We had a wonderful week in idyllic, beautiful Villa Edi. The views are fabulous and the rooms were spacious with very comfortable beds. We were able to hear cuckoos and nightingales and enjoyed being surrounded by nature. The location was excellent and we greatly enjoyed exploring Certaldo Alto, Volterra and San Gimigniano. Would highly recommend this beautiful property.
Gambassi Terme is a beautiful little village about an hour's drive from Florence. It's high up on a hill, so you get great views of the rolling Tuscan Hills all around. There are a few nice restaurants and a couple of grocery stores and a spa there. The property itself is right on the outskirts of the village (probably a 15-20 minute walk into the centre) down a long driveway, shared with another couple of houses. Getting into the property requires you to go through a security gate and then make a very sharp turn through a very narrow gate into the property. If you're not used to driving on the right-hand side of the road, it can be a little tricky to do, particularly with bigger cars. Once inside the property you can tell that it is very well cared for and we were welcomed with some local wine, olive oil and a couple of other things in a hamper which was lovely. There is one bedroom upstairs and one downstairs (no en suites) so all 4 bedrooms upstairs share the one bathroom. That didn't really bother us, but may be an issue for others. The star of the house is definitely the pool. We really enjoyed a couple of afternoons there (although the water is quite cold!). Just watch out for mosquitos in the early evening as they were pretty relentless when we were there. Overalll a really nice stay in a pretty house, in a lovely location. Well suited for a large family / couple of families.
