The Condo was really lovely. There were 4 of us and the accommodations fit perfectly for our needs. Very clean. Well appointed amenities throughout. We enjoyed the outstanding view from great room and that our little dog was part of the experience. Great family time at the place.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. Check-in was easy. There is a two car garage (tandem) which was great for parking and unpacking. This is a tall property with lots of stairs. The kitchen has nice appliances and is well stocked with good quality dishware and utensils. Comfortable living and dining area with a fantastic view of downtown and Columbia River! Bedrooms are comfortable. Bathrooms are ok. Location is perfect and is walking distance to all that Hood River has to offer!

Thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed your stay. The view is the reward for the stairs!
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was close enough to downtown to walk and it was wonderful to have a garage. The house was very large and well maintained. Thanks so much!
Great house within walking distance of everything.
We loved having family dinners looking over the river, and the garage was amazing for so many water toys.
House has a lot of stairs—great for getting exercise!
Great location- close to restaurants, coffee, pubs and shops. Amazing view! Comfortable beds. Awesome kitchen and deck. Lots of stairs if guests have mobility issues- but great leg work out for this group. Thanks for allowing dogs.:)
The property was as advertised and just what we were looking for. Views of the gorge and WA hills from the primary bedroom and the top floor. Great location. Enough space to have some room to spread out. Great kitchen to practice some new recipes.
Clean, contemporary well-equipped townhome within a few blocks to downtown. Must be able to manage lots of stairs due to main living space on 3rd level.

Fantastic modern condo with views, minutes from restaurants and shops on Oak Street
Fantastic rental in the heart of Hood River, easy walk to shops and eats on Oak Street. Clean, modern, well appointed for cooking and eating in, comfortable with room to easily sleep 5, and a fantastic oversized garage to accommodate the many oversized toys you may bring for outdoor adventuring in the Gorge. Our only negative was that we hadn't heard back from the owners after the confirmation e-mail and didn't get the access information until after 4 pm on our arrival date.

It was totally my bad that I didn't get the access code to you until 4:07PM for a 4PM check-in. We change the code frequently so don't send it out too far in advance.
Nice space. Very uneven AC among the 3 floors. Stocked well with appliances, although some didn’t function well. Lacked adequate supplies of toilet paper and paper towels. No dishwasher soap there at all. Gorgeous view of River and beyond.

I wish we had heard some of your concerns during your stay.
The heat/ac registers are all adjustable. The lower, garage floor is not served by HVAC. Closing some of the downstairs ones would have forced more air up. There is/was a bucket of dishwasher tablets under the sink next to the dishwasher.
We do indeed, limit the amount of paper product we put out because it has a bad habit of walking off if too much is left out. I could have given you access to the locked supplies if you went through more than we would usually expect.
I can't comment on the appliances though they have all been in working order and I have not heard anything from any other guests (other than someone appears to have turned off the ice maker as it said not to be working but was full of ice when I arrived to work on).
The space was lovely & we really enjoyed our time. However the check out process too is HOURS as we are expected to wash ALL towels, linens, bedding & take away all trash to the street (oh and asked to sort the cans & bottles so their son could make money). Personally don’t understand why we are paying a cleaning fee & sending hours on chores on vacation. Never had experienced that on a rental.

Thank you for the feedback and I totally hear what you are saying. It's hard to find the balance. We're not a hotel and are the only unit in the complex that is truly Vacation Rental By Owner- the rest have property managers. There are pros and cons: they have cleaning crews and we have a single person. Some of those units charge more than double our cleaning fee. Ask guest to do less and charge more or vice versa? The checkout instructions are a in the rental agreement pre-booking.
I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay.

Great location, beautiful accommodations
We enjoyed our stay at the townhouse. Modern, bright and beautiful! Everything we needed was readily available and the space was great for our group of five friends. And the location let us walk to shopping and dining downtown. Weather was hot, and when we arrived the townhouse was nice and cool. On our second day, however, it seemed the AC had stopped working. We fussed with the thermostat for a bit, to no avail. We also were disappointed with the cleanliness of the townhouse, so much so that I ended up cleaning the kitchen floor and we got Clorox wipes to clean the bathrooms ourselves before using. Still, we enjoyed our stay and the views and location made it a great weekend get-away.

