My husband and two adult children enjoyed a wonderful week on the quiet side of MDI. The house was very clean with magnificent views from the deck, dining room, and living room. We enjoyed both the privacy and convenience of the location.

This house was perfect for our three-generation family vacation. We all enjoyed the deck with beautiful ocean views and daily visits from wandering deer. The house was very clean with well-stocked bathrooms and kitchen. It is located near excellent restaurants and two easy hiking trails. The host provided a Guest Book with lots of information and was very quick to respond to any VRBO messages. I would love to stay here again in the future.

We are 4 adults looking for a more peaceful Acadia experience and it was perfect. I have so many good things to say that I might not be able to fit it all in one review. The house was immaculate and had everything one could possible want and then some. A fully-equipped kitchen including starter supplies of staples such as sugar, olive oil, spices, coffee and tea; binoculars to enjoy the oceanfront view, a working fireplace with a starter supply of wood and kindling, nightlights, first aid supplies (fortunately not needed), plenty of bedding and towels.... The well-organized host supplied a very helpful notebook with information on what to do and where to shop and eat. We could sit on the front porch and watch deer, or sit on the back porch with the binoculars and watch the seals and the many passing boats. In short, we wanted for nothing and we already daydreaming of our next trip. Highly recommend.

This is a lovely hidden ocean front gem on Mt. Desert Island. The cottage house was lovely with a coastal “old-world charm” with everything needed for a picturesque coastal maine stay. This location is a perfect setting for the more authentic and “quiet side” of Maine. But located to great national parks, local parks, museums day trips to quaint towns or water excursions to see birds, seals, porpoise, eagles, loons and so much more. Don’t miss this great place along the wonderful Peter as host. There is a book manual for the home. It includes short or day trips, and food and museum recommendations, outdoor water activities and the best fresh caught lobster you have ever had. We highly recommend and would definitely recommend this place to a couple or family. This cottage house makes all your Maine dreams come true.

Peter's house was amazing. The location was fantastic. Close enough for a short drive into different parts of Acadia National Park, without being stuck in the noise with the more touristy locations (like Bar Harbor). We could easily get anywhere we wanted to go in the main part of Acadia within 30 minutes, and only an hour to the more remote Schoodic Peninsula.Having the rocky beach right outside to hang out on was amazing. The kids absolutely loved being out there and exploring the rocks as the tides changed. We watched multiple sunrises and sunsets right on the water because it was so convenient and beautiful.The house was as advertised. Plenty of space to hang out without being on top of each other. It was well stocked with essentials such as shampoo, soap, toilet paper, towels, and even first aid supplies and some kitchen cooking essentials. We were there for the park, but were perfectly happy spending time in such a lovely house with it's phenomenal setting and views. The host, Peter, was great. He gave us useful information about where to shop and places to look out for. Check out procedures were minimal and clearly described in the guest book. Park information, maps, and binoculars were all available in the house. Overall this was an amazing stay and we'd highly recommend Peter's house to anyone looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to visit Acadia from.

I grew up exploring the tide pools and rocky shores, hiking the mountains, swimming in lakes & ocean, and loving the magic of Southwest Harbor. Now our grandchildren are doing the same! We hope you will enjoy this special place as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

The ocean view is always absorbing and ever changing with the play of tide, waves, light, and sky. Nights are dark with spectacular star gazing from horizon to horizon. We love the sound of waves and seabirds. Many an idle hour has been spent watching the parade of boats coming and going in the Western Way. Deer often wander right across your view from the picture window.
