About this property

Spring Lake Beach House



This has been our family home for over 40 years. Recently, we purchased another home and have decided to open our beach home to the public.

This sunny, two story beach house has a beautiful view of Spring Lake from the front porch and dining/kitchen area. It has many windows lending itself to the smell of fresh air off the lake.

There is no beach access or docking privileges associated with the property. The Spring Lake public beach is only a block away. A 10 minute drive will take you to the Grand Haven/ Lake Michigan beach.

*Arrival time is Sunday at 4:00 and departure the following Sunday by 10:00 am ( with no late departures)

No smoking or vaping ( on the property)

For seasonal ( September to June) tenants other cost are incurred, such as utilities, internet, etc..

Work Trip

We were there working in the area for a couple of weeks and this was the perfect spot to hang your hat at the end of the day. The hosts were so accommodating and they had all the comforts of home. We would definitely stay here again.

Close to Everything

The hosts were friendly, attentive, and there to greet us when we arrived. Got a quick tour of the place and then settled in. This is a great place with lots of space, including a large great room for rainy days. Close to many of the great outdoor adventure destinations along the lake shore.

Great Lake cottage

My better half and I plan a trip every year for the grand kids this was our 4th year running. This home is so close to everything and a beach that’s amazing!!! Sandy and Tom came and welcomed us. Such sweet people. We are already trying to firm up our dates for next year!

Family reunion in Spring Lake

We spent a week at this house and had a great time. The view and easy access to Spring Lake are fantastic. It's also convenient to the nice running trail that runs through Spring Lake which we took advantage of multiple times. The house was clean and everything worked well. Our only issue was the house (at that time) only had wired internet which was a little flaky. The owner was very responsive in helping us with the situation and did his best to help us out. I would highly recommend this property for a visit any time of year to Spring Lake.

Wonderful location!

Our 3-generation family enjoyed our stay at this property. The location can't be beat - a few minutes' walk to the public beach which is never crowded and also about a 7 minute walk to Village Baker, Front Porch, and other stores like Rite Aid. It's an easy 8-10 minute drive to Grand Haven and the Lake Michigan beaches. House is exactly as pictured - not a lot of updates but all of the essentials and just about everything works. It's a big house especially if you use the large living room upstairs (note that the 5th bedroom is a walkthrough between the upstairs family room and the rest of the upstairs room), and we loved having 2.5 baths. We spent most of our timing in the dining room watching the boats go by - lovely!

The home is located in a very nice area

Our overall review is "okay." The home would need additional air conditioning units in the main floor areas for hot days/nights. One small inadequate window unit near the kitchen pantry is not sufficient for the kitchen/dining/living room areas. Would prefer to have blinds in all the windows (main floor and upstairs family room) for added privacy at night. Would prefer a more adequate TV in the living room and an additional TV for the upstairs family room. The window units in the bedrooms need updating so that they ran quieter and produced stronger air flow.

Feels like home

This property is not fancy, more like going to grandma's house - comfortable. There was plenty of room for our family of 10 with 4 BRs plus a large open family room on the 2nd floor. Kitchen was large and had all utensils and appliances needed. We happened to be there during a week of temps in the 80s so even with A/C, it got a little warm sometimes. Location is good - small town feel with a short walk to the town beach and only 20-25 minutes to a large beach on Lake Michigan. Hike and bike path just a block behind the house, and a few businesses and restaurtants are within walking distance. Owners were available and ironed out any difficulties immediately. We all (ages 12-72) had a great time at the Spring Lake Beach House.

Great lake and village house

Great spacious house. Lovely open view across the lake with boats and sunsets to watch. Pretty little village beach one block away which we used every day. Many fun destinations and restaurants just a short distance away.

Family stay at Spring Lake

We had a wonderful stay. Communication was wonderful with Sandy. Location was perfect as we were able to walk to the beach, town, local park with a playground, etc. the house was comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed.

This was excellent property for our family.

There was plenty of room for the 10 of us. There were 5 adults and 5 children in all. Since we knew the location well the kids had a wonderful time fishing where our condo of a few years was. We were able to go to the Country Club of Spring Lake due to membership at MSU Club. We are thinking very seriously about coming back next year if they will have us. I suggest a clothes line outside to hang beach towels on. We picked up a couple of blankets because the first and second nights were cold. Neighbors were noisy but it was okay due to to being the holiday time. It was difficult but we brought a kayak and 3 bikes./ Everyone enjoyed our time and the large house. We did leave some food that would not spoil because we thought they could use it We vacuumed the big room and tried to pick up. It was perfect for us. The only part that is not their fault, is not being able to walk right out to the beach.