Thanks for the feedback. We will pass the cleanliness comments on to our house keeper and make sure that there is the proper diligence there.
Regarding the AC. It's frustrating to see the first notification of an issue post-stay in a review. All of our contact information is in the unit. When the next renters checked in the day you checked out, they let us know the AC wasn't on and in less than five minutes we had troubleshooted the problem to get it restarted. We'd always encourage guests to let us know if something isn't working or doesn't seem right at the time.

Nice place but not the best experience
We spent 8 nights in this town home over Easter visiting from Australia. The condo is nice, close to town, beautiful views. However, it was not the best experience overall. First, soon after making the initial reservation, I realised I had my days wrong and asked to amend the reservation to begin a day earlier. The owner said "No problem" and he would fix up the reservation. When it came time to make the final payment a few months later, I noticed the original dates were still listed. When I inquired, the owner said that he was on his phone, not computer, when he said he would change the reservation. Huh? He hadn't changed the dates and had booked the night to someone else. There was no apology or graciousness, just the statement that I was "correct" that we could not arrive on the day we had previously agreed. This was an expensive mistake for us as we had to book hotel rooms in Portland due to this mistake. Hey - mistakes get made and we would have been happy with a simple "I'm sorry," but that didn't happen and was disappointing. The day before we arrived, I still had not received info about how to get into the unit. When I emailed the owner, I was again greeted with a curt response - that I should have received an email from VRBO with that info. (I didn't and we rented from Homestay.com.au?). He eventually followed with another curt message containing a garage code, but again we did not feel very welcome. When we arrived, the house was moderately clean. We love dogs and have our own, but didn't enjoy sweeping up the dog hairs from the previous guests or the pet smell. The house was very not well appointed in some areas. No extra toilet paper other than what was on the rolls, no bottle opener, wine opener that didn't work. These things are all kind of important on holiday!

We always want everyone to have the best experience possible and I am sorry that you did not. There are multiple bottle openers (the door key is on one) and there are two wine openers. We have talked to the cleaner about your other concerns and she is going to work on it. There are stacks of extra paper products in the garage. With a call or text any of your issues could have been resolved.
As far as the check-in date goes, "I'm sorry" are the first words of my reply. I messed up and owned it so saying that I didn't apologize is simply not accurate.
It's good feedback to take to heart,
Charles
Great views from centrally located Hood River townhome
Really enjoyed this modern well kept town home in Hood River. Main living area with beautiful view of Columbia River and surrounding hills. Lots of steps in house and to various locations downtown—bring your walking shoes. Convenient garage parking. Would definitely recommend. Responsive owners
Just completed our stay in this stylish space. It's so well-designed, in fact, that we treated it with appreciative care. Parking the car then walking to all the groovy HR offerings was easy. And we like easy. Timely VRBO notifications were helpful. They really don't leave you hanging re details like address & door codes.

About the host
Hosted by Charles & Jenny Turner
We live in Portland and both sell residential real estate for a living. We self manage two rental properties and this vacation home. We met at Lewis & Clark College in Portland and have a nine year old son. We have a dog and your well behaved canine is welcome as well.
Why they chose this property
We had some specific criteria when looking for our vacation home: it was close enough to Portland that it wouldn't be an event getting there, it was close enough to shops and restaurants that we wouldn't need a car when we arrived, and that it had good access everything the Columbia River Gorge has to offer. This does all of that and more.
We are confident you'll love it as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
There's not a lot of property in the Hood River core in general and even less with this level of quality. We love the clean lines and finishes. You can't get the quality of view anywhere else this close to shops and restaurants.
The massive garage is unique to the complex allows unpacking (and drying out) all that recreational gear.
