Lake Sunapee- above it all, High-up Hideaway! Lake Swim Ski Hike- ALL Year FUN

Access to private community acreage on Lake Sunapee is a short walk downhill and includes a large dock for relaxing with steps to sandy beach- bring a book, lunch, or your kayaks/ SUPs / floats. There are many hiking trails, close to the Fells, and less than 2 miles from Mt Sunapee skiing- this is the perfect getaway for any season. The living room is cozy and is open to the kitchen and dining room. This home can accommodate a party of up to 8 with 4 bedrooms/ 2 Baths (2nd floor with: large Master Bedroom with a King Bed, 2 Full Beds room, and a Bath with stand-up shower; 1st floor with: 1 Queen room, 2 twins room and a bath with tub/ shower). There is Wifi and there are board games, as well as a fire pit for evening relaxation. Get away from it all, high up above Lake Sunapee in a chalet for family and friends to gather and make memories!
Mount Sunapee is 1.5 miles away and the Mountain always has events going on at the base lodge. You can check the calendar of events on their website to see if there is a concert, 5k mudrucker race, lobster bakes, or craftsmen fair going on during your planned stay. In the winter the Mountain offers fantastic skiing with terrain parks, challenging slopes, the new acro bag, and even winter ziplining. In the summer there is also a range of activities available at the Mountain. They offer Ziplining, off road Segway Tours, Frisbee golf, miniature golf, and more.
The views from the dock on Lake Sunapee are amazing and you could walk down and enjoy them anytime. It was an amazing night when we walked down with flashlights and watched all the shooting stars crossing the night sky. With little surrounding light the night sky can be fascinating and the kids absolutely loved seeing it.
The Fells historic home and gardens are very close by and in the summer they are a must see. The home brings you back to earlier times and the gardens are beautiful and have trails for you to hike down to the shores of Lake Sunapee.
If you are a more avid hiker there are trails all around this home that range from easy walks to more challenging climbs. The moderate hike up to sunset hill is enjoyable and can be attempted by anyone. One of the more challenging hikes is the Summit Trail that takes you from the parking lot of the ski mountain to its peak and if you want to extend that hike it connects to a trail that continues on to Kearsarge Mountain. Sorry- no boats or motorized water sports from our dock.

Beautiful views from the deck! We spent the nights out there while the kiddos were sleeping. I was nervous about mosquitoes but I’m not sure if it was bc the deck was so high up we never had an issue! Huge plus. We spent most of our time on the dock fishing and just taking in the gorgeous view. The owners were super helpful and accommodating. Thanks again.
We had a lovely stay as the house was very close to my family who live in Newbury so it was convenient for visiting. The house is comfortable and in a peaceful forested area. One recommendation I would make if possible is to install a thermostat that can be controlled remotely. We arrived late at night on a very cold night and the house took a long time to warm up.

To many steps
The house was clean and well equipped. However the climb from the parking area up to the house should be made clear (34 steps). Then there’s the hike to and from the dock. It’s a very steep incline to get to the water. Unless you use a stairclimber and are under 55 I’d look for something else.
I was there with siblings all 65+. It was difficult on interior and exterior chairs not having handrails; especially with luggage.
Someone needs to check the light bulbs as there were a number out.
The coffee maker needs to be updated from standard drip to Kuerig.

Extreme Inclines Curtailed Family Fun
While the property was lovely and comfortable with all the amenities we needed as a family. We were disappointed in the physical location and the unexpected terrain. The property has no clear view of the water and feel more like a treehouse than a lake front rental. The wooden steps up to the house are many and very slippery in the rain, for anyone with mobility issues this would be a problem. Finally, access to the lake front includes an extreme incline, making trips with water equipment and supplies incredibly difficult and involved. The area does have some good restaurants and activities but there is a weekend warrior rather than vacation land vibe.

Would love to come back
My friends and I had great time staying at the Sunapee house. All ten of us had a comfortable place to sleep. The amenities were all very nice. The washer/dryer was definitely a plus, as well as the full kitchen with a dishwasher. The wood burning fireplace was also a very nice touch. You can tell the space is brand new.
The location was perfect. We skied a few days at Mount Sunapee, which was only a 7 minute drive away. So convenient! The house was very easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. The property is private and has nice view of the lake. I image it would be a great vacation destination in the warm weather.
The owner of the property was very accommodating and responsive to any questions or concerns we had before and during our stay. The rental process was very easy. My only suggestion would be to provide more towels, toilet paper, and paper towels for guests. It would also be great to have some board games.
Thanks for letting us stay!

