This secluded and rustic 1-bedroom cabin is on the shore of Echo Lake, right on the Fayette / Readfield town line.
The cabin has 1 bedroom with a queen-sized bed. There is a large common area with a full kitchen, dinner table, living area, and wood stove.
Amenities include a private dock, kayaks & canoes, a fire pit, and board games & puzzles. You may bring your own fishing gear and watercraft (water depth at the dock can vary, but should be at least 5 feet).
Wireless internet and cell service are both available, but can be spotty. The tap water comes from the lake, and is not suitable for drinking. Sheets and towels are provided for a $100 laundry fee (guests can alternatively provide their own).
Echo Lake is a wonderful 1,185 acre lake -- formerly called "Crochet Pond" because it's shaped like a pair of pants. The house is at the right "foot" of the lake, in an area cordoned off by a shallow channel that deters the campers and residents from busier sections of the lake from boating over. Local wildlife includes bass, perch, sunfish, loons, quail, deer, and turtles. There is a boat launch on the "top" (north) of the lake at West Mount Vernon on Rt. 41.
