 8 glowing every night and even glimpsed some of the taller fountains. We did Ride the Rims at Waipi'o Valley and what a trip!! ATV'ing at its finest - rain, mud puddles, and misty views 1400 feet below. We are smitten and will return as often as we are able to. The Big Island is a gem. Thank you for sharing your precious home with us and thanks to Pelee for being bigger than anyone else and reminding us of that fact. Again, mahalo!
