About this property

Lake Access Cabin • Quiet Setting Near Town

Moonside Retreat is a classic Smoky Mountains cabin tucked away near Douglas Lake, ideal for guests who want a quieter, more relaxed stay without being in the middle of the tourist chaos. This rustic 3-bedroom cabin comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests and is well suited for families, multi-family groups, or friends traveling together who want space, flexibility, and a peaceful setting near the water.

One of the home’s most unique features is its direct lake access—a set of stairs behind the cabin leads down to a channel of Douglas Lake, making it easy to spend time by the water, fish, or simply enjoy the lakeside atmosphere. During the summer months, the property also offers seasonal lake views through the trees, adding to the experience while staying honest about visibility.

Inside, the cabin features cozy living spaces on both levels, including a main living area with a gas fireplace and comfortable seating. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals and includes both a Keurig pod machine and a drip coffee maker. Sleeping arrangements include a king bedroom upstairs, two queen bedrooms on the lower level, a downstairs trundle bed, and sleeper sofas on both the upper and lower levels, allowing the home to comfortably accommodate larger groups without feeling crowded.

Located away from busy parkway traffic but still within easy driving distance of Sevierville, dining, and area attractions, Moonside Retreat is a great choice for guests who value peace, lake access, and a true cabin feel while remaining close to everything the Smokies have to offer.

Overall, the cabin met our needs and we enjoyed our stay. A lot of attention has clearly been put into the décor, the sleeping arrangements worked well for a larger group, and there was plenty of parking for our three vehicles. Access was easy, the dock and boat lift were nice to have, and communication and the check-in/check-out process were excellent.I don't want this to sound like a list of complaints, because there was a lot we liked. However, I do think more attention needs to be given to maintenance and some practical details. The shower water had a very strong metallic odor. One downstairs bed was broken and supported by concrete blocks, several door knobs/locks were difficult to operate, and the patio furniture was worn and broken down. The couches and pillows could also use a deeper cleaning. There were no properly sized sheets for the pull-out couches, only twin sheets, and the dryer took about three hours to dry one load. The cabin was also 75 when we arrived and took quite a while to cool down.Guests should also plan to bring most of their own basic supplies, as the cabin is pretty bare-bones in that regard. And a small thing that made us laugh—the house sleeps 10–12, but the coffee maker only makes about five cups!None of these things ruined our trip, but together they kept this from being as nice of a stay as it could have been. The cabin has a lot going for it; it just needs the upkeep to match the care put into its appearance.

Overall the cabin was very nice and clean. It was also easy to get to the lake. Only thing was it was listed that a hot tub was on site but when we arrived there was no hot tub to be found.

Loved the cabin and it was stocked very well! Everything you might need was in the kitchen, great washer/dryer to use. My only concern was the lack of attention to outside maintenance. Weeds close to cabin with a lot of thistle that had thorns. Will definitely use Magnolia properties when we visit again!