Spacious in great location

Our family enjoyed a great week. The house was exactly as we expected from listing. The view and location is great. Very spacious comfortable house. We were able to enjoy the beaches from short drive to Grand Haven beaches to day trips up north. Other activities and very nice neighborhood for walking and just enjoying the beautiful view. Beautiful View

Sandy and Tom were very friendly and outgoing. They offered good suggestions on places to go and places to eat. The view from the front yard was beautiful and we sat outside many nights looking at the lake. House was in great shape and has everything you will need for a great time. My family and i had a great time. Great place to go and relax with friends and family.

Great location and sizeable beach home

If you’re looking for a large place to stay with gorgeous views, you found it! Sandy and Tom will take great care of you and make sure you have all you need. They have a wonderful home and it’s lake front! The bedrooms and living area are spacious. Although the house is a bit dated every room and bathroom were extremely clean. There were two showers however they couldn’t seem to be used at the same time without lacking enough water pressure to shower both people. Also one of he 5 bedrooms did not have air conditioning which made it uncomfortable for sleeping on hot nights. Happy we found such a great place and will be returning for sure.

Great Vacation!

Our family had a wonderful time at the Spring Lake Beach House. The house easily accommodated our group of 9 adults, everything was very clean and the view of the lake was beautiful. We spent many nights out at the picnic table watching the sun go down over the lake. We were within walking distance of the Village Baker where we had some very good pizza. Everything was close by, we could walk to the Spring Lake public access beach, or take a short drive to Grand Haven Beach or North Beach Park. Sandy and Tom were great to work with and we would highly recommend this home.

Perfect for Groups of All Ages!

The view of Spring Lake from the front porch of this home is fantastic. Sit and enjoy the sound of the water as you sip your morning cup of coffee. The bike\walking path is so close be sure to bring your bike when staying here. The beach will provide you with many hours of water fun and because Spring Lake is an inland lake it is much warmer than Lake Michigan. Don't miss Lake Michigan during your stay in the area though. The home is a perfect vacation home with a lot of bedrooms and big kitchen for when you don't want to go to a local restaurant. Our group took advantage of a local fishing charter and caught many huge salmon and trout. Nothing like grilled fresh fish. Many golf courses close by and don't miss the Village Baker restaurant just a 7 minute walk from this house. Our group decided to have breakfast there every morning. The house was very clean and has a washer and dryer and a garage for your car and bikes Our group of 10 had no issues with the internet service The owners were very accommodating and returned our call promptly when we had a question. I plan to rent this home again in the future.

Golf getaway

Six of us rented this house while playing in Spring Lake golf tournament. The house was perfect for us with 5 bedrooms and plenty of room for everyone. Great views of Spring Lake and close to beach. We loved the house and would highly recommend. Owners are wonderful and very accommodating!

Our family reunion

We had a wonderful week at this vacation rental. The house was clean and had everything that we needed. The sandy beach was a block away, and Grand Haven Beach was only a seven minute drive. We drove into Grand Rapids (30minutes away) to see the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum and the Frederick Meijer Sculpture Gardens, while the grandkids went to the amusement park/water park in Muskegon only 20 minutes away. Shopping was abundant, as were many, many antique stores. This rental, as you can see, is in a very convenient location and fulfilled all of our needs ( all nine of us).

Great week had by all

A great week was had by all. There was plenty of room for all of us, great sites to see, close to Grand Haven and the beaches of Lake Michigan. If you weren't in the mood for the big beach, there was a smaller public beach a block away. Owners were available and very helpful.

Beautiful view of Spring Lke

Superb Spring Lake home, easy Grand Haven access

Spacious, well-maintained home with great views and a few shorts steps to a private, sandy beach on lovely Spring Lake. The house is located in an area of homes emphasizing lake living, very safe, and having friendly and helpful neighbors. The house has easy access to highways, and minutes to Grand Haven shopping, attractions and beaches. We had great communication from the owners, Sandy and Tom, in planning for our stay; they greeted us on our arrival, gave us a quick tour of the home, the beach, and the various amenities which came with the rental. The kitchen was fully equipped for storage and cooking, a patio area for barbecuing and outdoor eating with the beach and lake in view, and a large indoor dining table and seating for up to 10. The house has a garage and additional paved parking. Grocery stores, a fantastic bakery (a short walk from the house), restaurants, gift shops are blocks away. A paved and nicely maintained walking/bike path is a block away. Safe andcomfortable accommodations with an outstanding mix of having many things to do from the house itself (swimming, kayaking, walking, biking) with the benefit of easy access highways for exploring western Michigan (we went to an outdoor Pops concert sponsored by the Grand Rapids Symphony and a Class A baseball game, each about 30 minutes drive from the house), and just minutes to popular Grand Haven. A splendid week, and a must do for us again next year!

