Glenwood Pond Cottage was rebuilt in 2017-18 by 30-year island residents. The cottage sits nestled in a pinewood forest off a private dirt road, located just 4.7 miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park. Perfectly situated centrally on Mount Desert Island, the house gives easy access to Acadia National Park, the popular tourist town of Bar Harbor (6 miles), and the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island, including the villages of Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor.

With 3 upstairs bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms the house can easily accommodate up to 6 people. Oak hardwood floors, a large enclosed morning sun porch, new stainless steel appliances, and new mattresses ensure a comfortable stay.

The house is privately located, with no other homes in sight and guests can enjoy a visit to Frenchman's Pond, just a short walk away, where Canadian geese nest annually, a beaver has made residence, and where frogs, turtles, deer, and songbirds make regular appearances.

This property was perfect for the 6 of us. We had everything we needed to make meals. The dining table was perfect for playing games as well as eating. It’s close enough to all that we wanted to do and see. The walk to the pond is short and beautiful. Our host responded quickly to any questions I had. This home was amazing! It was even better than advertised! It was secluded but close to Acadia NP and downtown Bar Harbor. It was quiet and so relaxing with lots of room for everyone to have space! Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again! Perfect location to Acadia,and downtown Bar Harbor! Very clean, and more than enough room for our family of four to hang out and have our own space. Kitchen didn’t lack anything either. We had a bit of an unexpected heat wave so a little warm to sleep without AC but plenty of fans. We all worked on the harbor puzzle during the week after long hikes during the day :)

This house was a perfect location for exploring different parts of Acadia/Mount Desert Island. So glad our family of 5 stayed here (rather than trying to squeeze into hotel rooms in Bar Harbor). Clean/comfortable/spacious house and helpful hosts!

Clean, plenty of room, well-stocked (The house had everything we needed.) The pond and neighborhood were great for our morning walks. Convenient location to Acadia NP (5.6mi to Hulls Cove visitor center) and Bar Harbor. Did not miss A/C, but fans came in handy. Convenient to Town Hill market (great blueberry pie)

Acadia vacation

The pictures do not do his house justice! Its beautiful, spacious and so clean! The location was perfect for us, only about 8 minutes from the entrance to the park and about 10-15 to downtown Bar Harbor. The location is so quiet and you can barely see the neighboring houses. We hope to return to Acadia and would love to stay in this home again!
