About the host
Hosted by Suzanne Foxwell
We had talked about buying a piece of property by the water for quite some time and had looked at a few pieces but never really connected with anything. We came to Fairhaven one day to pick something up at West Marine, saw an open house sign and decided to take a look. When we saw the cottage it was structurally sound but did not have any curb appeal. Suzanne immediately saw the potential to make the cottage a very cozy get away spot so an offer was made and accepted and within a couple of months the initial transformation was completed. We put all of the fencing around the property and then Suzanne planted the rose pushes that climb the front fence and planted a flower garden behind the fence. We added a porch on the east end of the property when we first purchased and then in 2010 we decided to remove the outdoor porch and replaced it with a three season room with a large deck above.
Why they chose this property
We like the Fairhaven area because of the ease of getting to places like Newport RI, Plymouth Ma and Cape Cod without living with the crowds that are associated with these areas
What makes this property unique
We like to drive to the bike trail and walk the mile and 1/2 to the center of Fairhaven for breakfast. There are many great restaurants in the South Coast area that we also enjoy. With Buzzards Bay right outside the door, kayaking, sailing, wind surfing and other water activities are enjoyed throughout the summer.