Perfect for family and friends

My family and I were looking for the perfect place to enjoy the 4th of July holiday and we definately found it. There were 7 of us in the house and at no time were we pressed for space. In fact the property does easily sleep 10. Our sons brought friends and were able to go down to the public beach and enjoy swiming and sun. Grand Haven is just minutes away so fireworks and the pier were easy to get to and back. Sitting on the front porch gave us beautiful sunsets, I will confess to busy days so sunrise was not something I can comment on. Walking in the neighborhood is enjoyable. One thing I would do next time is bring the family bicycles. The bike trail into Spring Lake and Grand Haven is less than 1/4 mile from the house. Everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation is right at your finger tips. Definately would return.

Fantastic

Talk about a home away from home! Home owners were as excited about our vacation as we were. Very welcoming and easy to get ahold of during our stay. The house was very spacious. Even with having 6 adults and four children ages 5 and down. The private Spring Lake beach was only about 200yds from the front door. beautiful view of the lake from the front kitchen window. The breeze was refreshing. Bike trail less than a quarter mile from the house. Central park was about a 1/2 mile. Another cute play ground was only a mile away. Both places great for picnics. Loved the Village Baker! Less than 1/2 mile from house. Front Porch ice cream across the street from the Village Baker was yummy! loved all of the Farmer's Markets from Wed-Sat. Grand Haven was such a short trip across the bridge. The one day my husband and I road our bikes with our son to the Boardwalk and main stip on Washington (just over 3mi). Another Great playground by the Boardwalk. The two big beaches, Grand Haven State Park and the North Shores, were also very close The U-pick fruit/vegie farms were abundant.....and fun. This was an amazing place to vacation with our young family. Everything was so close and convenient. We love it when we hardly have to drive and if we do drive it's short. Thumbs up. Stay here!

Spring Lake Cottage

My family had a wonderful time on vacation at this property in Spring Lake. The cottage is very spacious, clean, and welcoming. The large family room was a great place to gather in the evening to relax. We felt very comfortable in the house. There was a nice breeze from the lake which made the days very pleasant. We walked to the beach to watch the sunset. We spent time in Grand Haven, which is only a ten minute drive. The owner is very friendly and was accessible when we had questions. She went out of her way to make our stay very pleasant, providing all the comforts of home. We would definitely rent this property again when visiting this area.

My wife and I have been married for eight years. Sandy is a retired kindergarten teach and I am a retired quality assurance engineer. Sandy still substitutes for Grand Haven Schools.

We both enjoy being very active, which includes cycling, snowshoeing, dancing, motorcycle trips, and hiking which usually takes in some Geocaching. During the winter months we have been taking dance lesson for over five years. For the past couple years we always seem to be traveling during the month of March. It is that time of year the snow condition has pretty much deteriorated and the spring and summer play weather hasn't arrived yet. During the summer months we have no desire to travel since the west Michigan area is its own playground.

We have totally enjoyed meeting people from various parts of the country that have stayed at the "beach house" . It has helped us to plan some of our own trips.

If you are curious as to why we charge $60 for credit card transaction, that is what VRBO charges us. There isn't any charge if E-check is used

Why they chose this property

Why this property? Well to start with, it is the only rental property on Spring Lake that can view the sailboats catching the prevailing westerlies winds as that trip up and down the lake all from the view of the dinning area or from the front patio area. Or enjoy the morning calm with your early morning coffee as you look over the lake as the fishermen make it to their favorite fishing spots.

The property is easy walking distance to the Spring Lake public beach which has a full time lifeguard. If you desire a much larger beach area, there is always the beaches Grand Haven, which is only about 10 minutes away. There you a choice of Grand Haven Michigan State Park, or Grand Haven public beach.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, there are free concerts all within about ten minute drive. On Friday nights Muskegon has a free concerts in Hackley park with beverages and food available to purchase. As a rule, need to bring your own chairs.

For those that want to have a workout before relaxing on the local beaches, there are several bike paths in the area. The one closest to the property is only a short distance, maybe 100 yards up the hill. The bike path travels along the circumference of lake, about 9 miles. If you are into Geocaching, there are several close to the bike path.

The closest boat launch is only about mile away. This launch is on Spring Lake which connect to lake Michigan.

There is a amusement park about 30 minute drive. This is duel park, water and rides. Discount tickets are available.


As a rule, Grand Haven, Spring Lake, or Muskegon always has some special event every week. Check local media for update.

What makes this property unique

What make this property so unique. I think that might already be listed in "Why This Property" What really adds icing to the cake is the people of the western Michigan area. The people are generally over the top friendly. Don't be surprise that people will wish a you good morning just because. It is what makes this area special to me. You can find special places to reflect and relax and recenter one self.
