The host was very friendly and provided answers to all of our questions before our visit. The house has everything we needed and is well supplied with all kitchen supplies needed. The king bed was very comfortable in the main level bedroom. Our host provided a hug of sweet tea (which my husband had jokingly asked for before we arrived). He was very happy to have it there when we arrived. The location is very peaceful and relaxing. If you are coming for several days, be sure to pick up groceries before arriving in Elk Creek as there are no stores in this town other than the convenience store at the gas station. I highly recommend this house and the hostess.

About the host

Host profile image
My name is Gina Cummings, aka Mama GG, as the kids call me since I’m everyone’s mom, and 11 years ago, I traded the buzz of Sacramento, California, for the wide‑open beauty of Grayson County — easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I grew up in a family that practically lived outdoors, and the Blue Ridge Mountains finally gave me the playground I’d always dreamed of.

I’m a mom of three teenagers (which means life is never boring), and a Project Manager at an amazing packaging company tucked right into these mountains. When I’m off the clock, you’ll find me doing pretty much anything that gets me moving and outside — farming, horse training, photography, hiking, biking, gardening, or discovering some new adventure I probably didn’t plan for.

My dream is for my legacy home to become a place where people can unplug, breathe a little deeper, and shake off the stress of everyday life. If you need a reset, a recharge, or just a reminder that life can be simple and joyful, this is the place.

Why they chose this property

I decided to make this my home from the first interaction at the local diner, where a neighbor noticed my coffee was low and asked if I wanted a refill. I then realized it's not about the perfect coffee shops or the sweet malls! It was about a neighbor caring about another neighbor, which is long gone until I moved here to Grayson County.

What makes this property unique

This property sits on 1.86 acres and backs up to 300 and then to the national forest. You get to hear the sounds of the crickets / frogs and the flow of the creek from the master bedroom. You can run, bike or hike right out from the front door. If you want peace and quiet this is it! This is why i do not want to sell our place. People say you cant buy happiness but to me this is happiness.