I am glad you and your friends had a fun time in the Sunapee area. Thank you for your input. I will look into putting more towels and paper goods in the house for future rentals. Skiing Sunapee is a blast but please come back and stay with us during the summer. Lake Sunapee is a great time too.
Love the house. It was nice and cozy. But it was a walk up and down a steep hill to the water. Lots of stairs to get to the house. I had a stroke and two knee replacements. Plus my husband had surgery done on his thigh. If I had realize there were so many steps I would not of rented it. But otherwise it was absolutely wonderful.
Beautiful area of New Hampshire! The cabin is located in the woods a short distance from Lake Sunapee. You can see glimpses of the lake through the trees from the deck. It’s an older cabin, but comfortable for our 7 people and it had everything we needed. We had a great time! We did have a couple of issues. Check-in was challenging since the host had died the day before and there was no backup number, so it took us several hours to get the code to the lock box. Thanks to a neighbor, we were in before dark. We had an invasion of carpenter ants after the first rainstorm, but spraying the base boards, entry ways and a hole above the bottom of the stairway every night before bed kept them away. We were never able to get in touch with the other owner, but we were able to resolve the issue that we had at check out. Unfortunate about the death of the host. My sympathies to family and friends.

Girl’s Weekend
Property was not quite as described in pictures and written narrative. Walk to the water is short, but not if you are planning on bringing kayaks, chairs, etc. Really have to drive down. No real view of water. Trees blocking view from deck. Fire pit very over grown. Septic smell in morning was horrible if on deck. House needs a good cleaning. Lots of Spider webs in corners, ceiling, etc. Deck has nails that need to be hammered down. Cute place, but needs some care, painting, deep clean. There was an issue with it not being cleaned when we checked it. Owner was able to get cleaning people in with hour, hour and half. They did basic clean because we were sitting on the deck. However, owner compensated for this issue. Overall met our needs for a few days away.
Nice house. Very quiet neighborhood. Short walk to the semi private pier. Rick was very good host. Never had an issue getting in touch with him. Would love to go back
Had a great time for a smaller (10) family gathering. Enough sleeping quarters, nice deck, short walk to association deck to fish or float in surrounding water. Didn’t use the fire pit but was a nice set up. Cozy and nice all around.
Place was very clean and the check in process was simple. Host was very responsive to questions via message though VRBO site. I contacted him a few times and he got back to me very quickly which made a difference. I would recommend this property.
I recently stayed here with my family. We were in the area for a ski trip to Mount Sunapee. The house is super close to the mountain which made it a very convenient place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet and very peaceful. The owner was easy to work with too. I would definitely recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at the lake house. The lake was beautiful and we had the dock to ourselves. We also did some hiking. The weather was perfect. The house had everything we needed.
We all had an amazing week enjoying the coziness & privacy of the house. We all slept comfortably & had space to be together in the open living room & adjoining deck. The kitchen is well equipped. The beautiful lake was enjoyed by all & only a short walk away. The fire pit in the yard was an added bonus where we spent several evenings together. Rick was very helpful, easy to communicate with & always available to speak to if needed. We found beautiful hiking trails to enjoy nearby as well as a good Italian Deli & great ice cream! It was hard to leave. I would highly recommend this property.
This Newbury property was perfect for our family trip with 8 people. There were enough rooms to fit everyone, a nice open main floor that opens out to a big deck - so we didn't feel cramped. The private dock was a short walk away and we always had it to ourselves. Great time and place, and working with the owner (Rick) was a breeze. We would definitely consider staying here again when we return to the area.
Stayed for an extra long weekend (Thursday-Tuesday) with family. House was clean, bright and comfortable beds! Great layout for larger groups with open kitchen/den and large deck. Located near restaurants, lake and shopping. Rick was great very attentive when called. Would definitely recommend! Thank you again Rick!
